Rose I like the dress except for it being sleeveless. I would not subject the world to my upper arms for love nor money. I have a few linen similar numbers, which I live in on holiday, both bought in France. I always forget about Next. For some reason I associate it with the 80s. Not sure why. Any way a linen dress is supposed to look crumpled a bit think Addle. Hope so anyway.SmileHmm
I have gone back to bed, really because facing What NeedsTo Be Done is too overwhelming altogether. Dh is boiling me some rice, bless.

Cremolafoam · 25/07/2016 19:59

Oh btw, thanks Hatty. Shall make do with space saving brolly.Smile

How you feeling BD ? Thinking about you.

Rosebag · 25/07/2016 20:10

Surprisingly uncrumpled for linen...one of the attractions. I don't much like my upper arms either, but I hate being hot more.... Grin

Also, Crepeys, do I have permission to hit DP with a blunt instrument? He is tired. I get that. But he is doing his passive- aggressive thing where he is looking for reasons to be marytyred. And if I mention the thumping headache that no amount of medication has subdued today this is clearly Me Not Noticing How He Is - or rather it plays into his favourite "ah, you see, I can't be vulnerable, the minute I say anything of the kind you insist you're worse so obviously I can't be ill, oh no don't worry about me I'll just carry on..."

He is also pissed off because I read in bed with that light on. I ask him every bloody time if he minds and he says no. I can read downstairs. But what he really wants is for me to go to bed at 10.30 when he does and I don't want to even if it would be good for me, dammit.
He's tried the "when you come to bed it wakes me up" but I said cheerily I could sleep downstairs if it really bothered him, which shut him up for a good while.

BD, so, so glad to hear your boss is being understanding. I send you much love and hope that the memorial will not be too arduous in the planning and that it will all go smoothly.
Crem, I'm wishing you better, you poor thing.
My back is just awful. I went to A&E at 6am this morning and stood and cried for 3 hours. They gave me morphine. Then I cried at my GP, who gave me diazepam. Then I gibbered at my local pharmacist and had an almighty panic attack. Am still in horrible pain with no relief in sight. It is getting worse and worse. GP referred me to the Msk clinic, but they currently have no appointments. That is none, zero, 0. This afternoon, gp has said he will fax them and try to get some sensible response. What with all the bloody drugs they have prescribed and the fact that the pain level is still shriek-worthy, I'm not feeling awfully splendid.
Sorry for not following everything awfully well. And only being here intermittently. Am really struggling, tbh.

Rosebag · 25/07/2016 21:02

Oh stropps Sad

motherinferior · 25/07/2016 21:06

Stropps, I am so sorry.

Oh Stropps you poor thing, that sounds awful.Sad

Collymollypuff · 25/07/2016 21:28

Christ, Stropps, that sounds awful. Sad Gotta get help with that.

MI, things will get much better. Just hang on in there. Thanks

bigTillyMint · 25/07/2016 21:46

Oh God Stropps, you poor, poor thing Sad Am crossing everything that the medical professionals sort something out for you asap. It sounds totally vile. FlowersChocolateWine

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/07/2016 21:47

So Thursday pm for a mini meet up in my neck of the woods? Me, Rose, Mrs S, Herbs, possibly mini Herb.
Did you have anywhere in mind Rose? Anyone else wanting to go somewhere particular?
Otherwise I'd suggest the divine Ottolenghi - shouldn't be too busy as whole of my manor seems to have gone on holiday as well as we'll be there quite late. If it's packed we can easily find somewhere else nearish.
I can be there any time after 2ish. What suits the rest of you? late lunch or afternoon tea a bit later?
Exciting!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/07/2016 21:48

Oh Stropps, just read your posts. You poor poor thing. What do they think is wrong? What do the suggest apart from painkillers??

Lalsy · 25/07/2016 22:01

Jeez, Stropps. You are made of steel, woman, pain that bad would finish a lesser mortal. Is there anything at all any of us can do?

MI, is there any way you can get away on your own for a bit, even just a couple of days? Perhaps here www.gladstoneslibrary.org/?

