Castor oil is making my eyelashes grow like a mo'fo

I bought some castor oil to rub on my eyebrows in a bid to encourage them to grow a bit more. And it's working. But slowly.

A couple of weeks ago I started slapping a bit on my eyelashes too. Much quicker results. My eyelashes were always quite long but now they're almost Bambi like.

Good stuff.

Right, I'm buying some for my over-plucked, far too thin eyebrows. Thanks for the tip! Sorry for sounding thick but where do you buy it, and when do you apply it?

MitzyLeFrouf · 07/09/2016 12:57

I bought mine on ebay. Only cost a fiver or so.

I put in on before going to bed. Castor oil is very thick and gloopy so you wouldn't want to put it on first thing in the morning.

Wonderful, thank you!

AprilLoveJ · 07/09/2016 13:13

Oh yeah I love this stuff!

I use it on eyelashes and eyebrows. I also used it on my scalp to help my hair loss, it made it grow back quicker. I would sometimes apply (using a thoroughly washed out hair dye bottle with the small nozzle to get it directly to the roots/scalp) and wrap it in a turbie towel and sleep in it. It was pretty messy though! Took a lot of shampoo-ing out.

I even buy a clear mascara and squirt a bit into the tube and apply to my eyelashes on a morning to keep them conditioned under mascara. (Only works with a good waterproof mascara, otherwise smudgy mess.)

I love castor oil.

Ooh best thread of the week!

Tell me more.

I don't need it for my eyebrows but for eyelashes and hair!

Graceflorrick · 07/09/2016 18:03

Googling this now Grin

TalkingSheds · 07/09/2016 18:05

Link please to reputable place to buy from SmileFlowers

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 07/09/2016 18:07

I use Vaseline in the same way. Eyebrows and eyelashes every night. I look like an extra from Star Trek at bedtime with big evil surprise sticky eyebrows but it works.

MrsT2007 · 07/09/2016 18:27

Oil cleansing seems to help too!

NattyGolfJerkin · 07/09/2016 18:29

You can buy castor oil from any pharmacy. Cheap as chips.

Also sold on Amazon.

ElspethFlashman · 07/09/2016 18:33

Oooh placemarking. Except not sure if more eyelashes are a good thing, if they're blonde. Sad

This is the one I use but sounds like eBay one is just as effective!

Ineed Grin I see your Star Trek sticky evil brows and raise you evil-medusa-swamp-hair-creature lol

Took about a month before I noticed a difference, suddenly began getting lots of compliments on my 'mascara'!

I do eyelashes/brows every night, and I think I did the scalp mask about 3 x per week or when I could be arsed Used Head & Shoulders to wash it out (two washes) then conditioned ends as normal. I remember slathering it all over every inch of my hair and that was a mistake as it just became a greasy sloppy mess and would dry the ends out because I had to wash them so much! That's how I developed the hair dye bottle technique, just reaches the roots nicely.

Biotin and Msm made my hair grow fast, but it never encouraged it to grow for me, iyswim.

I discovered it when reading about the after effects of an mc. It's packed full of fatty acids, particularly ricinoleic acid. It does lots of awesome things when applied externally but can't remember off top of my head and can't be bothered to google Haven't come across any significant downsides to using externally.

I can't believe how much money I used to waste on magic eyelash growing mascaras that didn't even work! Shock

moonmeat · 07/09/2016 18:46

Shock Shock is this a well known fact?! I've never heard of it before but will be getting myself to a pharmacy asap Grin

Nutfreepeanutter · 07/09/2016 18:47

Jamican black castor oil, cold pressed is the best stuff it lasts ages too. Shea moisture make shampoo n conditioners with it, boots n super drug stock those. I love them and they hold up well on my mad coloured hair

ElspethFlashman · 07/09/2016 18:55

Don't suppose any other oil would work?

JonahAndTheSale · 07/09/2016 19:41

Baaaaaaaaa

Have just ordered some.

How do I use it?

sergeantmajor · 07/09/2016 19:53

marking place!

Ginkypig · 08/09/2016 01:06

Come back with instructions!

carrottopper · 08/09/2016 01:28

Just pure castor oil?

ICJump · 08/09/2016 02:12

If you use castor oil for hair regrowth do you put it on and then wash it off? Or does it sink in a bit?

TheDowagerCuntess · 08/09/2016 03:57

Jamaican cold pressed - would you get that at a health store?

CaroleService · 08/09/2016 06:29

Doesn't your eye make-up just slide off the next day though?

Anothernamechanger1 · 08/09/2016 06:34

Blatant place mark. I have another thread about hair loss from the crown that is getting worse. Please kindly could you give a bit more info in using it on your hair/scalp?!

skippy67 · 08/09/2016 08:47

You can get Jamaican castor oil from Amazon. It stinks though. Also from shops that stock hair products for afro Caribbean hair.
