Completely agree Lib!Grin

libertydoddle · 31/01/2017 20:40

Cross post Blingy, I was talking about the top. I cannot believe you have just linked that pink horror. I feel MNV has been sullied Shock Grin

Dreamqueen · 31/01/2017 20:44

Smile at those trousers.

I like that black jumpey Blingy & agree that it would suit Shop .

No S&B news here. I'm trying to up my beauty regime and use all the products that I got in various advent Calendars. I've realised that it requires more effort than stacking them up neatly in the bathroom cabinet. I'm actually quite lazy at double cleansing etc etc so trying hard to up my game.

Longislandicetee · 31/01/2017 20:45

Love this Ted Baker knitted dress. Pity there's not one in my size!

Longislandicetee · 31/01/2017 20:50

Snort! Lib in my defence QueenC links occasional horrors like that Grin

Yes I love that top but given u have about 5cm between my boobs and waist, it so wouldn't suit.

Good for you Dream

By the way great job One on the weight loss!

My ootd is my teenager look: Abercombie & Fitch cream joggers and with A&F long sleeved pink top. So that's why I was looking at the Selfridges new in this week for some inspiration!

Drywhitethanks · 31/01/2017 21:28

Silence and then those pink trousers GrinShock

Ootd felt good today.
Warehouse fitted sleeveless shift in jacquard black, blush pink and greys
Black fitted long line cardigan with skinny belt
Black opaque
Black suede pumps
Lots of positive comments.

Need a decent black skinny belt

shopafrolic · 31/01/2017 22:15

Have I got a long torso? How do you know? Genuine question. I know I have long legs but no idea what it means when people say long torso, or short waisted etc etc.......

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 31/01/2017 22:15

Same goes for broad shoulders.....

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 31/01/2017 22:22

I also enjoyed my Ootd:

White lace high neck top
Black leather pencil skirt
Red waist belt (vintage, nicked from my mum's wardrobe)
Black patent louboutins.

That was about all I enjoyed about today!

Drywhitethanks · 31/01/2017 22:56

Great outfit Amber

Bit like you Shop........... Sometimes I find on some items I'm a bit short waisted' but that's because I'm short. I've never met a shortie with a long torso Hmm
Now broad shoulders I get....think Sharon Davies.....nightmare for tailoring I suppose. can you be narrow shouldered ?

Longislandicetee · 01/02/2017 08:01

Fab outfit Amber

Shop someone is short waisted when the distance between their shoulders and waistline is shorter than average. A very quick and easy way to tell if you have a short waist is to stand up straight, and see if you can fit two hand widths under your bust to your waist (narrowest point). If you can fit more than two hand widths you have a long waist, less than two, a short waist.

Mine is 1 and a bit.Blush It makes a huge difference to how I dress because most models are long waisted so what can look terrific on them can look awful on me. So as a short waisted person I try and wear stuff that will elongate the torso. Hence my endless search for perfect jackets as they have to end just below my waist line. I stick to mid to low rise jeans, jeans and skirts. I have to wear skirts and dressed that stop just above the knee - below the knee looks frumpy and too high above the knee is inappropriate. Tops and sweaters can be a nightmare. V neck is fraught with difficulties because too low and my torso disappears but crew necked (which is generally much better) has to look right because I am busty. So perfect outfit for me has to take into account colour (winter), body shape (hour glass which is most difficult to dress) and being short waisted. It's amazing I managed to get dressed!Grin

Anyway, if you're long waisted then I guess you do the opposite to what I just said and of you're in proportion then you're jammy and don't have to think about it!!!

queencerulean · 01/02/2017 08:22

Long waisted is a nightmare too blingy. A lot of tops are too short for me. I also seem to have a long crotch area so a lot of trousers will give me camel toe.
shop I just know I've got a long body purely because of tops and also I often need longer length swimming costumes otherwise they just don't stretch. In comparison to my height my legs are also short. Dd who is a couple of inches shorter than me has the same leg length!!

I liked my outfit yesterday too. Wore my favourite Toast top. Will be gutted when that top dies as I literally wear it every week over autumn/winter. Wearing another favourite BR blouse today.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/02/2017 09:19

I'm short waisted with a long torso

Everyonelovessparkles · 01/02/2017 11:36

blingy those pick trousers were hideous and the price Shock

Nice OOTD (yesterday) dry and amber.

