Lalsy, this is when I morph seamlessly into being Irish, when travelling. Blush CremIrlandaise as it were.

herbaceous · 14/07/2016 13:02

My first thought upon the Brexit vote was to get a load of t shirts printed up saying 'don't by hate me - I was one of the 48%' in a variety of holiday-friendly languages.

Agree, Herbs.

"My fellow countrymen are idiots"

Stropperella · 14/07/2016 17:17

Health and safety warning: if you have weedy sensitive Celtic skin, do not purchase giant plasters infused with umpty-two essential oils to relieve nerve/muscle pain. Your pain will not be relieved, and you will end up with a luminous pink lumpy bumcheek which is probably itchier than the itchiest thing on the planet. Also do not purchase French 'cooling gel' for the same reason. My arse is now hot, pink and lumpy and reassembling some of the odd creatures we saw in the aquarium in La Rochelle.

Stropperella · 14/07/2016 17:26

CV, I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. Your poor dm Sad
I haven't as yet had anyone mention Brexit to me here in France. Everyone is too polite.

Stropperella · 14/07/2016 18:32

Wah, Beachy, it's going to be proper roasting here for you next week. We've had mainly sunny but also cloudy and cool. It's hotting up at the weekend

motherinferior · 14/07/2016 18:36

Sorry about your bum, Stropps. Reminds me of my very first driving test, which I did with a wasp sting inflating my arse to give me an extra buttock.

Rosebag · 14/07/2016 18:47

Oh lord stropps I think sitting in a bag of frozen peas might help. You poor thing. Shock

Hello all from Outside The EU..... We are chilling back at the hotel. Reasonable flight. Great, efficient train from Zurich to Luzern. Super welcome at the hotel and fab rooms over looking the lake. Beautiful place, Luzern. Kind of reminds me of Banff a couple of years ago but without the North American influence. Have been into the old town. It's really charming. But it is bloody cold although the rain has cleared up. Warmer weather is forecast. Have just had chocolates and an offer of fresh towels delivered to the room. We haven't used the old ones yet.... Shock

Wish you better addle You need some sun and warmth.

Cremolafoam · 14/07/2016 18:50

Long may it last Stropps. I don't get there til 5th Aug. Hope you're back has settled Stropps. Sorry about the arôme thérapeutique being nowt but snake oil.

Funeral passed off ok. Heartbreaking little readings from my nieces for their Nana. SadWasn't a dry eye in the kirk. Wasn't a seat in it either. We had to sit on benches in the garden outside and listen to a speaker. Still feeling somewhat weepy.

CointreauVersial · 14/07/2016 20:19

Rose - DH is also in Switzerland this evening (but Geneva). I can't remember - is it just a holiday, or was there a purpose to your trip?

MI - I did most of my driving test with one eye half shut and weeping, having got dust under one contact lens half way round. I think the examiner passed me because he thought I was crying.

bigTillyMint · 14/07/2016 21:14

Oh CremoSad

Rose, is Luzern the same place as Lucerne? Confused

Stropps, a bag of frozen peas does sound just the thing. Poor you.

I feel like I have been hit by a bus and am just clinging on by my fingernails...

Blackduck · 14/07/2016 21:30

I have no fingernails to cling on with.....

bigTillyMint · 14/07/2016 21:32

{{}} BD

I've had a title sleep curled up the sofa with darling jet-lagged and emotionally wrung out nephew and pet kitten ( who sleeps in the hood of his sweatshirt) Aww

Blackduck · 14/07/2016 21:44

Aw Cremo what a lovely image.. :)

CointreauVersial · 15/07/2016 00:03

Chuckling at Andrew Neil quoting Theresa May: "When I wrote "F Off" next to Boris's name I did NOT mean Foreign Office" Grin

CointreauVersial · 15/07/2016 00:24

Awful what is unfolding in the Nice story. Sad

MontserratCaballe · 15/07/2016 07:01

Hugs to you, BD. We are all behind you.

Crem, that sounds so sweet. How long are they staying?

Stropps, your poor bum. I hope you get some relief soonFlowers

I am so sad for France this morning. Twice in one year and on such a huge scale. Those poor people.

Cremolafoam · 15/07/2016 07:17

Nice atrocity is horrific. 86 people dead. SadI have no words.

Lalsy · 15/07/2016 07:33

No words indeed. Sad

Crem, what a sad day - lovey picture of you with dnephew.

BD, this has been gong on so long hasn't it? You poor thing

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/07/2016 08:48

BD hope you're OK. We had several meetings with boss yesterday that got a bit shouty (not me). He looked very tired afterwards, and was Iashing out at people. I stayed behind after the last one and asked him sarcastically if he thought it had gone well and what he could have done better. Got him to admit and apologise for something he had blamed me for, but that he was guilty of doing as well. Things not happy all round.

What has happened in Nice is beyond awful.

hattymattie · 15/07/2016 09:03
Sad
Blackduck · 15/07/2016 09:06

I am just exhausted crepeys. The last 8 months or so have just been hideous and I am struggling to hold it together. There appears to be no stability in any aspect of my life and that is challenging to say the least.
I want to run away and hide somewhere for a very long time.....

Good on you MrsS - stand your ground. I am starting to say 'no' a lot too and pushing back. For example they have clearly made changes to the budget signatories on my budget and I now do not know who can sign off on it. I am about to tell them that in that case I will not be responsible for it.

Blackduck · 15/07/2016 09:07

Nice - I have no words....

NUFC69 · 15/07/2016 09:29

BD, sorry that things continue to be rubbish for you {{{hugs}}}, and for you, too, MrsS. Stropps, how are you doing now? Crem, when do you go to Glasgow (and good luck when you do).

I am beyond belief at what has happened in Nice, and also furious at those people who took videos, etc., instead of helping the injured and dying (and, in any case, why would you film people's suffering?).

DH and I have been changing the covers on our Multiyork sofa, etc. When we bought the spare covers we had assumed that it would be quite an easy job to change them and alter the look of the sitting room - what we hadn't anticipated that it's such hard work we would be knackered afterwards.
