WWW's six week 10year younger boot camp, WEEK SIX ALREADY

WWWCampbellBlack · 05/02/2007 07:27

This is WEEK SIX. I slacked towards the end of last week as did others...

I will start this again after half term too for anyone who wants to join in/start another six week regime.

The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

Cold on the wane so will feel more positive as week progresses. Going to gym this morning to sort out membership. Have walked to school and back and will do it twice more so that will be 1.5 hours of walking today. Food okay but alcohol featured heavily over the w/e (not hangover amounts though). Looking forward to half term to up the happiness quotient - aiming for lots of galleries to add colour to February.

Oati · 05/02/2007 10:18

morning all.

I'm trying to keep up the exercise - went for a bike ride yesterday and have classes booked for Tues and Fri at the gym.

Food and drink somewhat sabotaged this weekend as had visitors to stay.

Also ds1 wanted to make cookies and, as food is not really his thing, I had to seize the moment.

Anyone want a lemon refrigerator cookie?

winnie · 05/02/2007 10:59

Hi guys,

I haven't abandoned the camp. I am still at it I am still losing weight but my skin remains dreadful! Considering all the nice things I am doing for myself I don't quite understand why my skin is so horrid. Could it be stress related?

  • I am using sunscreen
  • Haven't had any alcohol for 9 days
  • I am drinking about a litre of water a day (which is more than I was but still not enough)
  • I am cleansing and moisturising using hand cream and foot cream and body lotion like a woman possessed
  • I am generally going to bed early
  • I am eating healthily including 5+ fruit & veg portions daily
  • I am also taking zinc, multi vits & mins & echinicea daily

Exercise is lacking. The most exercise I seem to get is gardening. I need to force myself to do exercise and that may help my happy hormones too.

Batters, thanks for the email. I will reply

arfishy · 05/02/2007 11:31

Hello all

Have followed the plan. Am slacking off a bit with the water so need to remember to drink more.

I L'oreal Microdermabrasioned and my skin feels good for it. Need to do the hand cream a bit more.

More pressing is the hoardes of scabby insect bites I'm covered with and the toxic fug of insect repellent on me/the furniture/the rugs etc.

Now, getting back to my favourite subject - goji berries . I thought they were just the most nutritionally dense food on the planet. But they are more than that! Apparently, and I quote from 'NW Weekly' - 'Hailed as a super food, it's packed with vitamins C and E, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Drinking it can help increase energy, boost libido, minimise cellulite, assist weight loss and strengthen the cardiovascular system'.

. Goji shot for me first thing, caffeine or no caffeine.

I'm off for some reflexology tomorrow to help support my new goji habit.

WWWCampbellBlack · 05/02/2007 18:01

Blimey at Goji, hmm, maybe I can bring myself to pay 9 quid...

Winnie, I bet it is stress, my skin is terrible when I'm stressed. Well done on the other stuff though

Yoyo, Oati, good, good. Batters, good on the walking and no booze. Sobernow, oh well, the happiness quotient was high at the weekend I'm sure.

Weeeeell, I need to get back with this program, urgently. Drank wine last night AND ate crisps and today

terrible
Granola (500 cals)
a bacon bap
egg mayo/garlic mushrooms/spinach sandwich for lunch (400 cal)
a Kitkat
Americano
a few Lockets
and for the first time in AGES I didn't walk at lunchtime
no sunscreen
And we're having tuna for supper. I might be ok as long as I just have some veg with it. The bacon bap was horrible actually but I wanted grease. And the Kitkat, I wanted sugar. Damn those boys who keep going to the coffee shop for me!

But my get back on track plan includes a v early night, maybe a bath, extra walking tomorrow maybe, no wine for the rest of the week. Ex Dh's cousin's wife died yesterday, leaving 2 young children so hell, I'm glad just to be here, she was only 36

So sad WWW. I'm with Sobernow on the blood pressure thing although I do have mine taken every 6 months or so as I'm asthmatic. As soon as that machine comes out I can feel my pulse all over and my heart thumping. It's usually a bit high but within normal so hoping it will improve.
We had no healthy breakfast food in the house this morning so I had a few cabbage leaves pulled out of the veg box - yum!! I've been shopping now so breakfast tomorrow should be a bit more appetising. Heard today I passed the course I finished last Oct - will celebrate with a bath rather than a bottle of Rioja.