CointreauVersial · 25/07/2016 22:21

Enjoy the mini-MU. Thursday, I shall be at AuntyS's funeral. Sad It's up in the Midlands, and I'm feeling a bit guilty going alone, but I can't really bring DCs, as DN will be here, and DH is all out of days off for the foreseeable future. It will be interesting seeing cousins again, particularly the two closest to me in age who I haven't seen since for years. I am going to miss UncleP's send-off unless I perfect time-travel; it's on the same day, in Norfolk.

Strops - how utterly miserable. Fingers crossed you get some relief soon.

Well, we bit the bullet re: Saturday in central London; there's no other day we can go. We'll just do a bit more walking and a bit less bussing.

Cremolafoam · 25/07/2016 22:38

Stropps, oh shit on a stick, that's appalling that they can't do anything for that level of pain. Has anybody suggested traction?
I feel so sorry for you. There is nothing worse than feeling so dreadful and not one sod able to help you.
No wonder you were in tears. Not sure what appointment was not available, but was it the pain clinic Stropps? If nothing drug wise is helping surely it is a medical emergency. Wish there was something we could do.Sad

Rosebag · 25/07/2016 23:39

GGG ottolenghi sounds wonderful. I've been wanting to try it for ages! Suggest late lunch 2pm Thursday?

stropps you really sound like you need to be admitted and on a morphine pump. Hugs xxx

MontserratCaballe · 26/07/2016 05:15

Very envious of mini meet up on Thursday. Alas I am in child watch so can't join you. I love ottolenghi too.

Stropps, your back situation sounds wretched. Poor, poor you. Can you not get admitted if all the drugs are not working? Thinking of you Flowers

How are you doing, BD? And Crem, how is your kidney infection? On the mend I hope. Take it easy.

Sorry about the funerals, CV.

Been awake since 3.45. So far have bought 2 groupons and a candle on eBay. Today we have piano lessons, making notice boards for the kids' rooms and a visit from Steve the Spin Dr to sort out my washing machine. Rock and roll.

Cremolafoam · 26/07/2016 08:40

Love the Spin Doctor as a name for a washing machine fixer. Kind of genius. We have a hairdresser called Curl Up and Dye which always tickles me.
Sorry you aren't sleeping Monty. But it sounds like you've been productive Hmm anyway. Love a Groupon.

Still not quite right , kidney-wise. I'm going to phone gp and see if ds he will change the antibiotic as the Co-amoxiclav should have hit it with a hammer by now, and hasn't really. Boo.

Any news Stropps.

Blackduck · 26/07/2016 08:41

Oh god Stropps so sorry to hear about the back. Hope something gets sorted soon.

MI - big {{ }} - sorry about everything :(

cremo sending you get well vibes.

I just feel plain weird. It all seems very unreal. Ddad and Dbro sorted cremation yesterday (no one will be there) and we will sort memorial at the weekend. It's such a welter of emotions, disconnected, unreal, very little tolerance for people being 'difficult'.......

Have a good MU - sorry to miss it.

bigTillyMint · 26/07/2016 08:41

Aha, Steve the Spin Dr is very good!

I woke at after 2 to hear DD come in very quietly. And then honk in the loo not so quietly. Ah well, she did turn 17 today!

I have an old friend coming over today - she lives abroad and I only see her once a year Smile

magimedi · 26/07/2016 09:10

Flowers BD

And to everyone else who is having a tought time, illness, parents, creative genius............

At Battle, not too far from us, there is a ready mix concrete firm called:
"William the Concreter" - which always makes me smile.

Cremolafoam · 26/07/2016 09:16

Aw happy Birthday BTM's dd. CakeWineConfused

herbaceous · 26/07/2016 10:02

Ottolenghi at 2? It's a date. DP is out and about, so I will have DS with me. I may buy his favour by doing a quick transport tour before we meet.

DP's mum is not in a good way. Throwing up, gone a funny colour. DP fears it's the Beginning of the End, but hope she lasts until after our holiday (next week). I'm hoping it's merely a bug...

herbaceous · 26/07/2016 10:34

Eeeek! I've got two massive bruises on my arse from yesterday's hardcore massage. I'm hoping that means it's done me good!

bigTillyMint · 26/07/2016 10:40

Bruises, Herbs? That doesn't sound quite rightConfused

Thanks Cremo! The birthday girl has yet to emerge from her room!
