One of them there "sort my life out" threads

I'm looking for one of the threads for general S&B self-improvement threads, a bit like the princess ones there used to be.

For the record I'm planning to cut out alcohol completely for a while. I have a social thing tomorrow where I'll probably have a glass of wine or two but after that will cut out. Also doing as much yoga as I can to tone up a bit (finding inner leave along the way would be lovely too).

Does anyone know if there are any threads like this running atm?

I'd like to join too. I felt bloated after the holidays. My weight had crept up and my clothes felt uncomfortably tight.

DH is training for a half-marathon and my goal is a walking half-marathon. I've had a good start but I'd like to lose a total of 4kg.

I'm also thinking about a proper walking holiday. Aiming to walk as close to 10000 steps daily as can and longer walks on weekends. Plus lighter, healthier food choices and drinking only 2-3 glasses of wine per week.

Evening all,
I've eaten pretty well today, eggs and avocado for breakfast, cheese and coleslaw sandwich with yogurt (more a using up leftovers lunch than healthy),veggie lasagne and rocket for dinner. I did have a packet (light) of crisps and a couple of bits of dark chocolate. And about 3/4 of a litre of water which is good for me.
Didn't get to the gym, but did sort out loads of house stuff.
Tomorrow I think I'm going to try and do some decorating, so not much glam.

Oh and I ordered a couple of jumpers from uniqlo.

Hi Ladies

Did a bit of pilates but now sat on the sofa with chocolate. It is my holiday after all Wink

Oh - I did just order some running trainers which should be with me next week...not all bad.

Also sorting a Tesco shop that I can have delivered for our arrival home full of healthy things so I can have salad or jackets for lunch to cut out bread.

Oh sounds like you've had a good day karcheer!

I've been ok. Had a bit of a walk and played in the park with DD this morning. I actually made myself do some yoga during her nap as well and I really enjoyed it. I definitely feel a little bit stronger in some of the poses. I have been good about drinking water, (I have a sore throat for some reason, so have kind of needed it), and (also due to sore throat), I am not even remotely interested in a Wine this evening. Diet has been less wonderful admittedly, but not dreadful either.

Ah fair enough conscious. Holidays have a completely different set of rules!

Hello life sorters!

Fairly good day today.

Breakfast: muesli, 0% Greek yoghurt and blueberries
Lunch: small slice of Spanish tortilla, small slice of manchego cheese, a few olives and lots of salad
Dinner: baked rice with chicken and chorizo - small portion with lots of salad

Met a friend for coffee and had a peppermint tea instead of a latte.

Have just ironed my dress and polished my shoes ready for work tomorrow. Am about to try some leg bb cream to even out my post camping bruises and make my legs presentable in the dress!

Picked up my new glasses today. I splashed out on some funky designer ones and I love them. If I have to wear them I may as well wear cool ones!

Have portioned out some of tonight's dinner to take to work with me for lunch, avoiding any suggestions of takeaways from my colleagues! I was thinking of going for a swim before work but I'm full of cold and have earache so I don't think it would be a good idea. Maybe later in the week.

Leg BB cream worked well for hiding varicose veins and giving me a tan but unfortunately hasn't hidden the bruises. Never mind, at least I'm brown and bruised rather than lily white and bruised!

Have also painted my nails - orange toes and nude pink on hands (both no7 gel polish).

DD and I are doing some of the shake ups from Change4Life, we still have the 10 min timer from last year. Fun sometimes and a minute bit of cardio and toning, depending on which one you pick!

Is the change 4 life stuff any good? I remember seeing it when my DC were small and thinking it was really patronising! If it has improved I'll take a look.

Today I am wearing: Navy wrap dress (Boden), navy cardigan (Next), navy leather pumps (Clarks), tan tote bag (Accessorize). Full face of make up but fairly natural looking. Small pearl earrings and a silver chain with a small pendant. Feeling quite "put together".

Might not feel that way after a few hours back in work!

Morning Smile
Pretty pleased with the start I've made so far. Managed a pretty healthy day food wise yesterday. Didn't get chance for my run in the end but will definitely do today. Just having my lemon and hot water and then I'll do some yoga before I get dressed (bit of a lazy morning today!). Eggs and bacon for breakfast I think. I'm considering some fake tan to give me a healthy glow but I'm scared of looking ridiculous/streaky might go for a gradual one instead. I've also booked to have my hair done on wed am and am planning to go a lot blonder...eek!

