Title can refer either to our upcoming holidays, or our upcoming fleeing from the Bojo-led charabanc of doom.

Monty - hope you slept well- it's horrible running on not enough sleep.

Found myself thinking if only Nichola Sturgeon had been Labour, she'd be the obvious person. Every day I way up and find Corbyn is still there, clinging to power which makes me think he is a little, little man.

DD1 told me some stories about men she's encountered in clubs who just won't take no for an answer that she doesn't want to dance - the male ego is so fragile. Even when she says she has a boyfriend (although she shouldn't have to justify herself). She said one guy went on all evening and then grabbed her and kissed her while she was leaving. She was really upset.

motherinferior · 30/06/2016 07:50

In an aside: puy lentil pie as delicious and not very like Homity Pie at allGrinand have you seen the thread about delicious omelettes????

As you were. I am behind with work and am going to have to hammer it to meet a lunchtime deadline.

Blackduck · 30/06/2016 08:22

Monty there's only one thing worse than a fidgety child and that's a hot fidgety child..... hope you got some sleep!

I am feeling discombobulated at the moment what with everything going on - as dp said he doesn't think he's looked at the news quite so much as in the last week or so.... this time last week Crepeys.....

Cremolafoam · 30/06/2016 08:28

Auriga, it is heartening to hear of civilised debate at the party meeting. But 50:50 is worrying. How can a consensus ever be reached about the leadership? I can kind of understand why JC is hanging in there now, given what I've read about the rebels, but it looks so chaotic from the outside. Sad I see Angela Eagle is circling now...

Hatty, that sounds disturbing re dd1. Not sure I understand what happened exactly, but being groped is vile.

Monty, how are things this morning?

MI, nose to the grindstone! I must do similar. Final push on painting and then I never want to see another pot of emulsion ever again.Hmm

Lalsy · 30/06/2016 08:31

Monty, hope you all got a good night's sleep....

Auriga - that is heartening. I think many of JC's loudest supporters are not in Lab and won't get in (unless it splits). I really hope the people making death threats are not party members. My CLP OTOH, has not announced a change to its scheduled motion tonight, on right to buy. There will be a debate, they just don't like telling people.

Hatty, I agree, can't we arrange a transfer? - we send off some of our useless men and get back some of those fab Scottish women.

bigTillyMint · 30/06/2016 09:19

Some men don't change, eh? Being groped or worse was par for the course back in the early 80's when I was clubbing at 16. And after. Vile, but you learn how to deal with it.

Re JC, the yoof seem to rate him - DD really likes him because she thinks he is "real" Sadly, he just doesn't have the charisma/leadership qualities to convince everyone.

Monty, hope your DS is better and you got some sleep.

And Flowers, MrsS.

Lalsy · 30/06/2016 09:40

He is real. I can see that. But the people he surrounds himself with......And he has let youth down badly with so many Lab areas voting Leave and so many Lab voters not knowing if the party had a policy ffs....I can't forgive him for that. Stupid gesture politics not to appear with DC (given the people he has appeared with). I will shut up about this now!

motherinferior · 30/06/2016 09:49

I am somewhat unconvinced by his reality. But then I am scarred by run-ins with his political machine back in the 1990s. It is significant that nobody who worked for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament at the time - and we are all hoary old lefties, not the closet Tories we're accused of being - has any time for that machine. I'm not going to elaborate on an open forum but it was a very nasty experience.

Lalsy · 30/06/2016 09:54

MI, completely agree - I had diff but similar experience (ahem, accidentally got involved with SWP and was too polite to clarify the situation, and other things!). Scary.

Lalsy · 30/06/2016 09:54

MrsS, thinks Rose had an excellent suggestion....

hattymattie · 30/06/2016 11:55

I think if he was real, he would have done the decent thing and stepped down rather than clinging on to power. I actually agreed with Cameron's point that it benefits the Conservatives but not the nation. I don't understand why Jeremy doesn't get this.

