"Summery and elegant" for a wedding.

Help!

My brother is getting married in a month, the dress code is as stated, and I have no idea where to start.

I have broad shoulders, large boobs that require a full cup bra, a fat belly thick waist, and no hips or arse. I'm flabbier than I'd like. I'm maybe a 16 to 18 on top, 12-14 bottom.

My current "style" is unfashionable jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie with trainers, every day and in every situation.

I don't wear makeup, ever, have no idea how to wear it or put it on, and don't really want to change that. Short hair. Can't show my arms, don't want to show my legs. Don't like skirts or dresses and would spend the whole time self-conscious if I wore these.

And it has to be something I can take with me on a plane.

I have no ideas. Do I need a hat? Do I need to learn to walk in high heels, in a month? Trousers and jacket, or something else? :(

I'm flailing here and would be really grateful for help/opinions/tellings-off.

Okay, side by side.

So frazzled I didn't even notice my face is actually in that one!

The third pic at 16.44 today is imo the best, the one with the black belt.
Don't like the tops / trousers combo, make you look so much bigger and frumpier and also don't like the one posted at 15.39. Does nothing for you and it's too short.
But if it's still an option my favourite was the fitted one, with the straight skirt - very classy!

LaCerbiatta · 19/07/2016 18:13

Definitely the fitted one, the black and white is so wide, makes you look bigger. The fitted one shows off the best part of your legs - the shapely calves :)

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 18:21

Which do you mean by the fitted one - the one with the narrow skirt and the two black lines going down?

(the one with the sheepy socks Grin)

It's lovely to see that you've ventured into some shops.

(I wouldn't dream of asking why you went on the hottest day of the year ...)

You could always try something without a big, splashy flower print. Just for comparison?

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 18:35

Re: hottest day of the year - I made a personal shopper appointment and had no idea it was going to be this hot! But yeah, cooler days would be wiser Grin

Massive flowers seem to be in at the moment…

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 18:39

Where else would be good to try when I've recovered for a bit?

OP posts:
AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 18:40

Have just noticed, every single thing has had enormous flowers on it! I didn't even intend that - the phase eight one was the first thing I picked up in the shop, the others are just what the Debenhams woman picked out for me.

OP posts:
AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 18:43

I don't even like flowery clothes, they remind me of my granny's frocks!

OP posts:
Gruach · 19/07/2016 18:58

Dang!

I typed out a long, gently unenthusiastic post about the flowers - then realised you were taking advice - and deleted it.

I'm sure you could find some other expressions of summery and elegant.

Have you by any chance glimpsed the cover of the August Harper's Bazaar? Or any Dolce & Gabbana advert over the past year?

Or perhaps take a look at some plainer pieces?

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 19:02

"gently unenthusiastic" - I love it 😂

I'm not sure the budget runs to Harper's bazaar or D&G, but I'll have a look…

No indeed. Wasn't suggesting purchase, of magazine or outfit - but cast an eye. Rest. Look again ...

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 19:06

Phew Grin

OP posts:
Gruach · 19/07/2016 19:23

This would probably be a fairly generous 16.

Bit more sleek, contemporary ...

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 19:25

Wow, I think her waist might be a bit photoshopped Grin That's lovely. Thanks for the link!

I need to think about things that aren't clothes for a bit, I think.

You have great calves. I like the black and white one on left at 16:00 ( no socks does helpWink). The one on right also looks good but how about shortening it so that it ends at flattering length?

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 19:58

I hate my calves! I always think they look fat 😂 My perception must be distorted.

OP posts:
Gruach · 19/07/2016 20:08

Oh yes! Forgot to say - no-one on this thread can discern any fault whatsoever with any of your limbs ... A few of them are, in fact, enviably presentable.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 20:14

Thank you… limbs are hard.

SpringSpringSpring · 19/07/2016 20:32

I thought the black and white at 15.39 really suited your shape - and the black floaty top too though I see you weren't keen.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 19/07/2016 21:05

Right. Off for a serious Think. Thanks everyone :)

OP posts:
Gruach · 19/07/2016 21:09

In the photos I felt the tops (though quite striking) and trousers rather engulfed you ...

So the dresses were better. But:

A) You need a low, V neckline and some sticky-out structure to the skirt. And

B) I'm not sure your personal shopper was concentrating hard enough on luxury (or the appearance of luxury). Your budget is plenty big enough to find something vaguely stunning - particularly in the sales.

minipie · 19/07/2016 21:25

I agree about the v neck (or how about a cowl neck?)

Not sure about the skirt. I actually think the straight pencil skirts look better on you than the sticky outy A line ones. Maybe a longer sticky out skirt would be better (midi length rather than knee length).
