Ooh congrats you two with intervoos!
Herbs you could do SH's 'Digging' with actions Grin for your practice!

Have been to Somme memorial. Twas moving and sad. I looked at all the young soldiers and thought how young they were and tried to imagine the impact of none of them ever coming backSad
Much weeping on the reading of 3 great uncles names.
Feel a bit startled. Whats Brexit all about ffs? I feel like we are lettjng our forefathers and mothers down.

Now off to bloody work. Meh!

herbaceous · 01/07/2016 16:29

It's a specific SH poem, sadly. About houses. Or summat. I'm not much good at poetry. I find it irritating.

Lalsy · 01/07/2016 17:09

MI and Herbs, fantastic!

And Herbs, me too on poetry (mostly).

Crem, I feel just like that Sad.

herbaceous · 01/07/2016 17:12

I like a good limerick. Or some Pam Ayres. DP despairs of me - he did English Lit, and ADORES poetry.

Herbs - shitty for DH but fantastic news on TA interview.

Have been shopping for dresses with DD's. DD2 ultra difficult as usual, tries on fabulous dress, gives attitude and tells the shop assistants she wants a dress for an under 40 year old. She was downright rude - even DD1 told her off. Then she announced that she had to rush off to meet friend who had been a complete bitch to her some weeks before. I laid into her about priorities and have come home, leaving DD1 to deal with the situation.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 17:34

Hi Lovely Crepes

I'm keeping a lowish profile as I'm not very good company atm. i still have the rage about all things political in a way that shows no signs of abating any time soon. Not sure what to do with quite so much impotent fury. Any ideas? I feel people should be DOING something, that we can just sit back and let this farce / tragedy roll on as if it is an inevitability... but fuck only knows what anyone can actually do... if nothing else it has made me super sweaty, like a female Malcolm Tucker. Even the teenagers have told me off so it must be bad. When I told Ds2 off yesterday for saying "Piss Off" he said to me that I couldn't possibly correct him as I had "normalised swearing in this house." He was right.

Well done to everyone on their various successes - Herbs, will be sending you lashings of good vibes for the job which sounds right up your street - is it full or part time? Poor dh, no doubt his colleagues will all vibe redundant soon when they relocate to Madrid...

Mrs S, you are surrounded by ungrateful and graceless idiots and most under appreciated. It honestly is them not you... Like the machete idea. Or how about just thumping the table loudly next time someone speak over you and saying "Excuse me, I was speaking before you interrupted / spoke over me and it is INCREDIBLY rude. Now, as I was saying..." Or the MN favourite, "Did you mean to be quite so rude?" Fuckers.

Crem, noticed you have reverted to your old and original name - nice one. Agree with you about the Somme commemorations being even more poignant in the light of recent events. Madness.

Much love to all and good weekends to everyone. X

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 17:35

And a very well done indeed to you too MI. Good work!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 17:37

HaHa - I meant super sweary rather than super sweaty... but now I think about it....

Lalsy · 01/07/2016 17:50

GGG, I am both sweaty and sweary, and very bad tempered. All I can think of to do is join a political party (however imperfect) and push for a pro-EU leader/representation/sovereignty of parliament and keep a weather eye on eg the crowd funding for legal advice about whether an Act is needed. I don't think it is over yet.

When dd and I went to Flanders, we were told that the reason the larger sites have a stone as well as a cross was to be inclusive - for those of all faiths and none. They managed that in 1919 when King, country and God were so intertwined. I though of that today. Sorry, crepeys, am trying to cheer up and move on.......

Lalsy · 01/07/2016 17:58

Or there is a march tomorrow, at which I imagine there will be some imaginative chanting about Johnson and Gove......

hattymattie · 01/07/2016 17:59

I'm with you Giddy and Lalsy - plus the French language exam for naturalisation seems really hard.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 17:59

So hmmm, perhaps what is being attributed to PMT / meno symptoms... is actually acute Brexititis, or maybe an allergy to lying Tory buffoons....

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 18:00
GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 18:01

It seems my dh and both dss are eligible for german passports... but not me. Oh well, perhaps they'll send me food parcels from Berlin...

herbaceous · 01/07/2016 18:15

I am emerging from the fury but merely into bewilderment, with a danger of it turning into impotent apathy. Against which I must fight.

Occurred to me last night that the left just needs to stop using language like 'implement robust employment rights', and say 'make sure everyone gets a decent wage, so you don't have to worry about Polish carpenters undercutting you'. Politicians talk in such abstract terms that it's no wonder no one feels understood.

OP posts:
GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/07/2016 18:20

Can you market that as a business idea Herbs? like a Plain English Campaign translating political rhetoric into normal language?!

herbaceous · 01/07/2016 19:16

I find it horrifying to think that there isn't one already.

OP posts:
Cremolafoam · 01/07/2016 19:55

If you could extend that to the people who work above me Herbs that would be terrific. Some of the business speak in my emails here, require full translation. Seriously , absolutely no clue what one of them refers to or why it has been sent on to me to fucking sort out even though it's not my job and it has been dumped on me to sort out over the weekend Bastards. As if I hadn't got enough to do, cos I am solo why and presumably will spend the entire weekend drinking coffee with my feet on a desk.
Rah!
Have written to MP, ( leave) Fat lot of good it will do. Would march tomorrow if I could, as like you GGG I feel so utterly powerless against the tide of madness.
Generally I am so peevish.

Cremolafoam · 01/07/2016 20:00

And Hatty, I am sorry for wretchedness with Dd2. Brattish madams in this house were forced to clean kitchen cupboards afair.Wink

herbaceous · 01/07/2016 20:05

I would love to be a Plain English warrior, expunging jargon from the world. Trouble is, lots of management types don't know how to speak any other way, and while they don't actually know what they're talking about are loathe to admit it.

OP posts:
Blackduck · 01/07/2016 20:45

GGG really if you have any ideas I'm with you. I just feel impotent...

herbaceous · 01/07/2016 21:54

Ooh, I've just he's the Wales match. Feeling all emotional! Must be my valleys ancestry. Well, one grandma...

OP posts:
Lalsy · 01/07/2016 22:38

Yaaaay Wales!

addle · 02/07/2016 00:00

On a different note, crepeys, just back from the menier 'into the woods' . As long as you can bear Sondheim (I love him), is wonderful. Dd blew me out abd dh came hobbled along with me and really enjoyed despite crutches and pain.

Re impotent anger it's not over yet - I may not March tomorrow but will right letters etc. I don't accept as everyone on radio keeps saying that we just have to make the best of it. Why? That's where all gore went wrong imho.
Mrs s could you slight right down and go all thatcher on them? Idiots

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 02/07/2016 06:12

Up early to take dd1 off to the airport and her adventures. Five weeks travelling, I'll miss her lots.....
