Stropps, I think if going next Thursday feels right to you and is manageable - and is less/not as quick as dd has asked for/demanded - then that is a good plan. I agree with all the others that she needs to step up, but the steps can be little ones if in the right direction, maybe? It all sounds exhausting Flowers.

Feb is a short month, Cocoa......

And BTM, that's good news - more little steps in the right direction.

Loving the CV costume possibilities. About ready to start peeling off some thermals here.....

NUFC69 · 27/01/2017 18:16

Excellent news, BTM.

Auriga, I loved the idea of the tree planting. I have a Christmas cactus on my kitchen windowsill - it was my D Dad's (he died over 20 years ago), and it's in a plant pot which DDiL gave me which has DGS's fingerprints on it - I love the connection between the generations.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/01/2017 18:35

Interview was awful and I was absolutely useless. But a) I am still angry about the other job and b) I didn't really want this one.

NUFC69 · 27/01/2017 19:29

Sorry to hear that. MrsS. WineFlowers I hope you can put it all out of your mind over the weekend.

herbaceous · 27/01/2017 19:49

I bet you get the job, mrs s, with your air of casual insouciance.

I had cast off a thermal layer, but am now regretting it, as am in freezer by church AGAIN with DS's chorister-ing. I should be at home with wine.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 27/01/2017 19:50

Just downed a very large sherry - TGIF!

Blackduck · 27/01/2017 20:44

Crem I'd be over like a shot but for the rubbish here!!!
But I have irons in the fire that I hope will improve my life generally - boot just job possibilities.
Stropps you are so right. You cannot be at DDs beck and call. You offered a solution.

Auriga · 27/01/2017 21:08

I'm a big fan of baby steps.

Unexpectedly lovely day. Was expecting to work but gratefully bowed out when I discovered I wasn't really needed.

Big dog walk; lots of satisfying little jobs around house; a luxurious bath; some outstanding soup-making and now I'm on the York train with DD.

And I found a heartbreakingly funny video of Mum on Burns Night last year, reading from Tam O' Shanter with great wit and expression, while the cat tried to drown her out with purring and walked up and down over her lap on the couch Grin

Auriga · 27/01/2017 21:10

MrsS, in the circumstances you describe it's almost a certainty that you will be offered the job.

Blackduck · 27/01/2017 21:19

Auriga is right re job MrsS

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/01/2017 21:42

No, I was really bad. The others would have had to have just grunted or honked at the panel to have been worse than me. I panicked and my mind went blank. What made it even worse is that the hiring manager is a mate of mine and asked me to apply for the job. I could see her thinking, wtaf? There are more that I can apply for, and one that would be a much better fit for me anyway.

hattymattie · 27/01/2017 21:43

BTM - so glad it went ok for DS.

Mrs S Wine and here's hoping.

Am slobbed in front of 8/10 Cats having had Wine and Hagen Daaz.

DD2 got house in York which looks nicer than our actual homeEnvy

Rudy - well, why not live it up, now that you can? By the time DM was my age she had a 28yo, but I can't imagine being free to live my own life for quite some time. But then again, I had my entire twenties to please myself.

Am just watching Graham Norton interviewing the Trainspotting gang. The new film might be worth a trip to the cinema. Or there's Lion, which I've heard great things about. You can keep La La Land - I'm not a huge fan of musicals, and DH would sooner stick pins in his eyes.

MrsWobble3 · 27/01/2017 23:19

I saw LaLa land and it was good but not as good as the hype had led me to believe. The previous week we saw Live By Night which I enjoyed as much.

IDismyname · 27/01/2017 23:38

BTM sorry. Missed your good news. It is indeed baby steps that will get you there.

MrsS you may surprise yourself and get the job. You never know...

motherinferior · 27/01/2017 23:55

I have been out with people I haven't seen since school.Shockthis was curiously successful though I hope I don't have a hangover tomorrow...

Stropperella · 28/01/2017 04:32

Urgh, on the sleepless bench again. :(

Auriga · 28/01/2017 05:36

Hiya Stropps, still awake? Buzzy head?

Crikey you three - I just woke up. I hope you're all getting some kip at last.

Rudy that is so kind of you to offer. I'm not sure of the logistics for DD1 yet but if you do genuinely have storage space might take you up on it.

Any news from Molly?

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 28/01/2017 07:52

CV, go and see Lion. It's amazing!

I really don't want to see LaLa Land but I have promised dd2 a trip tomorrow. It's either that, Moana or Fantastic Beasts....

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/01/2017 08:49

Auriga - that video. What a lovely memory to have.

We are meeting Trump-fleeing friends for breakfast.

NUFC69 · 28/01/2017 09:09

Beachy, DSis and her DH went to see La La Land the other week and said it was rubbish and she couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. She commented particularly on the female lead and said her voice was very weak.

Hasty, it's good that DD2 is sorted out in York and it sounds as if she has fallen on her feet. You never know, we might get to meet up (hopeful).

Another weekend of doing not very much apart from DGC tonight - but good news of the day is that today is the last day when I am not allowed to drive - so looking forward to being able to do my own thing.
