Evening! I have had a busy day interspersed with some online shopping.....From Selfridges, where I got this Karen Millen knitted jacket, a Ted Baker skater dress (the florals are far enough away from my face
) and a Michael Kors jumpsuit. And from the Outnet, where i got a DvF cardigan, Chloe lace up ballet flats (love the 50% off!) and Michael Kors cropped jeans. A real mixture of some of favourite brands.
Everyone, yes I am usually dressed in a more formal way for work. My go to dresses over the last few years have been Roland Mouret, Armani, with a handful of LK Bennett, MaxMara, and Me & Em thrown in. Speaking of which...
Shop, so i decided to invest in Me&EM. (Before i continue i should say that this is not encouragement for anyone else especially lurkers to invest, the chances of seeing any money back are close to zero than 50% and even if i do, i won't see it back for a 10 years). So with that off my chest.... so it's quite interesting from a fashion point of view. They have actually had a 20% increase in revenue over the last year from something like £3.8m to just over £5m and they have 1.5m hits to their website last year, which is massively up from the previous year. They haven't made a profit, they're still young to do so. So despite the fact that we keep moaning that they should go back to their roots and make those lovely dresses again, they are clearly appealing to lots of people. Personally i think their big appeal is that they have been worn by the Duchess of Cambridge and a couple of celebs and so they have that cache, however, some of their clothes this season are totally impractical for the premium brand clothes market. This is important because the main shoppers in that market are professional women, but as it is not aimed at teeny boppers, it means that we usually have children in tow. Impractical clothes not very helpful then! However, there are enough people who will slavishly follow the celebs which is why they have had huge increase in their websites visits, despite the fact that its been a long time since the DoC was spotted in that Breton. The reason why they fund raising is to invest in their digital content, experience etc to increase their chances of converting more of those 1.5m website visits into actual revenues. Oh and for some bizarre reason they want to open another shop. If they can get it right, then i think they would become profitable and become attractive to a buyer and i am quids in. However, it's a big IF! Sorry for the essay but as i said its interesting to me from both a fashion, business and investor perspective - 3 of the things i am passionate about all rolled into one!
Dh and I are out this evening for the first time in 4 months....have lovely evenings all!
