Fine hair holy grail and believe me i don't say that lightly

holy mother of god this stuff is brilliant! leaves my hair soft, thicker looking and shiny with plenty of grip - all the best qualities of a glosser, mousse and the metric shit ton of dry shampoo i usually use in one fab product. My fine, long, grease prone hair can go days without washing using this stuff. seriously, it's the best thing i have ever used on my hair - and i've used a lot.

Oh thanks for sharing! I have approx 184,567 half used bottles of products that were not the holy grail for my limp, fine hair so maybe 184,568th time is a charm! I'll check it out!

yep! i got it for £5.99 in boots. it is better than the £35 bottle of allegedly volumising shampoo that is currently languishing in my shower

I bought this after a recommendation from somebody. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't call it my holy grail (still looking for that!).

Asda do it half price sometimes.

Can I ask how you use it?
I have my holy grail shampoo and conditioner but am a bit rubbish with hair products so tend not to use them very much. If I do I normally end up with greasy limp hair and an itchy scalp.
I use their hairspray if I need hold on an up do but never know what to do with mousse!

Urban fudge mousse is a good one for my fine hair. Smells amazing just like raspberries and doesn't go crispy.

I always thought mousse was a product for curls until my hairdresser showed me how to use it. I immediately bought some and I've used it every day since.

I'm another one with eleventy million half opened bottles of miracle promising liquids so I might give this a go. My last purchase, some Fibrology liquid is utter shite and makes my hair look greasy.

i put about 1-2 egg size amounts through damp (not wet!) hair - one lot through the roots with my hair upside down and the same again through the top with my head the right way up, finger combed through. i try to comb it from the first inch of hair downwards rather than rubbing it into my scalp if that makes sense. then blow dry it or shove it in pin curls/a bun for a couple of days of waves with zero effort.

napoleon that fibrology stuff didn't agree with me either. the order finds shampoo and conditioner were ok but like you i found the styling products way too heavy and greasy

I used to use the John Frieda thickening lotion religiously but they changed the formula I think a few years ago and it's not the same now (or my hair developed a resistance to it ) and I haven't found anything to replace it yet.

Being also blessed with fine hair that has a tendency to go limp and greasy at the roots without daily washing I accidentally discovered Vosene citrus refresh anti dandruff shampoo. I bought it for dh but grabbed it by accident once in the shower. It gives me an extra day before the greasiness kicks in.

I had previous tried the Elvive on that was hailed a miracle on this board and fibrology and neither work.

I think I paid £1.99 for it, maybe a bit less with an Amazon subscription

Fibrology shampoo also made my hair look greasy, I can't fathom that.
I wash my hair daily as it is so flat without a wash, I feel I've tried everything barring really aggressive heat stuff, so I will give this a go. It's root lift I really need, I also tried 7 day volume, no good.

I'd like to be able to wash it every other day ideally.

Try the Vosene shampoo too Alice. At less than £2 it's worth a shot and if your hair's like mine you'll get the extra day.

Oh hair products are the bane of my life! Why is there nothing out there for my fine, coloured, brunette, straight, short limp hair? I need about 6 different products and I'm sick of it. Greasy head by lunchtime.

I've given up and sticking with Tigi Bedhead Colour Goddess shampoo and conditioner - SLS free and the only shampoo/cond that is truly colour saving, and a little bit of Argan oil before drying. It feels really light and in great condition.

keepon my hair is poker straight so I don't have much experience with curls. My hairdresser did some curly magic with a straightner when I had it cut but I've never tried since.

I only use it on wet/damp hair and blow dry to style it. I've got a really deep side parting to give the illusion of volume and the mousse holds it like a hairspray without the dull sheen hairspray usually gives.

My hair was flying about all over the place the other day when I was walking to work during the Doris storm, a quick brush back to how I styled it when I got indoors and it was fine again.

• forgot to say - I use it on the roots only on wet/damp hair.

I've been using the Trevor sorbie rejeunvenate stuff meant for my rubbish fine/limp/greasy/useless hair but is a fortune to buy all the different bits- will def try this!

I love Fibrology air, but after a while need to switch for a few days as it seems to become dull again, almost like my hairs got used to it.

Aldi's Mighty Shampoo is what I usually alternate it with, it's very much like the Aussie ones but a lot cheaper.

Will keep eyes open for this and pick up if I see it on offer :)

And the most effective thing to add a bit of volume is still what worked in my teens.

Hair dried upside down, then once dry and still upside down a light spray of insette on the roots. :)

Off to boots to get this tomorrow, seen it recommended a few times.
My hair is shockingly shit so anything is worth a try.

Thank you for this! I'm currently using a Paul Mitchell thickening spray (can't remember the exact name) which I love, but this is much much cheaper! Will take a look at the Urban Fudge products too.
