Em this is where I sound like Redken rep again... the All Soft oil is amazing, not cheap but lasts forever

ememem84 · 24/03/2017 13:39

Thanks dragon will give it a whirl I think.

kwick · 24/03/2017 15:30

dragon does it add oiliness at all? I have frizzy ends but oily roots... so annoying!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Back from mild and sunny London of cherry trees and daffodils - around here, we have ice floats and snow showers!

My mother is feeling a lot better, words are coming back to her, she sounded out every sign in the hospital - we spent the afternoon decoding bathroom signs Wink It's amazing progress, on Monday I handed her a copy of Grazia and she was totally stumped by its title Sad There is a dramatic irony to illness: since the 1940s, my mother has spent her every waking moment reading. She had a new friend, an artist who no longer knew how to use her right hand. But everyone was working hard and getting better and I left the hospital feeling really optimistic.

Stressful times are not great for my wallet. I bought a lip palette from Kiko, a £3 set of lip brushes from Primark, and had a mini shopping spree at Boots (a couple of travel minis, a backup mascara, and a liquid lipstick). But there's spring in the air, I felt happy to be alive, and cheap cosmetics are such a morale booster...

ememem84 · 25/03/2017 07:38

Redken all soft oil purchased. Feelunique have it on sale (£18.20 instead of £22)

Plus a free gift.

FrustratedFrugal · 25/03/2017 10:56

I haven't posted a selfie for a while... So here you have gold and burgundy eye shadow from the Narsissist palette, Max Factor Facefinity compact, old brown Revlon eye shadow on brows, a mixture of three blushers, and the burgundy and clear shades from the Kiko #1 lip palette.

Everything else is old except the lip color. Patiently using up...

You look great, in your selfie Frustatred. Lovely clear complexion 😊

DragonNoodleCake · 25/03/2017 16:04

Kwick you just need a couple of drops rubbed on ends only

DragonNoodleCake · 25/03/2017 16:05

Looking fab as ever frugal

littlepooch · 25/03/2017 17:25

Glad to hear things are better for your mum frugal you look great in your pic!

I have made a mental note of the redken as I too am a devotee to the frizz ease stuff. I've just opened a new one but might be nice to try something new once this one is used up.

Some empties from me this week:

All trial sizes:

Liz Earle shampoo (ok, wouldn't repurchase, I prefer the ogx stuff.

Loccitane shea hand cream (love this but I have a few other hand creams to use up first)

Soap and glory scrub of your life body scrub (I hate the smell of this but it was quite a good scrub).

Progress is being made albeit slowly. Since having dd and WFH and now being pregnant again ive gone from wearing make up every day to hardly ever. So no idea how I will ever make inroads into my piles of make-up!

FrustratedFrugal · 26/03/2017 16:30

Thanks so much for your kind comments!

Just back from the hospital. Mother is doing rather well and I wouldn't be surprised if she was released soon.

I've discovered that a couple of full-size products will be finished soon. A sunny day here, I've enjoyed wearing fresh spring shades.

FrustratedFrugal · 27/03/2017 09:17

A bit on a tangent but vaguely using up related - have you ever considered eating your makeup?
This story and totally cracked me up!

plumstone · 27/03/2017 10:02

The weekend was so good on an empties front,

tester sized Estee Lauder Advanced Night repair eye cream - lovey will repurchase once the others are done
OGX conditioner - have repurchased - one out one in basis is starting
Random shampoo finished - started on a Bamford travel sized acquired while staying in a lurvely hotel last year
Nivea moisturiser - bought Nivea Q10 - on offer in boots
Pixi toner that I dregs in - not repurchased a bit meh about it.

Did purchase Nip and Fab Night Glycolic pads and Dragons blood toning pads - Love these!!!!

Opened an Omorovitza serum sample that arrived with the Cult Beauty purchases - praying I don't like it as Its way out my budget!!

FiveShelties · 27/03/2017 10:31

You look lovely Frugal and I hope your Mum is home soon.

I have just returned from three weeks in Lanzarote, to lovely weather here, which was a surprise. I resisted Duty Free - not very difficult as the prices did not seem brilliant. I lost a sun tan on arrival to security at Livepool airport - husband had popped it in the flight bag and of course it was more than 100ml. Just shows how easy it is to forget the rules and we travel regularly. Had to replace - essential purchase.

I used up shampoo and conditioner both Tresemme which did the job and I would buy again. Also gone are a Nivea moisturiser and a lovely Aloe Vera Lotion from the Organic Aloe Vera House on Lanzarote. Have not used Nivea for ages, this was the white tub one and I was quite impressed. Packet of make up remover wipes also used up, not sure where they were from.

So I have six weeks until we move to use up about 200 items, cannot see that happening, definitely must not buy anything, must not buy anything, must not .....

mintmagnummm · 27/03/2017 11:42

Does anyone here use la Roche posay anthelios as their every day spf for face??

plumstone · 27/03/2017 11:53

Mint - I usually do - deviated to Elizabeth Arden, once finished I will be straight back to LRP - I love it - nice base for make up, not white and Ghost like, blends well, and make up sits well over it - all in all perfect - They do a tinted version - however its too dark for me, so I stick with the normal one - hope this helps!!

mintmagnummm · 27/03/2017 13:14

Thanks plum that does help. Do you also use it on holidays abroad or a different one for that? Which one exactly do you use and what's your skin type?

plumstone · 27/03/2017 13:26

Yep every day while on holiday in the sun - I apply slightly more regularly than I do here went through a bottle when I was away in FEB between October and March (I use the clocks changing as a gauge) its every morning - from March onwards it is in the handbag 24/7. If its sunny on leaving work then it gets slapped on for the journey home.

Its LRP Anthelios xl ultra light fluid SPF 50 - I buy in boots as it is convenient - its £16.00 approx but can be bought on line - I have dry/dehydrated skin - I have tried the cream and it was far too heavy!!

kwick · 27/03/2017 21:18

frustrated why oh why would you want to eat your makeup?????? Confused

Wow!!! Great job plum!!

A 3 week holiday five I am soooooo jealous!!! Envy

Right so I am trying to push hard to get through my 12 disciples!!! Not long to go - I need to stay REALLY focused. I have also started a new list - any ideas on what we can call it?

I tried the Superdrug Vitamin E intense moisture cream on my face last night (so far had only used on my scar line/tummy) and I really loved it!!! But I need to use my Garnier moisture bomb before I switch.

Thanks again plum. I quite liked the dry touch gel/cream one, not sure whether to get this again or the light fluid you use, hmmmm....

woodhill · 27/03/2017 22:05

My list is going down too.

Great work everyone

plumstone · 28/03/2017 09:47

Well I am on a roll - finished a bottle of contact lens fluid this morning - nothing exciting as I have to start another one this evening - however recon I have a couple of days left of my balm cleanser and second cleanser which is cetaphill. Now the balm was the Caroline Hirons and Pixi double cleanser which was OK, but I will keep for travelling think I prefer separate balm/oil then a different one for cleaning the face!!

This is so therapeutic!!

FrustratedFrugal · 28/03/2017 14:56

Fab progress Plumstone!