Lalsy · 30/06/2016 13:00

He - or his supporters anyway - don't seem interested in parliamentary power, Hatty. They are interested in popular uprisings. John McD, it emerged yesterday, was conducting a health policy review in secret, excluding all members of the shadow health team. Heidi A had done a good job in holding Hunt to account most commentators thought, but was cut off at the knees. JC et al don't care, because that is how they have always done politics - if you don't agree you are the enemy and worthy only of scorn and the real stuff is done in secret with people who already agree with you. But I can see how he comes across to young people fed up with slimeballs in suits and who don't remember what it was like before Kinnock.

CointreauVersial · 30/06/2016 13:06

Sniggering at "keep your chins up"

Cremolafoam · 30/06/2016 13:15

Ooooh Boris is out!

bigTillyMint · 30/06/2016 13:22

Fucking Hell!

That twat caused the result of the vote and now he doesn't feel able to follow it through.

It just shows that we were all right in thinking that he was only doing it for the fun of the argument/celebrity status.

hattymattie · 30/06/2016 13:24
Shock
CointreauVersial · 30/06/2016 13:24

It was said before - he didn't expect Leave to win, and it scuppered things for him.

He'll be back.....he'll bide his time until May (or whoever) have copped all the flack after leading the country out of the EU, then he'll step in as the great saviour. He's only, what? 51? He has time on his side.

herbaceous · 30/06/2016 13:35

That's what I reckon, CV. Actually sorting out the mess of his own creation is too hard, so he'll let May/Gove do it, then bumble in blondly in a couple of years for the next general election. By which stage he'll imagine we'll all have forgotten what a backstabbing shite he is. And, indeed, I bet that will be the case, and it be all 'ooh lovely funny Boris, him off the telly'.

Rosebag · 30/06/2016 13:46

James O'Brien on LBC said earlier something to the effect of...'He who wields the knife won't wear the crown...' All part of his game plan, I reckon.

All wrecked at this end. I escaped to a teachers meeting and a trolley push leaving the DC in bed. DD seems to have had a good time at Prom last night. I was a little sad that the friends who originally said (along with DD) that they weren't going to the "after party" at the last minute made arrangements to in fact go, and got lifts etc. without her. DD is adamant that she didn't want to go, but still Hmm Sad

She has her birthday tea party today, so I hope it cheers her up a bit. DS2 has his Yr 13 Prom tonight somewhere in Soho. I am preparing for a huge family weekend function....with the mixed feelings I always have about these things. It kicks off with me hosting 20 for supper tomorrow night. I feel tired just thinking about it.

Monty poor you and DS. I do hope he's on the mend now. How on earth are you managing to work on no sleep....?

O a minor S&B note, I snaffled

this dress into my trolley when going round Sainsbos this morning, and a linen pink dress which isn't on the website. Haven't tried them on yet. Worried the first one will make me look a bit wench like...

Blackduck · 30/06/2016 13:50

Blimey I am getting scared to look at a news site...

I hate Boris, but also what a shite, make a mess and then run away, and unfortunately I do think he will be back.....

Lalsy · 30/06/2016 14:03

Words fail me (you will all be glad to hear).

Lovely dress, Rose, that will look great on you. Was it deliberate about the after party? They have a rep (round here anyway) of being....hairy....think dc often quite ambivalent?

MontserratCaballe · 30/06/2016 14:03

I like that dress, Rose. Really pretty. Can't beat a bit of TU.

I am working very slowly indeed but am making progress of sorts. A lot of (non low carb) cake has been consumed. The trousers of truth are straining.

Am slightly Shock by this morning and wary of logging onto a news website for fear of what might happen next. If May gets in, that will be human rights done for as well... To think, a week ago, none of this had happened. Proper shocking.

MontserratCaballe · 30/06/2016 14:05

BTW, MI and I are thinking of a S London gin up next Wednesday. Anyone fancy it?

motherinferior · 30/06/2016 14:16

I met my lunchtime deadline but am now dragging knuckles feet for the next one.

Bastard Boris.

bigTillyMint · 30/06/2016 14:23

Like the dress Rose.

Monty/MI, I might be able to do thatWink

And yes, what a shit-storm we are all caught up in Sad
