Do NOT slag off sassy in her absence.

NOT her fault johnny borrowed her name for some bootleg breeches.

Agree btw, nice clothes but much too ££ and short in the tops.

hatwoman · 23/01/2007 13:44

excuse me did someone say "White Company" and "not pretentious" in the same sentence? gu bluddy faw.

elliepupp · 23/01/2007 13:44

Can I ask all the 'fashionatas' has anyone tried the miracle dresses from Marks? I have a do on Saturday and need to disguise one or two (actually it's more like three) Christmas pudds!

lucykate · 23/01/2007 13:45

md, don't tell me the dress is worth £79, i need talking out of buying it, not into buying it

JackieNo · 23/01/2007 13:46

'White Stuff', hatwoman, not 'White Company'.

elliepupp · 23/01/2007 13:52

Yup, dress is 79 squids. I'm assuming that every pound you pay is equal to the amount you look as though you've lost in weight?

hatwoman · 23/01/2007 16:29

not able to distinguish White Stuff and White Company. I have truly entered middle age . I'll be lamenting the lack of practical slippers in M&S next. all this per eunuch stuff all too new fangled for me.

JackieNo · 23/01/2007 17:52

lol at 'per eunuch'.

SilentTerror · 23/01/2007 19:22

Agree Boden not high fashion up to date stuff, alot of it is frumpy but there are some gems in amongst the middle aged stuff.Usually have one or two nice summer skirts, maybe one top,a dress(but frumpy length so need to shorten it )and quite like the linen knit cardigans.Have lived in my slouchy velvet trousers from last year and this.Don't compare Boden with Topshop, different market entirely, but am wearing Topshop dress over Topshop jeans with one of Johnnie's little tie front cardigans on top!!

littlemissbossy · 23/01/2007 19:26

"he has made motherhood sexy"
ROFL
what a load of bollocks

pointydog · 23/01/2007 19:34

"Johnnie Boden, ponce among ponces and purveyor of overpriced schmutter to the middle classes."

MrsB, I salute you! You have style.

NorksBride · 23/01/2007 19:56

Boden is officially over. My SIL has started wearing it

I still like a lot of the childrens clothing though - I have fairly skinny children and some of their boys trousers actually stay up.

Lauriefairycake · 23/01/2007 20:06

My issue with the article is not just with Mr Smug-o-Smugaroo but with the utter bitch who interviewed for the article

"..not for the woman who's LET HERSELF GO though the clothes go up to a size 20"

Sitting here wearing a friggin Boden cardi (size 20) cos I have 38G titties.

Rant rant rant rant

I HAVE NOT LET MYSELF GO YOU JOURNALISTIC SUCK-UP IN THE HOPE OF FREE CLOTHES I AM BREAST FEEDING !!!!!!!!

merlotmama · 23/01/2007 22:16

I have 3 grumbles with Boden:

1)There are far too many catalogues. They seem to arrive faster and faster. Surely one per season would be enough...and save a few forests.

  1. Why are all the models like skeletons with skin on? Eg Laurence who was popular a while back...perfectly pleasant looking girl, but surely not well. How is a size 14 to tell if something is going to make her look fat if it's on a size 8? There must be more returns than need be, because of this.

  2. Why are all his colours suitable only for English roses or redheads? I look like a washed-out dishcloth in pastels/fawn/orange/lime green or anything called 'dusty' anything.

Stripey linen trousers coming up for 3rd/4th? summer, tho', and still going strong.

NorksBride · 23/01/2007 22:26

Merlot - I recently had an email from Boden asking if I would prefer just one catalogue per season. Unfortunately my DH didn't get the same email so he still gets one a week.

Sherbert37 · 25/01/2007 10:22

Carrie and co - it really would be great to get Johnnie on here for some 'market research'.

WideWebWitch · 25/01/2007 20:59

Oh yes, DO get Johnnie on here.

White Co rubbish imo, everything's white except, er, the stuff that isn't. Bought a dressing gown from there a few years back and it was terrible quality, fell apart in no time, compared to John Lewis one bought at same time for dh, which is still looking good.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/01/2007 22:00

DD1 had two pairs of White Co pyjamas. They lasted all of 5 minutes. Primark much better.

Yes, why are Boden tops so short? I thought it was my F cups hoicking the material up, but friend with tiny tits has same problem.

pesme · 25/01/2007 22:08

does anyone else find this in Amethyst shockingly frumperama. i mean we are talking m&s old lady section c. 1982.

swifterella · 25/01/2007 22:25

blah to boden, my mother lives just off the northcote rd and i swear to god everybody is wearing boden or freakin fat face and pushing a bugaboo. its so bloody boring

CountessDracula · 25/01/2007 22:26

their clothes are for frumps

Kids clothes nice but

jennifersofia · 25/01/2007 22:37

btw, you can email and ask them to send you only one catalogue a season. I did because I couldn't handle the environmental guilt and they wrote back within two days and said they would, and they have!

Well, I don't care how horrid he is - I still want that crocodile T-shirt out of the new catalogue for ds2.

JustineMumsnet · 26/01/2007 13:25

Ok, Ok, we'll ask him on and report back.
