I'm sorry, is it 1998?

I went shopping for the first time in ages today and these tops were everywhere. Took me right back to the 90's! I had a fine array of vest tops to put over my tee shirts but I think I'll give it a miss this time round - my very pert 34B kahunas are sadly no longer up to the strain. (Nor are they still 34B or pert Grin). Isn't it funny how fashions seem to roll back round again?

Graphista · 18/02/2017 22:57

Littlelondoner · 18/02/2017 22:58

Camo print everything
Combat or parasuit pants a la all saints
Shiney pvc
Silk shirts in bright orange or lime green

Are my worse fashion fauxs of 90s

Flambola · 19/02/2017 00:49

I keep thinking the 90s were ten years ago.

TisMeTheLadFromTheBar · 19/02/2017 01:46

I'm kicking myself that I threw away all my old clothes. They're back in fashion again Grin

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 19/02/2017 04:05

My mum bought me that exact dress from C&A when I was 11 Grin. Loved it.

AteRiri · 19/02/2017 05:38

Apparently MTV sweatshirts are coming back too :)

Tanaqui · 19/02/2017 07:20

WE do seem to be going through the 90s very quickly- in my (quite possibly faulty!) memory, the grungy, floral dresses over t shirts or bodies was early 90s, and the low rise cargos, cropped tops, platforms was much later- are we just doing it all at once?!

WilburIsSomePig · 19/02/2017 08:14

pissedglitter a bit like this?

Sometimes I used the wind the wispy bits round and round with a pencil to given them a bit of a curl, I felt it added a bit of sophistication. Which it didn't. Grin

I thought this the other day when I saw a calvin klein jumper - I remember wanting one so much back in the 90s!

Along with:
Chunky kickers
Spliffy jeans
Bomber jacket
Messenger bag
Chokers

And yes, I had the high ponytail with wispy front bits! Plus the silk shirts aswell!! Thankfully there aren't many pictures of my teenage/tween years!!

wineusuallyhelps · 19/02/2017 08:31

Yep to winding the stupid bits of hair round a pencil, then hairspray till it was solid. And the chunky Kickers - god, I thought I was the absolute bomb in those with a short skirt 😂

And the 90s was ten years ago. Agreed.

TheCakes · 19/02/2017 08:32

You're right Tanaqui. Grunge first, then All Saints.

Late 90s my hair was stripey. Hair mascara anyone?

WhiskeySourpuss · 19/02/2017 08:56

Oh I'd forgotten about tiger stripe highlights... this is the hairstyle I was rocking circa 1996/7

creampinkrose · 19/02/2017 09:03

I had the silk shirt in neon colours, worn with black trousers to a sleepover where we watched Friends and listened to the Spice Girls and drank Hooch.

Ahhhhh the 90s Grin

MiladyThesaurus · 19/02/2017 09:08

In the late 90s, my friends and I all had these trainers.

I'm sorry, is it 1998?
FrustratedFrugal · 19/02/2017 09:08

I heard at work that twentysomethings have rediscoverd Friends.

They've also discovered slip dresses worn over tees and grunge plaid (but I don't think they have a clue who Kurt Cobain was).

MiladyThesaurus · 19/02/2017 09:10

I think I wore them a lot with wide-legged grey trousers in some hideous wipe clean material (I had at least two pairs - they came from oasis) and a crop top.

FrustratedFrugal · 19/02/2017 09:10

She looks like a child doesn't she?

MiladyThesaurus · 19/02/2017 09:18

What about covering your head in little mini buns or tufts of hair? Or, often just doing a few at the top and leaving the rest down and wishing that your parents would let you properly dye your hair blue because wash in wash out dye does not work very well in dark hair.
