Right, here's something for a Monday morning and this and this

This is WEEK FOUR. The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

The Rules:

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

Evening all.
Thanks for the congratulations! Want to carry on here as far as pg allows. Today wasn't a great day, though, as have had episodes of slight nausea and have only been able to manage odd things (custard, pasta with nothing but butter, ginger biscuits). I'm completely and utterly shattered - the pg (and I'm still bf ds) along with our difficult life situation (summary on other thread) is taking its toll. Did walk to work and back twice, well, it was more of a wade really, through the snow

at your boss making personal comments www!

I had a small omelette for brunch and a large amount of mediterranean vegetables (with a very good quality sausage) for supper.

Lots of water and a cup of fruit tea.

Also did some aerobics.

Its icy outside.

swedishmum · 24/01/2007 22:31

Had a great time in NYC thanks. Flew Club (for free - special offer with dh's airmiles) so not jetlagged. Gorgeous but expensive restaurant right under Brooklyn Bridge with view back over Manhattan - River Cafe. We walked loads, dh put up with MOMA and I walked out of CompUSA (realised just how little we have in common!!). Great not to have to think of 4 kids all the time. Fantastic but very cold weather. Ah well, back to reality ...

CAMy · 25/01/2007 09:21

at swedishmum's trip to NYC.

The cold last night was making me hungry, got a bit of a carb craving but did not give in

Ate a few cherry tomatoes and a handful of unsalted nuts instead. No alcohol.

It snowed last night, we have a covering and its very cold.

OK, let's recap:

I've given up wine
I've given up Thai green Curry
I've given up cheese
I've given up food ffs.

I have levered my lazy backside off the sofa and have been going to the gym 3-4 times per week. This is UNHEARD of. I have never done this before in my life.

So why am I 2lb heavier this morning?

Give me one good reason not to dive face first into a box of krispy kreme doughnuts, pour a flagon of wine into one of my extremely large wine glasses, burn my gym kit and give up. Right now.

I am sulking and taking this badly.

CAMy · 25/01/2007 10:13

Hold it right there, arfishy!

You're turning fat into muscle, which weighs more.

Forget the weight, are you more toned, are you feeling and looking slimmer, do you feel fit and healthy?

My advice: stay off the scales (I don't even own any)

The wheels have completely come off this whole thing for me, thanks to grim day stuck at home with electrician and roof insulation people making entire house filthy and horrid.

How can I redeem myself, oh goddesses?

CAMy · 25/01/2007 11:45

Batters now everyone will know

I should have lied about my age shouldn't I ?

CAMy · 25/01/2007 11:47

www, are you at work today with rude boss?

Dino needs some attention here

arfishy · 25/01/2007 11:49

Hmmmm. I might just take some measurements and check out your theory cam.

CAMy · 25/01/2007 12:25

I've taken it off now Batters so if we keep very very quiet I might have just got away with it d'you think

Please don't be, I just suddenly realised it might be an identifying fact to RL iykwim

sassy · 25/01/2007 14:36

HI

Doing much better on water, exercise, eating and bed times. (Not as good as our guru indicates, but much better than usual.

I have reduced the booze, but not cut it out completely. Prob down to 5-6 units p/wk max now.

Have lost a couple of lbs

BUT I am still spottier than I was at 14. There is no justice! I will persevere though...

CAMy · 25/01/2007 15:53

Where's the Witch ?

WideWebWitch · 25/01/2007 18:35

Hello everyone. I was at work with rude boss today, I destested him before than but now my contempt knows no bounds. We were asked to submit questions to him prior to a meeting and I suggested "ask him when he's going to learn some manners" but only to someone who works for me . He is a complete tosser. Anyway, anyway, I've just got to not let it get to me.

Anyway,today

Granola
loads of water
lentils with prawns
an apple
AND there was a work do in a wine bar at lunchtime and my boss was insisting I had a large glass of wine and...I DIDN'T! HE was VERY insistent so in the end I took it and poured it into colleagues glasses. There was also loads of tapas type food and I DIDN'T touch it! I thought about how good it would be to post about it here (I know but it spurred me on) and I resisted all blandishments with "I've had my lunch," which I had.
Walked there, only 20 mins but better than nothing
Used sunscreen
loads of water
but am not feeling very happy really, af has started so maybe tomorrow I'll feel a bit more cheerful. Dh is out tonight so I'll go to bed with the laptop and a book I think. REALLY want a comforting glass of wine but am not having one.

Arfy, what a fker hey? If you feel better, don't weigh yourself, go on how you feel. If you don't feel better, set fire to the gym clothes and dive into a vat of wine. Let me know which is nicer

Cam, I can't believe you're 50, when I met you you didn't remotely look anywhere near it (I know was a coupla years ago)

PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS!
Right, what do we all reckon about carbs? I feel very fat and bloated and ugly and pissed off today. I've been having 500 cal of granola, which is apparently med GI, for breakfast and it HAS been filling me up until lunchtime and then 500 cal of puy lentils for lunch. But India's diet bans lentils, and my GI diet book says NO LENTILS and NO GRANOLA. So, are all calories equal and will eat less, exercise more + sticking to 1700 cals per day work? Surely it will? But I felt my conviction waver on the way home tonight and would appreciate any views.

I know I'll feel better tomorrow and even better when I'm not working for tosser any more (it's looking likely but not for 6 months). Thanks for listening.

WideWebWitch · 25/01/2007 18:36

detested him, not destested.

WideWebWitch · 25/01/2007 18:36

Twas another boss (who is perfectly OK) who was insisting on wine btw, not the one who was rude to me.

WideWebWitch · 25/01/2007 18:38

And dh is cooking salmon and spinach and broccoli for supper.

CAMy · 25/01/2007 19:12

Hi www, sue the boss for sexual harassment for making that comment on the grounds he wouldn't (dare) do it to a man

Carbs?

My feeling is that all calories are equal but that the cutting out of them for a couple of weeks (and its not healthy to do it longer than that) gives the metabolism a kick?

Salmon, spinach and broccoli, yum