Congratulations on the weight loss one and great to hear that your new doctor sounds supportive.

Got a poorly DS today so no nursery for him. All he wants his mummy cuddles, which is nice, but not so much when I've got a million things to do.

shopafrolic · 01/02/2017 13:59

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 01/02/2017 15:47

i can fit exactly 2 hand widths from under bust to waist BUT i do have very small hands so not sure what that makes me! generally speaking the waists on things sit where they should though. I do have very short legs though, my friend measured my inside leg and it was approximately 26 inches. I think i am roughly in proportion though, i don't think i'm especially unbalanced looking, mostly the only things i have to changed about clothes is having arms shortened a little and having the leg on jeans shortened because they are always too long! I have to be honest and say i often dont bother getting jeans shortened because i wear boots a lot and the bottom just tucks into my boots, i never wear them over the top of my boots

thank you all for your kind words about the weight loss and your support about the doctor. I am really pleased that i seem to have found someone who is on board with getting me the right treatments and making sure i have the medicine i need when i need it.

I'm loving being in London, i feel like i can breathe again and it seems like all the stress i was under in my previous home has just melted away and i feel so much more like my actual self rather than a stressed and depressed shadow of it. I have to thank every single one of you for all your support while i was living away from DP, you have all been invaluable in making me feel better about what really was a miserable time for me. It means a lot that you were all there for me when i needed you, even if you dont feel like you did anything, you did, you all did Thanks

wearing a dress today i havent worn in about 6 months and i don't think it's going to fit for long if i lose any more weight because the top of it is already really quite loose and baggy on me and the waist is definitely too big. i might get it cut down into a skirt at some point because i really love the floral print on it but i think it might be too much hassle to try and downsize the top of the dress so having it cut down into a skirt might be the way forward with it

queencerulean · 01/02/2017 16:10

Oh one, that's so lovely that you're so happy. And I meant to say, hurrah for the weight loss and new doctor!
blair dresses rarely fit me on the waist-next, monsoon and warehouse often do but struggle elsewhere.

libertydoddle · 01/02/2017 18:51

One I am absolutely delighted you are feeling better and settling in well in London.

I am exactly two hand widths from under bust to waist. Dry I think you can have narrow shoulders - I often find I have to size down in jackets to get a good fit on the shoulders and then they don't fasten up properly. It's very annoying.

AmberNectarine · 01/02/2017 19:09

I don't even have 2 hands width but I have a really high waist.

Have done some good shopping:

Zara dress

SW boots

Baukjen dress

FedupNagging · 01/02/2017 19:37

One it is great seeing you post more on thread and I am really happy that you are so happy now too. I hope we get to meet at the next MU.

Those Mick Jagger trousers are um, unusual. I often wonder if anyone actually buys these more outlandish/garish clothes? Certainly no-one where I live that's for sure.

Nice purchases Amber - really like the wide belt with the Zara dress. How is the house purchase going?

Nice ootd's yesterday; I loved mine too - Asos white s/s shirt under French connection navy jumper, grey H&M stretchy pencil skirt, navy opaques and navy brogues.

Everyone did you get much done today? Hope minione is feeling better.

I can't say I've ever thought about high waist/short waist but in the interest of this thread, what is left of my waist is 1 hand-width. And I have short legs short everything in fact Grin

FedupNagging · 01/02/2017 19:40

For dog lovers

FedupNagging · 01/02/2017 19:45

Dm would take one look at the finish on this hem and have a conniption

Longislandicetee · 01/02/2017 20:44

Blair my head exploded right alongside Shop's. Have PMd you back.

Hope miniEveryone is better Flowers

One lovely to hear you being all settled. You're all in proportion if you're exactly 2 hands. Has to be your hands no one elses! Lucky you and Lib

Amber I love the Zara dress and what a fab bargain on those boots!!

FedUp that dog thing isn't quite as bad as the pink trousers but definitely not my bad! Oh and £400 for that hem?

Everyonelovessparkles · 01/02/2017 21:43

DS is much better thanks. Luckily he had a long nap this afternoon so I was able to power through lots of stuff.

Those boots were a good bargain amber.

Interesting dog pattern fedup it reminded me a bit of those hideous fleeces that you sometimes see a certain type of person wearing. I remember seeing lots of them in Blackpool when we went when I was younger. (Not on the drunk hen parties)

Everyonelovessparkles · 01/02/2017 21:48

£80!!! or for cat lovers
