I know this will be divisive but LEGGINGS

I know people hate them, but I love them.

I've always bought cheapish but thick sturdy ones. I'be read that the calzedonia ones are amazing but £20 which seems mad for leggings but then if they last then worth it?

Tell me where you think the best ever leggings are drom

my favourite ever leggings are the supersoft luxury ones from sainsburys.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/10/2016 11:24

White stuff. Lovely comfy leggings.

Oldraver · 01/10/2016 11:31

Sainsburys single ones, even at £12 are a bargain. I've had some several years and they are still like new, though have shrunk in the leg a little. I have some marl grey ones which goes well with quite a lot of stuff when black may be a bit too dark

Another one with a pot belly and even my Mum commented (very very very rare for her) I had ok legs. Someone upthread commentd that they always covered their bum in leggings....for me this is the only fashion rule, that everyone should follow...

2kids2dogsnosense · 01/10/2016 11:41

Mrs De

Ooooooooh! You will look amazing!

I wish I was still on the right side of 60 - I would get some too.

JohnCrane · 01/10/2016 11:46

LOVE the sequin ones. I don't agree on the no covering bum. That's the point of leggings they make your bum look nice!!!

Next Ponte leggings. Very thick for leggings.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 01/10/2016 12:29

I love leggings but they are not pants/trousers. Leggings should be worn in a similar fashion as tights (although you can get away with shorter dresses and tops with leggings) I wear leggings with dresses (often skater style), jumper dresses and long tops (covering my bottom)

randomsabreuse · 01/10/2016 12:31

I consider leggings like thicker more practical tights you can wear with a shorter skirt and fluffy socks in your boots. Certainly with my rather too substantial arse and chunky thighs... also better for sitting on floor at baby things!

There are people who could carry off leggings as trousers- mostly model types and young children. Sequin ones come under the skinny jeans/jeggings category - unlikely to be see through but I wouldn't wear them because I don't want to draw attention to my legs and arse!

LunaLoveg00d · 01/10/2016 12:36

Only size 0 teenagers wear leggings with crop tops and other items which expose your bum, tummy and the waistband. Those of us of a certain age and who are definitely not size 0 never have arses on show.

When my leggings get thin or "done", I use them as pyjama bottoms. Warm and comfy.

FranklyMeDeer · 01/10/2016 14:34

I'd only ever wear them with tunics or dresses. I'm another that prefers to wear cotton socks and leggings rather than tights. My flabby knees look better in leggings than in tights too.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 01/10/2016 14:36

I love leggings, but definitely only wear them with a long top or short dress. I do have a couple of pairs of jogging I wear with shorter tops but they are much thicker so no worries about them becoming see-through if I bend over.

Agree with Mrs D about footwear, Converse or biker boots, or ballet flats on warmer days. I've also worn them with loafers which looked okay. And I've just bought a pair of knee-length, black riding style boots which I think would work well with leggings and a long, loose top. I'd never wear them with heels though.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 01/10/2016 14:37

Jegging not not jogging, I own nothing that would be suitable for jogging Grin

CaptainBrickbeard · 01/10/2016 14:55

Would anyone recommend some nice tunics or dresses to wear with the leggings? I'm a size 16 hourglass so I really doubt that leggings are going to be a good look for me but I wear tights and smart, fitted dresses all week at work and am desperate for something comfortable to wear at weekends that doesn't feel so restrictive. I am no good at dressing down, I feel like I am always looking formal and would love something a bit more relaxed that doesn't make me look like a sack of spuds.

Stopyourhavering · 01/10/2016 15:05

CaptainBrickbeard try Adini, Joules or White Stuff for tunics....I'm a size 18 and live in this combo at weekends

ScoopskiPotato · 01/10/2016 16:06

For us larger of thigh and tum these from yours are brilliant

ScoopskiPotato · 01/10/2016 16:21

MrsDevere I love those. They would look great with calf length bikers and maybe a leather or suede jacket.

TribbleTrouble · 01/10/2016 16:58

Has anyone had the seasalt legging? How did you find them?

robinsamy · 01/10/2016 17:04

I loathe tights - too restrictive and too much hassle.

Leggings are the ideal alternative - I wear them with socks and boots if it's cold

JohnCrane · 01/10/2016 17:13

FYI went to Calzedonia today and tried on all the leggings. I thought a bit bum flattening and also the material is quite tights like (although thick) and sort of euro grunge feeling IYSWIM. DS (4) thought they were really nice but he really fancied the model in the catalogue so I guess that's his vibe...

Also I saw LOTS of people's bottoms in leggings today not wearing long tops/dresses and they looked fab (big and small) so
I shall be ignoring all of you Grin

White company ones are lovely. V expensive for leggings but really expensive looking fabric and hold in the post c section pouch.

cauliwobbles · 01/10/2016 17:49

I wear with Ash Virgins or Uggs when it's freezing.

0urKid · 01/10/2016 22:11

Scoop I had a £20 voucher for Yours so have ordered two pairs of those. I'm sick of Evans as too short.
