Hi, what does everyone think of the hush new season? I've ordered a few bits to try, a couple of their basic raglan l/s tops, the dungarees (not sure!) and the lightening bolt dress and shirt, just wondered if anyone else had had a look yet? Smile

If anyone is interested, they are definetly true to size. They are slightly loose on me, which i like but the 10's were just too small and tight on, which is not the look I am after.

Thanks Talisin! I love the blue but it is out of stock in my size. Actually the Hush one works out cheaper with the discount so fingers crossed it's nice as well.

For those asking about the Venice beach, I'm not totally keen. It's not as flattering or well made as the gorgeous Tara. I've had
2 and although good for summer it's fairly thin material for the price.

Thanks for the feedback Jemima. The Tara didn't suit me as it was too baggy on the top but I loved the red of the Venice. I assumed it was similar fabric to the Tara but sorry to see it's not. Might have a hunt for it in John Lewis and try it on.

God, just found this thread. I am a Hush lover, but only discovered A/W 16.

I've tons in my basket, I need to cull.

In fact, I've just culled the stella frayed jumper in 2 sizes as I probably can find alternatives for the price.

So far.
Selena Frayed Jumper.
Tara dress in both colours (already have 3 long sleeved ones!)
Jersey blazer.
Raglan striped tee.
Lightening bolt tee
Metallic striped tee.
Venice beach dress.

Aarrghh....

Ooooh really like the tara neck this season with the v-neck. Very VERY tempting. I have already ordered from this collection:
Dungarees [ I am wearing them ha ha]
Marble tee - I love it.
Lightning bolt tee.
Am currently waiting on
Denim skirt [ pencil]
The grey heart tee and the cloud tee.
I think thats enough for me this month Blush

I've ordered the piper dress in white, dungarees, yellow raglan top, white shirt with small lightening on (can't remember the name!) and the same print dress Blush really want to try the dungarees and the piper dress, I will more than likely be returning some of it (I hope) !!!

The blue in the new collection is super isn't it? I've ordered the sweat top.

Doors I am too scared to order or wear anything in white, even if I do think the dress is beautiful.

I do agree that the jumpers are not the best quality for the price. I bought 2 from Boden (don't normally shop there very often) that were cheaper and you can chuck in the wash, no bobbling either.

So gutted by the colours of the Tara dress this year. I lived in the navy one last summer and I don't think the striped will work for me. I was hoping for khaki or a lighter blue.

Totally agree Lambzig - black does nothing for me, I like the v and don't mind the stripe but was really hoping for a paler blue. I lived and died in my navy one last summer.

I'm not too excited by the new collection unfortunately. I've ordered this raw edge t shirt in French blue. I'm blonde so hoping it suits me. I want the reversible star jumper in navy too but the comments on the poor quality of the jumpers are putting me off.
For those thinking of the raglan tee, mine stretched at least one full size in the wash. I bought two last year, one small and one XS. I'm a size 10 on top. I never wear the small one now as it's stretched so much it falls off my shoulders.

Grin@ Well.

I think with Hush, you look at the collection initially and think 'meh', then look again and think 'oh that's actually pretty nice', then look a bit more...

I currently have the long harems, star slub tee and aloha jumper sitting in my basket but I don't get paid for another week.

HoHumming · 17/02/2017 12:06

What colour aloha are you getting?
I have a grey star knit jumper and I think the quality is shoddy. It is really thin and perhaps if I was a size 8 it would hang/drape nicely. I'm a size 10-12 (a S in Hush) and it looked old after a couple of washed. I have the Adele and like it as it is thicker but I have only washed it once. For some reason Hush clothes wrinkle A LOT.

I'm wearing a long sleeved raglan too today and I like the bright colours. Tossing up whether to go with another one in blue or the French blue linen top. I don't think it looks its price tag though. I have ordered both along with the Zoe top in pink and white stripe. It looks fresh but I'm hoping none will suit and I will return all of them! I really should just buy one knit jumper instead.

Ok, so reporting back on the Piper dress...

It is nice and the shape is flattering BUT:

  • it comes up big - it's a flowy style so it's not the torso that is the issue but the arm holes on the size 12 showed my bra cup at the front and the ribcage strap which is a pet hate of mine. I am a standard size 12 but would need a 10 at least in it
  • the white one is COMPLETELY see through and would need lining, which I (or my mum) could do if I loved it
  • it just doesn't feel particularly expensive, and it's brand new. I worry that after a few washes it would look like a rag. It's also very thin fabric

So it's going back and I might consider a smaller size in the sale. The good news is I reckon I could probably fit an 8 or even a 6 if the middle sizes are unavailable by then...

I'm going for the blue aloha jumper. I like the pink but not as much as I like the blue.

Could you wear a white vest top under the piper? Being see through might be why they call it a cover up? It is a nice shape though. Thanks for letting us know. It is hard to judge when there aren't any reviews.

Went to John Lewis yesterday to do a bit of a recce on the new collection as I really wasn't impressed with anything in A/W 2016 one.

Plus I was a bit wary re: quality - black leggings I bought last Spring went distinctly downhill pretty quickly (colour washed out after only a few washes, seams started to come apart). NOT impressed as they were £25 (well, OK, I bought them with a 10% discount, so really paid £22.5 but STILL Shock).

Wasn't impressed by lots of knitwear even though all the stars dotted around look lovely. I have a feeling it would all go shapeless after a wash or two. Still tempted by Starbright Jumper as JL (Edinburgh) didn't have it in stock.

I like having ribbed cuffs/ribbed waistband on jumpers and the only Hush one that seems to have this looks like a shapeless candidate (see above). The rest have got really thin ribbed waistbands which I don't think suits me at all.

I also don't like they call, what is essentially, a cardigan, a jacket. Confused

But I still want to buy at least 50% of the current collection just because it looks nice on models. I mean, I don't need any more harem & harem-like trousers (own 2); Hemingway duster coat that frays after each wear (apparently a great feature, according to Hush); don't need any more skinny jeans; don't want to get sucked into buying pricey knitwear that will go bobble-up/turn into a shapeless rag.

They are certainly very canny at selling you "the Hush lifestyle". Wink
