Forget about tree rings, use eyebrows

Because, eyebrows can be used to 'date' you.

Obviously not like, 'date' date Grin

I'm currently growing my eyebrows out after a couple of disastrous threading sessions in Superdrug and now have a very nice lady keeping them tidy and offering me advice.

When we were chatting, she mentioned that the only people who wanted really thin/shaped eyebrows were middle aged women who were stuck in a rut, because 'no one' wants their brows like that, these days.

I've been looking at my friends eyebrows (which sounds weird, I know!!) and as we're all about the same age, all of us except me and my friend who's a Beauty Therapist have very, very thin brows.

I guess then, that she's right. It's made me think about all sorts of things I do/use out of habit.

I feel like a work in progress atm. I'm growing out my over highlighted hair and reckon I have about 9/10 m to go on that. My hair is cut into a long bob until they're gone.

My eyebrows haven't been this thick since my teens.

I am trying very hard to avoid ruts, but I know they're out there.

I don't want to look young/younger. I'm in my early 40s and happy with that. But does anyone have any advice on what I can do to avoid getting stuck in a rut and what sort of things I should be keeping an eye on?

I have a little comb and can use a brow palette and pencil on them, but they look fine without make up. I also have Russian lashes on with them.

MadSprocker · 05/07/2016 19:19

I would go for slim leg, rather than skinny not listening to my own advice jeans.

I was a 90's teen, so plucked my brows too much, but I look ridiculous with thick brows.

I think make up application can date you, especially blue eyeshadow.

PuppyMonkey · 05/07/2016 19:37

God I'd much sooner look middle aged than have those horrendous angry bird HD brows young women sport these days. Grin

Patheticfallacy · 05/07/2016 19:52

Ahem! I don't think mine look like thatGrin

redhat · 05/07/2016 20:01

They don't pathetic

NicknameUsed · 05/07/2016 21:43

I'm not a fan of HD brows. They are too Elizabeth Taylor for me.

imjessie · 05/07/2016 22:15

I have thick blonde eyebrows that I literally never touch . I think they contribute to me always being told I look much younger than I am . Eyebrows that look wrong are so ageing !!! Also I would have balayage to help make your highlights growing out more of a style .

Sallystyle · 05/07/2016 22:17

I have thin eyebrows because half of them fell out when my thyroid was bad and they never grew back. When I get them threaded they always end up too thin because it's the only way they can make them look half decent.

Big gaping holes mean half of them have to be taken off. I will get them tattooed one day.

CruCru · 05/07/2016 23:07

Hmm, interesting thread. My eyebrows have got shaggier over the years - and now have quite a lot of white in. So far I've been able to pretend it's blonde hairs (my hair is dark blonde / light brown) but won't be able to forever.

I'll need to do something before my eyebrows look like Michael Heseltine's. Any recommendations?

WellDoYaPunks · 05/07/2016 23:14

Can anyone point me towards an aforementioned delicate gold chain? Maybe two lengths worn together?

JanTheJam · 06/07/2016 00:38

Www.notonthehighstreet.com is good for delicate gold chains.

PuppyMonkey · 06/07/2016 07:54

Pathetic, imho yours look far too dark - they are a lovely shape though. Smile

notagiraffe · 06/07/2016 07:59

OP, you got unlucky with your Superdrug threader. Mine tidied up my over-natural brows but didn't thin them out and they look so much better.

Bit Blush about shimmery eyeshadow on older faces. Guilty of that. But when I use matt I look knackered and grey. What other options are there?

jodens · 06/07/2016 10:09

I've seen far more younger people recently (teens, twenties) ditch the HD brows opting for thinner eyebrows instead, so I thought the HD trend was on the wane. Though weirdly more middle aged people now seem to have taken up the trend I've noticed.

ihatethecold · 06/07/2016 20:29

I always wear glittery or shimmering eye shadow.
It suits me and I get compliments on the colour. (Not blue)
I'm 42 and will carry on using it

Patheticfallacy · 06/07/2016 20:57

They are dark, but I'm half Egyptian with almost black hair and dark skin! I'd look more daft with light brows

BeenThereTooSEL · 06/07/2016 22:43

CruCru try Brow mascara. It'll cover up the greys without adding any additional shape etc

3perfectweemen · 08/07/2016 10:02

Hey here is my podcast mascara mac at it's full effect :)

Whoever posted the tip to tighten your bra straps to their shortest, and so hoiking your boobs up - THANK YOU! Flowers I did it this morning and my DP asked "which bra are you wearing?" He obviously noticed the difference Grin

3perfectweemen · 08/07/2016 11:44

Lol fluffy it is great but by end day you will be so uncomfortable

hollyisalovelyname · 08/07/2016 18:15

Welldo
Try Posh Totty jewellery. Gold plated but lots of different lenghts. Rose gold and yellow gold. Also sterling silver. Very handy as you can change pendants.

Libitina · 08/07/2016 18:52

I'm 46 and have never had really thin eyebrows. I don't do the 'scouse type brow' though. Too thin makes me look surprised and too thick makes me look grumpy.

Archedbrowse · 09/07/2016 08:20

Those micro bladed brows look fantastic transformer how are they different from the semi-permanent tattoos? I'm going to save up for the tattoo when back off mat leave but maybe should look at microblade. Where did you get them done (I'm NW too)?

pathetic I'm jealous of your HD brows. I'd love to be able to pull them off, but I'm too fair, even though I e got nice thick brows. Luckily my eyebrow lady (who does amazing HD brows) actually recognised this and does me a nice shape and lighter colour, which I love.
