They're gorgeous jackets though Dry. Worth trying on at least? I just wonder if it will look dramatic like your all black outfit for the last MU. It's a lot of money so if they're any doubts after you have tried it on then send back pronto! do as I say not as I do

A sore and melancholy start for me today. Both dcs have colds and have passed on to me so my throat is raw. I can't seem to catch a health break. Ds came to sleep with me in the middle of the night. I remembered a thread about this poor woman whose 4 week old baby died and I was just lying watching him snore feeling grateful. Which meant when my alarm went off i switched it off and fell asleep again. Thank goodness for dd as dh ( who has flu) is 3000 miles away.Sad

ootd - the least sexiest but cuddly m&s pjs you can imagine. Grin

Longislandicetee · 25/01/2017 08:02

Linus I love those kind of dresses. Unfortunately they don't love me or my boobs back.Grin

libertydoddle · 25/01/2017 08:48

Lovely dress Linus.

Blingy thank goodness DD woke up. I had a disturbed night too. DD wet the bed (happens whenever any change in routine looms and my DB and SIL are coming tonight to stay for 4 days so it's probably that). Cue half an hour of consoling her at 4am then having her sleep with me...Am shattered now.

BTW for sore throat gargle one part TCP to 5 parts water. Tastes disgusting but works really well. My tonsils on one side were swollen and V sore yesterday. Sorted two hours after gargling!

OOTD Boden print dress, Ines for Uniqlo olive double breasted knit jacket, brown opaques, heeled tan Chelsea boots, Hobbs oversized teal coat, Boden cashmere scarf. Cashmere Beanie and gloves too as so cold.

Wishing everyone a good day.

shopafrolic · 25/01/2017 10:53

Burgundy would be brill for you Dry but not black leather. :)
So cold and gloomy and downright horrible here. I am looking at holidays and expensive leisure club memberships to cheer me up.
Mara you may be able to help actually....... did you use the gym and pool when you stayed at the hotel near me? If so, could you PM me your experience..... was it busy? Flowers
Why do we have a Football and a Bear now but still no champagne glass Mumsnet?! Grin
MiniShop turns 6 tomorrow - unbelievable how quickly that time has gone. The ToysRUs trip was a success so he should be a very happy birthday boy tomorrow :)

Who was after a Parka a while back? There are lots of Parka London parkas in the sale on ASOS now..............

mara big hugs,, I know how stressful your industry is, Specially in London, But you seem to know it very well, and I think its probably your own worries about the whole idea of doing an internship, and not you doing something wrong that is stressing you, chin up! be calm and confident about your abilities, you can make it.
dry I like the black, think its quite elegant , black or tan are more versatile ,can be worn all year round ,and goes with anything, think burgundy is a bit too limiting,

linus love that dress,I've seen it, fabric is bit heavy ,so not ideal for summer,

Alexandra shulman has resigned as editor of vouge , wonder who would place her? Sarah Harris?

LinusLovesBretons · 25/01/2017 14:09

Morning!

Oh I really hope the fabric is not too heavy lara! But I will spend most of the summer in airconditioned surroundings so hopefully it won't matter.

And yes blingy, having small boobs does help with certain styles of clothes. Wink

lib my DFIL swears by TCP. Love the sound of your OOTD!

Interesting about British Vogue lara, I wonder if Anna Wintour will ever resign from American Vogue. Apparently she's going to become Granny Anna, so maybe then? Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 25/01/2017 14:23

Hi all

I literally can't wait for the end of January, need pay day! It's so cold and miserable at the moment and I'm so uninspired.

Only good thing that happened is I collected my coat which is now perfect :) and I was really happy because they gave me a coathanger, coat carrier and nice big carrier bag even though I didn't buy it from them! Blingy if you think you need your coat adjusting then they will do it free within 3 months I think. Hope your throat is better soon Flowers

Mara hang on in there, it will get better and go faster than you could imagine. It's such a big change but like you say, you've done amazingly well to get the job, you must be doing lots of things right.