Wow those all sound like great days!

I like the "today I'm wearing" aspect of this too! I had a shower and then put my jogging gear straight on before I changed my mind. Just chasing toddler around the living room trying to get her nappy on so we can go out for a jog round town and to the shops. I need stuff anyway so am killing two birds with one stone. We have visitors coming for dinner so am trying to plan something healthy. Maybe steak and salad. I've just had a berry, almond milk and coconut oil smoothie for breakfast. It was really filling, so hopefully can survive on that plus a piece of fruit or some raw veg sticks till lunch.

I've ordered some matcha tea as well to go in smoothies. I've never had it before, but a friend of mine swears by it. Has anyone tried it before?

I've been out for C25K before we get going today. Was lovely next to the park one side and river on the other side.

Have a good one all.

Just thought I'd throw this one into the ring.....has anyone heard of / started The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod? It's basically getting up one hour (yikes) earlier each day to do things like exercise, meditation and affirmations. It's supposed to be life changing and really motivating. I keep thinking about doing it but waking at 5.30 just isn't looking too attractive ; )
Also loving the "what I'm wearing" comments. I love this positive thread and keep checking back in - thanks again OP.

Oh that sounds really interesting oh2! Like you though, the thought of getting up at 5 - 5:30 sounds a bit horrible. Could be worth it though.

I've just got back from my jog / shopping trip. A nice lady said "I wish I could run like that" to me while we were on our way home which has completely made my day. I am not a good runner btw, I just think she was being encouraging, but was lovely Smile.

I love this thread too so thanks all for posting on it! Flowers

oh2 yes I've heard of it, I'm not sure I could get up to meditate, it's just not me. But I'd love to be up and more organised.
I've such a headache today, didn't sleep well.
I did pop the the supermarket to get berries and yogurt for breakfast and have snacked on almonds whilst doing an online job application, which was soooo hard :/

Today I'm wearing brown and cream stripey t shirt, taupe/cream trousers and a coral cardi.

I really need to do some decorating but can't be bothered. Might have a coffee in the garden first.

I'm feeling very tired today, think it might be the lack of caffeine/sugar.

Report
CotswoldStrife · 09/08/2016 14:15

If you are not keen on waking up early (which does work, and I miss it now I don't do it) then have a look at Crystal Paine who does a makeover your mornings course (wait until it's on offer).

The change4life is a bit variable. Each summer they do these 10 minute shake-ups to get children moving which are good (chart to tick off, different activities) but the eat less sugar one was awful - just told you to use sweeteners instead!

Report
ConciousUncoupling · 09/08/2016 15:27

I'm currently up at 5:30 - yes even on holiday (Thanks DS) so I don't think that would work for me Oh2 I do try and do some pilates once things go quiet in the evening.

Well done to everyone who's done something good.

I've got a bargain jumper from the Gap Outlet this morning - it just needs a nice statement necklace or a crisp white shirt to go with it.

Report
ConciousUncoupling · 09/08/2016 15:32

Cotswold I agree about the swaps - I'd rather my child has sugar and I know about it (and me) than fill up on sweeteners.

Report
CotswoldStrife · 09/08/2016 16:29

The sugar swap thing drew a lot of complaints - I think we were expecting something more creative than sweeteners! I just ignored it completely!

Had another pretty good day yesterday; had healthy breakfast and lunch but unfortunately forgot to get salmon out of the freezer so ended up with a cheese and bacon pasta bake for dinner. I did go for another run though and did yoga in the morning. Got hair cut and colour this morning Smile

Oooo can I join too. Needing to do fitness, tidy up appearance (generally in my pjs at 7pm) eat better, do stuff with hair and get out and make some friends. Sleep too. Basically some get up and go haha

Hi wheely! Yes, please join us.

I had a good day yesterday, though diet went a bit downhill after the healthy smoothie for breakfast... I did go for a jog in the morning, a walk in the afternoon and also did about half an hour of my yoga dvd before bed. Was lovely. I definitely think the lack of Wine is making me a lot more motivated re exercise. I have just had my breakfast smoothie (with matcha tea powder, apple, berries, almond milk, coconut oil, vanilla paste, cinnamon and honey this time), had my shower and might get into jogging clothes again so I don't have any excuse not to go!

After jog, I will be wearing a denim pinafore and yellow tshirt and green Vans or a black tshirt dress with black tights and boots (depending on how chilly it is outside).
