wickedwaterwitchhaspmt · 21/01/2007 22:13

Right, here's something for a Monday morning and this and this

This is WEEK FOUR. The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

The Rules:

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

OK crisis over. The 2lb vanished overnight. The gym clothes have a reprieve. But I've got my eye on them. Oh yes.

Now, it's Aw-Straaaaa-lia day today which means that there is a lot of barbequeing and beer drinking going on. I MUST drink wine to be patriotic or they will throw me out of the country. How much can I get away with d'you think? Bearing in mind that 1 glass is an insult to Australia and my palate.

WWW - I think not having carbs for a while would be a good idea. Don't cut them out completely, I think that would make you feel awful, but how about switching to something like rye bread and giving up heavily processed carbs? about your boss. There's really nothing worse. Years ago I used to work for a pair of psycho-bitches and it was hell.

You should be awarded a gold star for turning down wine and tapas. I would have crumbed the second I walked in.

arfishy · 25/01/2007 20:36

Crumbed? Hmmm perhaps too much food on the brain. Crumbled.

WideWebWitch · 25/01/2007 20:46

lol at crumbed arfy. Go for it on the wine, come back and tell us how shit you feel tomorrow to put us off our Friday binges (yeah right, like hell, nothing could stop me drinking wine tomorrow!) MARVELLOUS about the 2lb!

Thanks all for commiserations and congratulations on wine and tapas avoidance, it helps and I am pleased with myself

Batters, well done on biscuit front too.
Thanks cam.

OK, well, I may go off carbs for a little bit, I have to admit
that I thought lentils were mainly PROTEIN not carbs and I have been eating them instead of sandwiches as a carb avoidance tactic. Durr, durr I am a numpty. So maybe I'll start having fish salads for lunch, I could handle that.

WHERE IS EVERYONE ELSE, IT'S ONLY WEEK FOUR!!!

Late check in as per usual.
Fair to crap past few days.
Good on the water, excercise, creaming front, dodgy on the food consumption. It's the blardy canteen I am telling you. I don't usually go, but I have had visitors and work and had to take them .

No booze all week.

Some good work on here earlier in the week - but some midweek slacking going on I fear! We need some good updates tomorrow or WWW will not let us have our glasses of wine at weekend.

swedishmum · 25/01/2007 23:56

I've been cutting out carbs and definitely feel much more energetic. Asthma much improved too. I know I couldn't do the Atkins thing for long as I'd miss fruit too much though. I must admit to finding breakfast hard work though - was v much a toast girl - but have been eating steamed mushrooms with loads of black pepper. Dinner tonight was mediterranean veg roasted in 8 squirts of 1 calorie olive oil spray (not as good as the real stuff but v nice) with seared tuna and balsamic vinegar. Lunch - big salad w lots of raw veg and serrano ham. Balsamic vinegar is my saviour.

arfishyisabitsquiffy · 26/01/2007 07:56

So, we did Aus-traaaaaaaaaaaaaaalia day, and after much flag waving, clapping at the big swearing-in ceremony and patriotic wine-drinking I can safely say that I'm not feeling healthy or in a suitable state to chat to my mother.

CAMy · 26/01/2007 14:00

Afternoon girls!

I had to have my Friday wine last night because I can't drink tonight. Trouble was I also had one packet of low fat low salt crisps.

Otherwise pretty good on the food front, no exercise though as the snow was on the ground all day. Its gone now and we have very bright sunshine.

Food so far today: one 2-egg omelette with cherry tomatoes and 2 cups of coffee and a glass of orange juice.

yoyo · 26/01/2007 14:15

Still feeling quite down about my lardiness thanks to a full length mirror and strip lighting episode earlier this week. It has made me more determined though and I am sticking to the rules.

I am thinking much longer term here as I need to make changes which will lead to gradual but permanent improvements.

Right, this is an instruction to say fck it!

Fuck it. Have a lovely night. I am drinking Chablis and will be eating tandoori chicken (which isn't too bad) but I think we should all have a lovely weekend.

WideWebWitch · 26/01/2007 20:05

But
have taken make up off
ate granola, apple, lentils today
didn't walk but didn't have time, meetings over lunch

yajorome · 27/01/2007 08:10

Can I check in again? Fell off the rails a bit the past few days - a piece of toast here, a piece of cake with frosting there (my son's birthday was yesterday) and I'm really feeling it. Had almost completely cut out bread and don't feel great now. Also have been forgetting the water. Ack.