I realised that my Dsis's baby is due 13th March so depending on when she's born I might not be able to make the MU... but hopefully the timings will work out :)

Stokey · 25/01/2017 14:29

Interesting about Alexandra Shulman Lara. I wonder if all the publicity over the last year was anything to do with it - although I'd say it was largely positive. I guess she's been there a long time.

The whole intern thing is so tricky Mara - in fact it makes me quite angry that so many creative industries basically rely on unpaid labour. I do wonder if it's related to the fact that they tend to be female-dominated too. Easier to not pay a woman than a man grrr. Am happy to meet for a drink if i can be of any help.

I didn't go to the Hush sale in the end. I decided I'd bought too much lately and didn't need anything else. A friend went and has bought lots though, have slight FOMO now.

Drywhitethanks · 25/01/2017 20:53

thanks for all the black leather jacket feedback. It's not really me is it?
Never mind, I'm only buying things I really love.
And guess what?
I fell in love today Grin
Didn't I say I fancied a burgundy coat?
Well, there it was, all by itself on the rail, in my size , calling me over.......
Fashion fate strikes again
Voila......this coat

And in true MNV one in one out fashion I'm getting rid of a horrendous and expensive sale mistake from 3/4 years ago.......hideous green coat be gone Grin

I agree Shop why do we need Bear? When we really need [fizz]..........and happy birthday to my little friend.

shopafrolic · 25/01/2017 21:42

Perfect for you Dry - fashion fate indeed Smile

Perfect colour for you dry!

Dreamqueen · 26/01/2017 06:59

Lovely coat Dry

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/01/2017 08:37

Great coat dry, it's a really lovely colour. And fashion fate as you said Smile

blair did you buy the sequinned dress for the party? I hadn't seen anything as bright or as cheap on my perusals. Hope you can make the MU, would be nice to meet you.

First day in the office this year Shock OOTD is black leather skirt from jigsaw and my new grey embroidered oasis jumper, lkbennet black suede ankle boots, black ted baker jacket with my black longchamp Pilage and cross body personalised fossil bag (I love this bag. It's so neat, yet quite roomy.) brightened up with a berry check scarf. Am pleased with this outfit, even DD says this morning 'you look really pretty mummy!' Mini voguette in the making Grin

Happy birthday to minishop hope he was pleased with all his presents. 🎁🎉🎂

stokey there was a thread about the hush sale. I got the impression from the thread that it might be on again today if you wanted to go??

maradesbois · 26/01/2017 09:09

Morning!

Stokey I would just leave the hush sale. FOMO nearly made me rush to queue for charlotte Olympia ss at 7.30 am this summer but then realised I still have shoes and bag from last one have never used. My friend got lots of good stuff like yours but there'll always be another one. And yes please to after work mini mu, with Marsha too to discuss the perils, pitfalls and positives of the creative industries!

Dry love the burgundy coat, perfect for you. It looks really well cut. Regarding the leather jacket though am going against the consensus to say that black biker is a classic wardrobe staple that can work for pretty much everyone and I think much easier to wear than say leather trousers. I have similar colouring to you and would wear.

Linus love the dress, would have picked that one out for you too! Hope the size and fabric work out.

Feeling more settled again at work, you're all right that it's a period of adjustment. I am starting to appreciate that the fact they took me on at all, even for free, means a lot in this business. Even though the work itself is not very intellectually stimulating to say the least it is all about them seeing potential in you for the future.

Ootd is old VW plaid wool mini with grey Marant skinny polo neck, opaques and tod's brogues. Having a dinner at home tonight, dh and I have planned it all, scallops and Scottish girolles to start with a vintage champagne from the 90s, rib of beef with green beans, Stilton & vintage port and my lemon cake for pudding. Not bad for a weekday evening in January!