WWW - oh that's terrible. That poor family. .

Sobernow - . Can you get a home monitor on Ebay? Whenever I had my bp measured in the maternity ward when I was pg it always went sky high because I could see the delivery rooms. I could feel it rising just walking in there. It was always much better far, far away from the hospital.

Batters - you are a genius. I nipped off to the Cranberry Institute to investigate. They are absolutely packed with all sorts of incredible health benefits that scientists are still discovering. In short, they have special bacteria inhibiting properties that help protect against heart disease, cancer, stomach ulcers, UTIs, ageing, neurological damage and other diseases.

I am learning so much doing this. You always see 'eat lots of fruit and veg and drink lots of water' in the magazines, it's all sort of yadda yadda yadda to me. I really understand why now, and I've realised that I'm really going to help myself by doing this.

I also went off to the Blackcurrant Foundation and my word, they are also full of things (that's the scientific word for it) that can help prevent Alzheimers, Parkinsons and Dementia2, cell death & ageing and just loads of stuff.

At it's only just 9am! I'm off to my local health emporium to check up on the goji situation and and going to spend some quality time at work investigating fruit.

I wish I'd known about this when I went to visit Tropical Fruit World last month.

WWWCampbellBlack · 05/02/2007 22:18

I know Arfy

lol at you and your fruit investigations. Fab, cranberries it is then.
I am in bed with my laptop having had a small tuna steak, broccoli, peas, baby sweetcorn and green beans for supper
no wine
make up off
body lotion all over
going to sleep Soon

So back on the straight and narrow!

I'm sure I once read a novel by Rupert Everett called The hairdressers of St Tropez. Ring a bell with anyone??

Arfishy, is Tropical Fruit World for real? Do they have rides?

Ashamed to say I had wine - 3 hours of "I want my daddy" from dd3 did it for me (he's in Czech Rep this week ).

Is Tropical Fruit World real?! This is Australia! Of course it's real!

Tropical Fruit World . It's where I got my avocado oil

I dragged a very hungover DP there on New Years Day. Frozen banana on a stick anybody?

(Actually we laughed ourselves senseless when we were still in London and an Australian friend mentioned it was the only theme park she'd been to. I did feel a little bit guilty when we went. DD even got harassed by a giant avocodo.)

Anyway, I had a fabulous day. I found a stash of oolong tea AND some goji juice. And I went for an hour long reflexology session.

I feel completely and utterly healthy.

On the downside, my 'evil corporation' sensor went off as I poured my cranberry 'juice'. . I took a closer look at the label and it was 25% cranberry and then stacks of sugar and water. If I'm going to eat 200 calories, it's going to be in chocolate form, not hidden in cranberry 'juice'. Grrr.

Monkeytrousers · 06/02/2007 09:42

I feel like crap today.
I feel like I've a hang over without the alcohol
Didn't drink enough water yesterday.
Ate g & b 's chocolate and ate homemade organic white bread. Feel utterly dreadful. However, it is a lesson to me.

WWW, that is shocking. I am sorry. How tragic

EnidLloydFoxe · 06/02/2007 10:56

I have been doing this quietly in the background

someone said to me (at party on Sat)

"Enid you look 10 years younger"

yay

Oati · 06/02/2007 11:01

I'm having a good day (had wine last night though - shock horror on a Monday)

youghurt and fresh pineapple for breakfast, will be having a light lunch before Pilates at 1.30pm.

Dinner will be grilled cajun chicken

winnie · 06/02/2007 12:55

Enid, I think that's called being smug

The headache from hell is finally going having drunk copious amounts of water this morning!

WWWCampbellBlack · 06/02/2007 20:03

Enid [wow] emoticon, did they really? And how much have you been doing it to get that result? Answers please!

Batters and Sobernow, oh HOW could Rupert do that? Gloss over rent boy period I mean, I too would be most diappointed.

Winne, I'm glad the headache is going, it IS a hangover without the alcohol, it's probably dehydration, which is what causes a hangover in the main. My advice to get round this is either a) drink enough or b) get pissed and at least have the alcohol to go with the hangover

Oati, wine on a MONDAY?!
