WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Jan - half term, WEEK FOUR

wickedwaterwitchhaspmt · 21/01/2007 22:13

Right, here's something for a Monday morning and this and this

This is WEEK FOUR. The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

The Rules:

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

No, nothing in particular - just January, cold weather, house is in a mess (we're having it rewired atm), got my period, did my appraisal form at work this afternoon which always puts me in a bad mood, etc etc.

Am just compounding my crimes now by laying waste to a few squares of Green & Black's.

At least I haven't had any alcohol tonight (faintest glimmer of virtue). Nor yesterday neither.

am I allowed to come back on here yet WWW, if only for inspiration

StrangeTown · 22/01/2007 23:31

Up too late for this thread, I know sorry WWW.
Have played netball and slathered cream on.
Drunk loads of water, eaten lots of lovely home made Granola and spinach and rocket and free range chicken. (Not at all same time).
Hand cream is making a difference already.

FIT - fantastic news. Best wishes.

yoyo · 22/01/2007 23:50

Oh Bugger. A small glass of sherry deemed "crap" by Dh so imbibed a glass or two (cough , splutter) of fantastic red. Had a really good chat and "hope we have made the right choice" type convo so smiley quotient is high (would be very high if I had a back massage).

Bed now.

Monkeytrousers · 23/01/2007 09:49

Wongster, me and you watch from the naughty step

SnafuOutOfHiding · 23/01/2007 09:54

Hmmm, naughty step for me too. Yesterday was a total disaster, really, and my skin looks like shite.

But today is a brand new day, tra la la.

Congratulations, FIT

sunnywong · 23/01/2007 09:59

despite eating chips earlier in the day I have just done a very long bike ride and I will go to bed at 10.30. Please can i come back?

yoyo · 23/01/2007 11:06

FIT - congratulations! Keeping everthing crossed that all goes well for you.

Feeling very disappointed in myself. Need to get a grip and sort myself out. Much easier when DH is not around to stick to the rules.

wickedwaterwitchhaspmt · 23/01/2007 19:51

Suzy and MT, come on, off the naughty step, come back in.

A medium day for me

Granola
lentils and prawns
an apple
small box raisins
few pistachios and soya nuts
chicken breasts wrapped in proscuitto
spinach
broccoli
sweet potato
lots of water
only a 20 min walk at lunchtime but using sunscreen
Have to go to bed early tonight as need to leave at 7am tomorrow, yuk
have taken my make up off already

feel v grumpy due to pmt/work being irritating combo. Lethal.

OP posts:
wickedwaterwitchhaspmt · 23/01/2007 19:54

Oh and packet of wotsits (100 cal)

and last night I had:
2 squares 70% cocoa solids chocolate (100 cals)
2 pieces of proscuitto (70 cals)
3 pakoras and a bhajee (but only 160 cals altogether)
so reckon I ate way too many yesterday. But hey, have been better today.

Defo on naughty step with Suze and MT.
Had sausage and chips in canteen for lunch fgs. Dread to think what was in them. Kept thinking of Gillian McKeith and even that didn't put me off enough not to eat them.

Tried to make up for it with tea of toms, avocado, spinich, rocket and ciabatta.

Have creamed and drunk water and will go to bed early like a good girl.

Monkeytrousers · 23/01/2007 20:59

Okay

[wags tail and waits for treat]

[Doh]

swedishmum · 24/01/2007 00:52

Just come back from a long w/e in New York without children. On the plus side I walked loads, was happy and avoided lots of carbs. Minus point - drank too much and ate meals out. Not good day today as tired therefore latte etc plus pizza out with friend. Loads of water. Back on plan tomorrow. I've definitely lost some weight though which is fantastic - been out in clothes I wouldn't have worn a few weeks ago. All in all feeling pretty good. Many thanks www!

CAMy · 24/01/2007 08:03

Yesterday was a bit mixed, ate lean chicken and green beans for lunch (no potatoes) and lots of vegetables and a small amount of rice for supper. However, had a croissant for b/fast and didn't do any exercise. Gallons of water though.

It is snowing here today.

sunnywong · 24/01/2007 08:10

tell us more about NYC!

I made an appointment at the gym to get on a proper plan with "Daniel". Just hope to god he's not some young spunk in short shorts or may visible swell before him during our half hour session and that would be unseemly to say the least at my age. Yoga starts again next week and I have drunk a litre of water already today - or should that be 2?

CAMy · 24/01/2007 08:33

It might motivate you more though sunny if "Daniel" is attractive

moondog · 24/01/2007 08:36

lol at the 'young spunk'.
I'd forgotten that Aussies say that.
I went on a 20 mile bike ride yesterday.Twas brill until my pedal fell off......luckily 1/2 mile from home.

sunnywong · 24/01/2007 08:37

til your saddle fell off and you carried on riding, you slapper

moondog · 24/01/2007 08:38

Am so ill though-coughing like an old miner.

Yes, giving up the wine has been beneficial. This new regime of early to bed and no alcohol means I'm not quite so grumpy when DD gets me up at 5am.

I'm sticking with the plan, went to the gym yesterday, lots of potions, water. Over the last couple of days I've had breakfast smoothies (skimmed milk, museli, banana, honey, strawberries) and roasted veg focaccias (picked out the feta), some crackers and lots of crudites with skinny hummus.

I've lost another pound.

Huge congratulations FIT!!! Here, have a krispy kreme and go and put your feet up.

winnie · 24/01/2007 11:21

I am still doing ok. I seem to have more energy but as my period is due my skin is BAD which is still rather disappointing.

Had row with dd last night and instead of comfort eating I went for a walk which helped a lot.

Well done everyone

wickedwaterwitchhaspmt · 24/01/2007 17:56

Winne, me too on bad skin. Well done on going for a walk instead but sorry to hear about the row.

Ms Wong, ooh er at Daniel, do let us know hey?

Swedishmum, yes, tell us more about NYC, was it fab?

Arfy, well done on the 1lb and the healthy eating etc

Batters, well done and yes, I'm definitely getting better sleep without any booze, and I can also cope a LOT better if I don't get enough sleep as long as I haven't had any wine. I had a stupidly late night last night (don't know how late, dh said 'you don't want to know' as he turned the light off) and a very early start (got up at 5.45m) yet still feel ok because I wasn't drinking.

Strangetown, at least you're doing some of it, how was today, better?

OK day for me:

Granola
Water, prob not 2 litres but am drinking more now
and walked at least half an hour, I was in London for a meeting and on the way home had a very nostalgic walk past a flat in Olympia I lived in for some of my twenties (sob!) and then a pleasant nostalgic stroll from Olympia to High St Ken, which isn't half an hour but add on all the other walking between tube lines etc and I reckon it was half an hour easily. And it turned into such a lovely sunny day didn't it?
No sunscreen though because I couldn't see to put it on (should have done before leaving meeting shouldn't I?)
And lunch was provided which was a chicken sandwich, which I ate (500 cals) AND get these other things which I DIDN'T eat but brought home for my children: bag of crisps/Mars bar/cake

I used body lotion this morning and have come in and put cream on my feet, which are a lot better as a result of this plan

My boss more or less called me fat today, in front of people too, it was grim

But hey, onward and upward.

I think I've got inertia - and it's incurable

Am making pork saltimbocca tonight to celebrate dh's return from Geneva - might be eating his portion if the flight is delayed