In my defence, it's been one of those weeks: flat tyre, locked out of house, undelivered birthday presents. Lots of minor things all at once. Oh, and I have the most disgusting blister on my heel from my new walking shoes which made walking any distance impossible for a couple of days.

Poor me, poor poor me.

Steamed mushrooms sound good. I have some in the fridge - maybe for breakfast? I've been eating lentils for lunch as well (well, I was... think part of the problem was running out) and losing weight. But then I have cut out bread and rice - so many calories and I'm hungry again too quickly.

Think calories are calories as Batters says. If a diet doesn't explicitly count them maybe it's easier to simply give up the things which tend to be overeaten/overserved/undercounted? That's my theory of the morning... the caffeine has not hit my brain yet, so it could be easily disproven!

And I sweated off my sunscreen and have a big red nose. Classy arfish, classy.

Today I have erm, not done much at all, but resisted a fry-up and have eaten healthily and had lots of water.

Enjoy your wine ladies. Personally I'm steering clear tonight

winnie · 27/01/2007 17:52

Have had a good week as far as the boot camp is concerned.

  • eating well & healthy inc 5+ portions fruit & veg a day
  • water intake is between 1-2 litres a day & I've cut down coffee intake and upped herbal tea intake
  • alcohol limited to weekends only
  • cleansing, sunscreen, hand cream an dhoof cream being used daily
  • am mostly going to bed early and reading in bed (which is a joy)
  • am endeavouring to be happy despite everything!!
  • I am also taking zinc, echinicea and multi vit & mins tablets daily

My one failing is exercise and I promise to try harder. Have taken to going walking to let off steam if ds isn't here and have found it very helpful.

I can tell from my clothes that I've lost some weight.

My skin feels better but isn't yet looking better (which I blame on the time of the month).

Good luck all.

WideWebWitch · 27/01/2007 20:18

Today

an Innocent smoothie, 140 cals
2 pieces toast and marmite
small amount smoked salmon
lentils with a tiny bit of feta and capers, garlic, lemon juice
a tiny petit four sized rice crispy cake with a mini egg on top
another 5/6 mini eggs @ 15 cals each, oops
2 organic sausages
a half portion of cod wrapped in procsuitto, didn't really want it because of aforementioned sausages, I just wasn't hungry
prob not enough water
BUT DID walk for 30 mins, some of it uphill, wearing sunscreen
am drinking wine now but dh says I fell asleep at 10.15 last night, (on the sofa mind you, mid tv programme, middle age is SO charming innit?) so I inadvertently followed that rule. Will v likely be in bed even earlier tonight, am knackered from 6am wake up

Gosh, it's week five on Monday. My clothes are def looser, skin terrible but reckon due to period.

WideWebWitch · 27/01/2007 20:20

Well done arfy, and yajarome, sorry you had a rubbish week. Batters, me too except it was Chablis and a tandoori chicken. Good for you winnie, again, well done on using exercise as a response to stress (sorry not meaning to sound patronising!)

foundintranslation · 27/01/2007 20:23

Evening all you virtuous ones
Have been struggling to do anything, let alone be healthy. Today was spent invigilating an exam (yes, on Saturday) and then marking 70 papers (eating lots of fruit while doing so, though), with 45 still to go. Can hardly stand up straight.
I have gone off almost all drinks except water

WideWebWitch · 27/01/2007 20:24

But you're up the duff FIT so can be excused!

foundintranslation · 27/01/2007 20:24
Smile
swedishmum · 27/01/2007 23:38

Hope it's going well, FIT. I ate pretty healthily today until a friend told me about a new deli down the road - all home made, organic etc. Felt the need to try out red pepper and goats cheese tart..... Chicken and salad tonight so not feeling too bad about tart. Two weeks today we are off to Tenerife so renewed effort here.

CAMy · 28/01/2007 12:58

Well done Winnie

Dd had her birthday party for her friends yesterday which was a cookery course where they made their own lunch and ate it.

Parental involvement not needed so went to Waitrose with dh and bought a massive trolley load (it doesn't work food shopping while hungry does it)

Did eat a few bits both yesterday and today which are not part of my "plan" but in much much smaller quantities than before.

Have exercised though.

Will hit it big time for weeks 5 & 6, promise!