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/01/2017 10:46

Glad you're feeling more positive mara. Your OOTD sounds great. Very jealous of your dinner plans, sounds fab! Can I come? Grin

shopafrolic · 26/01/2017 12:15

Mara that sounds amazing! We're taking miniShop to Pizza Express Grin DH is working from home today and has just suggested we go out for lunch too which is lovely. I'm just back from a Jane Scrivner facial at my friend's salon just along from my house which was so relaxing. Skin looks great but I'm very greasy now!
miniShop is over the moon with his new Amazon Fire tablet (he calls it his iPad). It was a struggle to get him to go to school. I'm taking him to ToysRus later to spend some of his birthday money and then for pizza. Twice in one week for ToysRus Shock I must be mad. No more for months after this.
OOTD is very dull as it is so cold. Black GAP skinnies, IM Crisi boots, black Cos polo neck over thermal vest and All Saints cardigan

Happy birthday to Minishop

No great S&b news here except that I collected these Clarks loafers They fit perfectly & will will a flat shoe style gap in my Spring wardrobe. I also bought this denim dress, think it might make a good holiday cover up as the material is quite light.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/01/2017 12:44

Happy birthday miniShop! Sounds like he will have a fab day :)

Everyone I didn't buy the sequin dress, I'm so poor this month! Can't even justify a £30 dress! I'm thinking of just wearing my bright yellow Gorgeous Couture dress. Hope your first day back goes ok - how come you're only just back this year?

Mara glad you're feeling better, sounds like a lot of ups and downs, don't overthink it! Flowers OOTD sounds perfect.

Dry the coat looks excellent for you! Burgundy and camel are "your" colours, I always think :)

libertydoddle · 26/01/2017 17:37

Great coat dry. Real fashion fate!

Glad to hear minishop had a good day Cake.

Mara, Marsha and Stokey please include me in any evening mini mu plans...I had a coffee this morning with sleep which was great!

I am so cold on train home it's making me feel slightly nauseous Confused.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 26/01/2017 18:30

happy birthday miniShop Star Cake

i am all bunged up with a cold so have been hiding indoors. not feeling inspired fashion wise at all, just in a black long sleeved woolly dress with cream lace collar.

I realised today how long my hair has got and keep thinking i should do....something with it but what i don't know. I don't think i'm committed enough to changing anything about it to actually get anything done but maybe one day i'll go for it. that said, long hair has some advantages, one being that its easier to tie it up or back if i want it out of the way and it doesn't have to be 'styled' if i don't want it to be

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/01/2017 18:55

blair I've been working, just from home, so today was first day this year I've been into the actual office. My pass didn't even work as I hadn't been in more than 30 days. Shock Maybe a good call to wear the GC dress, as would you have worn the sequinned dress again? You may have no money but you have the coat of your dreams! Grin

Glad minishop liked all his presents. Nothing wrong with pizza express. Smile

one I'm a bit like you with my hair. I pretty much keep it the same. I'm thinking of getting some highlights for a change so maybe something like that would work for you if you fancied a change but don't want to go for the chop?

Drywhitethanks · 26/01/2017 19:14

Ootd sound fab everyone.
Mine was BR Sloane for cigarette trousers, cobalt merino 3/4 sleeve round neck swing jumper from Jigsaw, R and B tan Chelsea boots, long necklace....heatech vest, extra socks, cold weather down coat ... freezing!

FedupNagging · 26/01/2017 22:07

Fab coat Dry and I absolutely love the colour.

Everyone great ootd.

Happy birthday to MiniShop. Are you doing a party at the weekend Shop?

Nice purchases the other day Fairylane and how gorgeous are those suede boots swoon

Like the denim dress cover up - I was looking at it the other day, what a bargain!

Talking of bargains, I am keeping this Whistles dress I picked up in the Next sale. It looks fab with navy opaques and either my Ash Jalouse or Next metallic chelsea boots - can't wait to wear it when the weather warms up.
