Castor oil is making my eyelashes grow like a mo'fo

I bought some castor oil to rub on my eyebrows in a bid to encourage them to grow a bit more. And it's working. But slowly.

A couple of weeks ago I started slapping a bit on my eyelashes too. Much quicker results. My eyelashes were always quite long but now they're almost Bambi like.

Good stuff.

I wonder if that would be good to encourage post-chemo hair growth? Anyone tried it?

pollymere · 10/09/2016 15:44

April 7, to remove it, put shampoo in your hair first instead of getting it wet first, make sure you really cover your hair. It should then wash out easily.

I use it at bedtime and apply to my lashes with an old mascara brush. It's never gone into. my eyes and it doesn't seen to affect application of mascara the next day.

Warning ☆☆☆
Don't drink gin on your own before reading mums net update. I've just ordered caster oil and non stick oven sheets (after reading Lakeland thread). Both from Amazon though taking advantage of Prime delivery. I've not drunk that much. MN, you've turned me into one of those women who does drunk on line shopping....

Ordered from Amazon, along with disposable mascara wands.

Eyebrows are bushy enough but head hair could definitely do with thickening and longer eyelashes would be lovely!

This sounds great, but I just know that mc is not Mariah Carey ?? ;-)

jasmine1979 · 18/10/2016 15:26

Anyone have any updates on how this is working for them? Smile

I had amazing results with rapidbrow when I used it on my brows over the summer. Completely transformed my face. I have really good lashes naturally, but am trying to wear make-up a lot less at the moment, and would love my lashes to look even better without mascara. Castor oil is clearly way cheaper than all these serums so would love to know if it really works.

DailyMailPenisPieces · 18/10/2016 15:29

Ooh, will buy some later. My eyelashes used to be so long but shrunk over the years (ditto DH - he looked like Bambi when I met him - may smear a bit on his lashes tonight).

piddleypower · 18/10/2016 22:19

I tried this on eyelashes but woke up with eyes stuck together and all dry and gooey. Really horrible. Didn't think I used too much, but maybe I need to try with the mascara brush technique?

SuperFlyHigh · 19/10/2016 10:46

place marking.

skippy67 · 19/10/2016 11:09

I've been using it for about 3 weeks now. I apply it with a mascara brush so no sticky eyes in the morning. My lashes have grown so much! I had a little stubby section in the middle of my right eye and that's gone. Also putting it on my eyebrows. Recommended.

I've just started applying castor oil to my lashes and brows in the evening. Both need fattening up.

Anyone got any updates on how this worked for them?

CakeForBreakfast · 03/03/2017 10:10

Do you think coconut oil would work as well as castor oil?

farkoff · 04/03/2017 08:21

I'm not sure, but you would definitely have nice smelling eyelashes Grin

IJustLostTheGame · 04/03/2017 08:36

If you're putting on your head this is the way I use it:

  • 2 tablespoons of castor oil
  • 2 table spoons of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • a dew drops of rosemary oil (castor oil stinks)

I put it in a hair dye bottle and put that in a bowl of hot water. After its all melted together I apply it to the roots and leave for 20 minutes. I put the bottle in the fridge for next time.
I washing out using head and shoulders without wetting it. Rinse and repeat and then condition.
I haven't noticed my hair growing fast but it is now very shiny and easy to manage.
It was a wild brillo pad of witch hair before.

Fintress · 11/03/2017 09:03

I've just started using castor oil mixed with argan oil on my hair. I mix them in a small plastic container then sit it in a bowl of very hot water for a bit. Then damp my hair at the roots and massage it in for a few minutes, pop on a shower cap and wrap in a hot towel and leave for at least an hour. Sometimes blast the shower cap with the hairdryer before wrapping it up. It's thick and gloopy and takes a bit of doing, I might try the spray bottle.

As I said, just started but already notice I have less hair falling out in the shower plus it makes your hair really shiny. I have very fine flyaway hair and was worried it would make it greasy but it doesn't. Going to keep on with it.

theclick · 12/03/2017 09:59

Do you use it on the roots or just the ends of the lashes? I have some plain plastic lash combs but don't know where to start

justme777 · 06/09/2017 08:59

I use castor oil both for my lashes and eyebrows, but only when I'm relaxed at home. When I have to run somewhere or travel, I take Cherish Lash serum with me - it is of great help. My eyelashes always look spectacular. :)

justme777 · 19/01/2018 19:07

Love the topic :) I used castor oil quite successfully in my teen years. Now I guess I am done with the oils which are so sticky and cloudy for one's vision. Also the scent, can you really stand it?.. In this meaning coconut oil is more pleasant. And anyway I'm using Cherish Lash serum for 6 months now, it doubled my eyelashes length!.. :) It's much more convenient and... let's say adult or modern. ))
