Cocoa Flowers
'Peaceful' in particular and '5 start staff' are things to clutch onto I feel.

Lalsy · 01/12/2016 09:14

So sorry lovely Cocoa. Odd is normal even when expected. One hour at a time. Look after yourself x

Blackduck · 01/12/2016 10:15

Cocoa - sympathy. Odd is normal. And may well be for some time. Take care of yourself and do not feel guilty about stepping away on occasion.

Collymollypuff · 01/12/2016 10:44

Oh, Cocoa. I am so sorry to hear this. Look after yourself, and do share on here as well as private messaging if you feel so inclined - please don't be concerned about clogging up the thread; we all benefit from other Crepeys' experience. Thanks

hattymattie · 01/12/2016 11:33

Cocoa - just to say how sorry I am to hear your sad news. No useful advice as I haven't yet been there myself and I'm dreading it. I think what BD says about stepping away on occasion sounds good.

herbaceous · 01/12/2016 13:22

Thirded re non-clogging. We all clog at times. (By 'we all' and 'at times' I mean 'I' and 'always'.)

Can I pop something into 'light relief' corner? DP spotted the parking fine on the kitchen counter, and said without batting an eyelid 'just pay for that out of the JA'. Why do I work myself up into such frenzies?

He also bought me some Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, as requested, for my birthday. Sadly he bought it in 'tan' rather than 'nude. It makes me look like Donald Trump.

bigTillyMint · 01/12/2016 13:25

Do you think he's been reading the thread Herbs?!
Can you exchange the foundation?Grin

So what excit in treats did those of you with M+S calendars get this morning? Envy

Cremolafoam · 01/12/2016 13:33

Oh Herbs. Thank goodness.

Dearest Cocoa , I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. It can't be anything but shock added to by wretched combination of the night driving and lack of sleep. If you didn't feel odd, I'd be worried frankly.
Take all the time you need. Chat here if you feel like it. As others have said, if it helps to feel there is somewhere to just say things out loud, make it be here, as we are all in the same or similar boats.

Am looking at March dates for coming over.

Cremolafoam · 01/12/2016 13:33

Aargh forgot about calendar. Runs to tree

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 01/12/2016 15:07

Tree, Crem???? Already? Xmas Grin

NUFC69 · 01/12/2016 15:15

BTM, I have got some Burts Bees hand cream; it smells delicious.

So glad to hear that DP volunteered the JA for the parking fine, Herbs.

I am in shock; I went for my pre op this morning, all the usual stuff, BP, urine sample, bloods, MRSA swabs, ecg etc., and was told they would ring me if there were any problems. I got home to discover a message on the answering machine to ring the consultant's secretary. Cue much hyperventilating on my part, wondering what was wrong with me. They actually wanted to bring forward my operation date so I am now going in on Saturday. 17th December at 7.00 am. Why bringing it forward by two days has affected me so much I don't know, except I have so much to do.....

Lalsy · 01/12/2016 16:30

NU, it is discombobulating after a morning of tests to get The Phone Call, perhaps, whatever the content? Glad it is all set to go ahead though.

hattymattie · 01/12/2016 16:32

NU - I'm like this - psychologically all geared up to a specific date. I think it's great that the op has been pulled forward - all will be done and dusted before Christmas.

DH - is away tonight - I am going to slob around and have an M&S quiche to share with DS.

Herbs - there you go - DH was lovely after all.

bigTillyMint · 01/12/2016 16:47

NU, I don't blame you if you had already made plans. As Lalsy says, discombobulating. But at least it wasn't postponed.

NUFC69 · 01/12/2016 18:14

I think you're right, discombobulated is the best way to describe it. And, yes, I will easily be out before Christmas. I met a woman yesterday who was having hers done on the 23rd December; she wanted to know if she would be capable of lighting the wood burner and feeding the dogs when she got home, as she lived by herself. I didn't like to say, 'no chance'. I just hope they keep her in and don't send her home.

IDismyname · 01/12/2016 18:27

Thank you. Thank you. Thank You...for all my PMs and messages on here.

Weird - tick
Odd - tick
Overwhelmingly tired but not sleepy - tick

...and now I think I could join NUF on the Discombobulated Bench.
(Do you have gin?)

Herbs - I am so glad you're over this particular financial 'bump'

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2016 18:46

So sorry to hear the news, Cocoa. Nothing prepares you for this, so it isn't surprising that you don't know what to feel. Sadness mixed with a little relief that his struggles are over, I guess? Look after yourself. Gin helps you sleep, so I hear. Wink

NU, that's a Good Thing - you will have two days more recovery under your belt before Christmas.

M&S Advent Calendar off to a flying start with some yummy handcream. Last year I started an "open along with me" thread, but didn't get round to it this year.

Nice to have DS home this evening. He has completed his three training evenings at work and starts properly next week. He's loving it so far. Still driving whenever he can, although is starting to develop the odd cocky habit (one hand on knee, that sort of thing).

Had a slightly tetchy text from DB, wondering why we haven't yet confirmed if we're staying over on Christmas Day night. I replied saying something about DS's shifts not yet sorted (a lie). I think he will be somewhat cat's-bum when he finds out we won't actually get to his until 2pm. Ah well, if he kicks off we'll stay here. The DCs don't want to go anyway.

Cocoa, I'm very sorry to hear about your dad.

Dd is full of all the happy emojis about her M&S and Superdrug advent calendars. I am full of all the happy emojis because in one week she will have managed a whole term at university, somewhat against the odds.

Herbs, you know your dp is a good 'un really. Smile

Stropperella · 01/12/2016 22:16

NU, sorry you're feeling a bit wobbly - but I would too under those circs. Still, better to have it all done and dusted a good week before Christmas, I should think.

Lalsy · 01/12/2016 22:35

Blimey Stropps, take a bow. That is quite something.

Cocoa, hope you sleep better tonight.

MontserratCaballe · 01/12/2016 23:24

Thinking of you, cocoa.

Stropps, just wow. You have done a brilliant job. I am so pleased for you all. Well done to you both Flowers. I hope this might be a small turning point. Will keep everything crossed.

Rudy, how is your ds doing now? Am collecting m and s calendar tomorrow so will report back.

In s and b news, it's 25% off at Sainsbury's til monday. I have bought a few pieces and a really nice (cheap) pair of earrings. Anyone tried the shoes? Super cheap but I wonder if would last ten minutes. Especially as I am heavy on my feet as my mum would have it (prob just heavyWink)

Monty - as the crepey resident sainsbo expert I of course have a pair of their ankle boots from a couple of years ago, and wear them all the time. They're great!

Cremolafoam · 02/12/2016 00:26

Cant sleep. Rattling.

I have a pair of Sainsbo knee boots which cost pence and are leather and people keep telling me they like them.
Are you talking about pleather pumps. If so you are provably right Monty.

NU, hope the date recalibration is working. I hate things being moved up. It is completely maddening. Still, over and done with I suppose, but hope you dont have to make 29 phone calls because of it. ( my idea of hell) Flowers

The tree to which i was referring is the Advent Calendar itself. Do you really think id have mine up already. For the love of the Baby Cheeses.
24th and wed be lucky. Didn't put one up one year and not one sinner, including a 16 yr old dd noticed.
Xmas Angry

Cocoa hope you are sleeping well.

I am at that point of wondering if i should iron or not....

IDismyname · 02/12/2016 07:07

It was a combination of your soothing comments, a large G&T and half a dose of NightNurse.

I did indeed sleep.

Mwah! Thank you Crepeys. You're legends.

Onwards and upwards.
