Viva dresses! They don't have to be super dressy, but if they are plain and you wear embellished sandals and some jewellery I think it would be fine. For our honeymoon last year we stayed at the sort of place I imagine you mean, which was different to what we normally do as well - I wore dresses every night to dinner in the hotel (silk maxi, that sort of thing). I think the smart shorts would be fine too.

Your DH needs some nice deck shoes/boat shoes and chinos/chino shorts!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 19/07/2016 13:55

Blair your outfit today sounds lovely and very appropriate for summer in the city.

shopafrolic · 19/07/2016 13:58

Didn't I try your glasses and look like a tit Amber can't remember

Bernice I am wearing this Coast dress tonight. I like that Whistles skirt a lot but sitting on hands as I am trying not to spend too much this month.

I have just ordered this Iris and Ink silk shirt in the Outnet sale in both brick red and ivory. Hoping they will be good work basics. My Uniqlo silk shirts are all looking a bit old and tatty.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/07/2016 14:00

Amber you mean a US4? That's the size I was going to order, as I wear a 4 in the Bevina and Zarita :) if it's too big, that would be great thanks!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/07/2016 14:10

Thank you Bernice! (lots of posts today I keep missing them!)

Lovely shirts Lib, I was just thinking yesterday what a shame it is Uniqlo have stopped doing their silk. I might try their silk touch range as I have a pussybow blouse from there that isn't polyester but never needs ironing.

Everyonelovessparkles · 19/07/2016 14:41

viva what about a nice white skirt to wear with the dressy tops? There's quite a few knocking about in the sales. Or a couple of dresses that you could dress up with jewellery? Is there anything mentioned on trip advisor about dress codes? Do you have anything from any previous summer weddings that might be suitable? It's bizarre that it says no sandals for men but shorts are ok! I've been to a few places where it says men need to wear long trousers but sandals are usually acceptable. Could he wear something like this toms or bertie Not sure if that's any help.....

VivaVegas · 19/07/2016 14:57

Thanks, I've looked on the resorts website and on trip advisor and its all a bit mixed! Can I ask where you have seen white skirts in the sales Everyone as I like the idea of that, would work with the tops I already have and give me an alternative if the shorts are a no go. I'm good with dresses and sandals so nearly there!

Everyonelovessparkles · 19/07/2016 15:29

Not sure what styles you like but here are a couple midi or ted baker or karen millen or midi 2 I also saw a couple in reiss in the sale for around £50, one was a pencil skirt and one was knee length box pleat. Or there's quite a few on the John Lewis website!

Everyonelovessparkles · 19/07/2016 15:31

reiss pleat or reiss pencil

Everyonelovessparkles · 19/07/2016 15:36

warehouse a bit like the Km but half the price!

libertydoddle · 19/07/2016 17:44

On train in way to this event. Am so hot, worried about sweat marks on dress (grim). Hair drooping, make up just about holding on. Oh well, will just have to drink lots of prosecco and blank it out Grin

VivaVegas · 19/07/2016 17:50

Thanks Everyone that gives me a few to look at.

libertydoddle · 19/07/2016 18:36

Am OK. In air conditioned pub beside the venue having a restorative glass of cider!

VivaVegas · 19/07/2016 18:56

Have a good evening Liberty, am sure you look fab!

shopafrolic · 19/07/2016 19:02

Have fun Lib
In terms of evening wear in hotels. We are going to a Sensatori resort (5* claim). DH has to wear smart trousers so he has one fab moccasins that he got from Massimo Dutti last year on a Voguette's recommendation. I will wear dresses and sandals most evenings. When we went to Tenerife in April I wore smart jeans, cashmere jumper or pretty top and heels. If it is a hot place it is usually fairy relaxed I've found. Even at the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman it was remarkably laid back.

Lib have a wonderful night! I bet you look fantastic

Shop that sounds good, I admit we didn't dress up much at all in Portugal. But I do like a good dress on holiday

MarshaBrady · 19/07/2016 19:18

Viva I would go for a dress and flats, every time. The flats take the edge of either a maxi or shorter and you feel free and comfortable, whilst still feeling dressed up a bit. It's a nice feeling in resorts like that as you don't have to go far!

MarshaBrady · 19/07/2016 19:19

I'm so excited to be officially on hols now, I might have to celebrate. Also feeling grateful for booking it so early in the school holidays, I thought it might be too early, but no.

VivaVegas · 19/07/2016 20:55

Yes I think ours will be similar to a Sensatori resort as the same rating (allegedly!) and company.
I'm a bit unsure if it's us, we generally go to Greece and like a wander and dinner and drinks at different tavernas each night so it will be weird staying in resort, although I have done my research on where is nearby if we want to get out!
Sitting in the garden with a g & t beautiful evening!

AmberNectarine · 19/07/2016 21:19

I cannot sit in the garden as I planned as there is a. A dead mouse and b. A dazed blackbird out there. Plus I have to keep Admiral Dickhead from getting out and finishing the job.

Anyone thinking about getting a cat? I'll do you a really good deal...

MN Vogue - vol 71
Longislandicetee · 19/07/2016 22:08

Your cat is a cutie Amber! I can see how those Sandy-esque tops would suit you. I think I am too short waisted to pull it off!

Viva, tends to wear shirt, Bermuda chinos and Ralph Lauren boat shoes or shirt, long chinos and proper shoes (brown, which signals a smart casual affair).

I tend to wear long dress with my favourite bejewelled Dune sandals and accessories.

Hope you're having a good time Lib.

Hope you're all packed Marsha! I am having a piña colada for you to kick your holiday off!!Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 20/07/2016 00:49

hope your evening went well lib

I ordered a couple of McQueen leather wrap bracelets from the outnet, one with a swallow on and the other a razor as I'm collecting different colours. I think that makes five razor ones i have now Blush

AmberNectarine · 20/07/2016 08:20

We pretty much always holiday at upmarket resorts because I'm a lazy bint who won't cook or stagger far from the cocktail bar. I pretty much exclusively wear bodycon dresses, strappy sandals (flat or heeled) and lots of jewellery. Minimal make up as I have a tan, maybe just mascara, lippy and a bit of highlighter, hair up in a chignon or bun. Jobs a good'un.

Need to start thinking about my holiday wardrobe(s) actually. Going for palette of black, white and red this year.

MarshaBrady · 20/07/2016 09:20

I do love a good resort, but I am lazy on holiday too

I've forgotten what I need for the plane, do you take a jumper?
