Help!

My brother is getting married in a month, the dress code is as stated, and I have no idea where to start.

I have broad shoulders, large boobs that require a full cup bra, a fat belly thick waist, and no hips or arse. I'm flabbier than I'd like. I'm maybe a 16 to 18 on top, 12-14 bottom.

My current "style" is unfashionable jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie with trainers, every day and in every situation.

I don't wear makeup, ever, have no idea how to wear it or put it on, and don't really want to change that. Short hair. Can't show my arms, don't want to show my legs. Don't like skirts or dresses and would spend the whole time self-conscious if I wore these.

And it has to be something I can take with me on a plane.

I have no ideas. Do I need a hat? Do I need to learn to walk in high heels, in a month? Trousers and jacket, or something else? :(

I'm flailing here and would be really grateful for help/opinions/tellings-off.

jacket

I think I must have gone over £250. The shoes were about £40, earrings £15, think the necklace was about £20

Thanks AYD I felt really comfortable in it, she was lovely. When I arrived she had some things ready that would have suited a wedding in the UK, but not Sain where they dress more like evening dresses.

She listened to me, then went and collected other things that were more suitable. I had my mother in law with me (she dresses really well, not my style, but I knew she would know what was suitable) the personal shopper left me to try stuff on, then when I had chosen the dress, she came back with the jacket, it is really filmy, so not hot, but covering my shoulders, which I felt was necessary for church (my mother still doesn't believe in sleeveless tops for work or church!)

She wasn't intrusive, and mixed brands in a way I wouldn't have been confident to do.

There was no charge for the service, and she didn't put pressure on me, to buy shoes etc.

Thanks to everyone for all your ideas - I'm going off the thread now to eat my dinner Grin Perhaps it's not a hopeless cause after all…

I know it is something I can wear again (have a girls day out in 2 weeks for a cousin's 40th, hoping to wear it then, depending on what she wants people to wear. If I get bored with it as a dressy dress, I could get it shortened to mid calf and wear it to work.

Gruach · 10/07/2016 19:33

Look! Look!Look!

Perfect wedding guest dress. Good value. Your size. Wearable forever.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 19:35

Ooh, that looks nice. Is it summery, do you think?

But choose brighter accessories for this event. The US 12 will be a 16, the US 14 a UK 18.

Don't wait to think!

Gruach · 10/07/2016 19:40

Yes! It's summery. And chic. And grown up without being dull or staid. Silk. Long, sleeved, suitable for day and night. Click now before someone else does!

AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 19:43

I'm not an impulse shopper - I can't! Grin I'll keep it in mind though - even if it sells out I can get something similar, right?

OP posts:
Gruach · 10/07/2016 19:47

Well it's in the sale and on MN. Experience suggests ...

And something "similar" might not be pure silk or expertly cut or, or, or ...

Blimmin' 'eck!

AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 19:49

It's free returns…

You think it's not too short and too dependent on having nice hips?

OP posts:
Gruach · 10/07/2016 19:55

It's half price. And lovely. Just try it. Send it back if it's no good.

(I'm only being pushy because you began with such a tale of "I hate my reflection and refuse to buy anything nice". You need to buy something nice!)

Eanair · 10/07/2016 19:55

The model is 5'9", so unlikely to be too short on you, and I wouldn't worry about your hips either.

Lolimax · 10/07/2016 19:55

How about a tea dress? I got one in the Phase 8 sale yesterday. Very summery.

Gruach · 10/07/2016 19:57

Lord! And the pleating on the hips will balance your illusory broad shoulders. And you won't need any fussy wrap or shrug or what have you.

BeMorePanda · 10/07/2016 19:58

Popping in to say OP I think you have a fantastic figure!

And also I like Finery but think it is for people with tiny boobs.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 20:07

You are a bit pushy Grin but I forgive you. I've ordered it to try… I've a feeling this "dress" thing may take a long time and end in tears.

I'm not that down on myself, am I? I just wanted to give a fair appraisal of what we were dealing with. I'm a person who only bought new trousers when I was having to fold the waistband over by four inches because I didn't want to buy too many clothes in inbetween sizes when I was losing weight. And I only had one pair of shoes for about a decade (I have more now). I hate clothes shopping.

The last one Lolimax posted is lovely

OP have you posted photos of yourself before? That pic Looks really familiar!

AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 20:12

I'm also easily led…

That one looks lovely Loli. I wonder if I should be trying more than one…

Thank you Panda Blush I don't really like my figure much.

Are phase eight a little small? I go past their shop sometimes but I don't dare go in as it scares me.

OP posts:
AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 20:14

I have posted that specific one before, I think. I don't have many full-length photos of me as I generally refuse - that was my birthday and my family insisted.

OP posts:
AYD2MITalkTalk · 10/07/2016 20:17

Loli's is out of stock in my size but I'll keep the link because it looks like it might be close to something I would wear.
