My favourite summer purchase is my black Whistles shirt dress - so easy to wear and a great slouchy shape (plus pockets - love pockets). Smile Morning all!

QueenC1 · 13/07/2016 08:23

Morning. My favourite purcase has been my gap girlfriend jeans-I love them!

Everyonelovessparkles · 13/07/2016 08:52

dry hope the st tropez worked. Grin at Ross Geller, I love that episide.

That is a good tip blair. I have tried to do that and it does help. I think I'm worse when something is in the sale and is a perceived 'bargain'.

Good luck for today amber. What outfit did you decide on?

One of my surprise hits was a black and white spotty ravello too from boden. I've worn it nearly every week for work as its summery without being overly summery, if you know what I mean, given that we haven't actually had much of a summer.

FlamingoFling · 13/07/2016 09:11

Have enjoyed reading your fashion chat instead of working I'm living overseas at moment but about to head back to Europe where I can once again indulge in online shopping without the guilt of hanging onto crap because returns are so damn complicated and spendy.

AmberNectarine · 13/07/2016 11:05

Thanks everyone - think it went well, who ever knows in these situations? Wore black silk equipment shirt (half tuck), charcoal skinny 7/8 trousers, zebra ponyskin Gucci heels and my Tiffany bone cuff. Smart/casual with a twist of me. I think it worked!

Everyonelovessparkles · 13/07/2016 11:14

Outfit sounds perfect amber. Fingers crossed for you!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/07/2016 11:27

Fingers crossed for you Amber, great outfit!

Hi Flamingo! That must be so annoying, when are you back in Europe? Stick around :)

Wearing my gold lariat today with this dress. I feel like I haven't really got into "summer work clothes" at all this year (sleeveless shirts etc).

FlamingoFling · 13/07/2016 11:56

blair I'll be back in 5 weeks - it's going to be a bit of a watershed moment in terms of clothing as the vast majority of my stuff will go by ship so probably won't see most of my clothes/shoes/bags for 6-8 weeks.

I've probably got the equivalent of four/five suitcases that will be air freighted/come on the plane with me and that'll have to last me until the rest turns up. Shock

KittyHello · 13/07/2016 12:17

Amber outfit sounds great, keeping my fingers crossed you got the job.

My favourite summer purchases have been my JCrew skirts just need more sun so I can wear them again.

Hello and welcome Flamingo

I'm having real footwear dilemmas due to all this rain, been caught out twice already this week wearing flip-flops in a downpour.. Am back wearing trainers but they seem so dull and there's no way I can pull my boots out even though I am seeing a lot of people still wearing boots, not that I blame them mind.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/07/2016 13:06

Wow, I need to jump back in now otherwise I will be writing an essay Grin Oops I think I have.

Shop thanks for your honest post, I am sure it was difficult to write and put up here. I am glad you have shared with DH.

On another note, I might be able to come to a summer MU - will be around the last 2 weeks of August.

I haven't made any glaring shopping mistakes this year - I am wearing this pinafore dress today which I am not sure about, but I think it will come into it's own in AW.

Kitty and QueenC - I have also struggled with wearing chinos, I think they can look a bit utilitarian. I did send the ones you have (from BR) back Kitty - instead I bought these - as I really liked the colour.

Dry well done for your speedy 5k (quite a few pages back) - are you trainging for a 10k?

Blair happy birthday Grin Btw I never had you down as a petrolhead!

Speaking of which, can anyone advise on a small, economical, cheap car with 5 doors??

Amber interview outfit sounds good. So does your new job have something to do with karaoke or have I totally misread the thread??? I really love the zebra equipment shirt you have also, which you are wearing on another thread.

FedUp welcome back. Not holiday reading per se but I have just finished Suite Francaise which is very good. Will check out your recommendations.

Stokey I missed your DH was ill - glad to hear he is back home now and hope his recovery goes smoothly.

Lib where have you got to with your dress? Annoying about the Hush jumpsuit - I second ebaying, it will likely do well there.

Wow Happy that is quite a haul. I like the jumpsuits. And congrats on working for yourself.

One how are you feeling?

Waves to Marsha and Blingy and Justa.

Welcome to Peach and Flamingo

My fave summer purchases have been this Monsoon dress - good for this iffy weather but still feels summery - and also these TS sandals.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/07/2016 13:15

Cross posts as I was typing for hours Grin

Kitty how about plimsolls / skate shoes (whatever they are called) - they seem a bit more summery to me than lace up trainers. Or a more closed leather sandal - like this? Or pointy flats / ballet shoes.

Actually QC I meant to say that I had some French sole ballet shoes a while ago and I really liked them and found them reasonably hardwearing. They come up real small though. Have a shop around as I think you can get them cheaper than RRP - there are some on brand alley at the moment for example, and lots of pretty ones discounted on the Liberty website.

Flamingo if you google project 333 I think you will manage with your restricted wardrobe for 8 weeks. I quite often try a 33 items capsule wardrobe for 3 months and it is not too bad at all.

FlamingoFling · 13/07/2016 13:34

bernice I love reading project 333 but just don't think the reality is for me - I pack 6 pairs of shoes for a long weekend Grin

QC I'm not a massive fan of French Sole I seem to be right between sizes so never get a good fit - plus they are very ballet shoe- like which is kinda the point I know but to the extent you can really see the shape of your toes.

FlamingoFling · 13/07/2016 13:39

I just ordered the hush jumpsuit in the sale - now super worried I'll be channeling the builder look. Absolutely inevitable that it's going to be one of those outfits that only looks good whilst striking weird pose in bedroom mirror

shopafrolic · 13/07/2016 14:51

Welcome Flamingo. Stick around Smile
Just been for a well overdue haircut. Feel so much better.
Thanks again for all the well wishes. Have had texts and emails from people who haven't been on thread for ages which is lovely. You're all wonderfully supportive.
Amber fab outfit, fingers crossed for a positive result. When will you know? More interviews to come?
So MU. Risky but we've done it before on a Bank Holiday weekend. How about Saturday 27th August. If you can make it PM me with the words I'M IN and I'll see how many we have and get something booked. Bernice it would be so lovely if you can join us Smile

HappyGirlNow · 13/07/2016 15:01

queen if you don't mind me asking, what UK dress size are you and what size Gap girlfriend jeans do you buy? I'm thinking about ordering a pair.

blair necklace came - love it Grin ty

maradesbois · 13/07/2016 15:20

Hello Voguettes,

Am checking in briefly from hols, so hot outside had to come in to aircon and have a lie down.

Shop well done for speaking to dh and to him for being nice. I also find it hard no longer earning my own money even though like you have a dh who sees his income as family money and we live well within our means. You'll get yourself back on track, stay on the thread you know its about so much more than spending.

Dry and fedup I've been doing the st tropez shower for the last couple of weeks, once every 2-3 days and think its good. I am v pale but it gives me a light golden glow and looks natural just need to be sure to scrub the palms of your hands and between the fingers well. Half price in boots atm too!

Best summer buy for me was whistles sale linen sundress bought last week. Its a godsend in the heat even though glimpsed in the mirror I looked the size of a small hotel (midi length, flares out from ribcage). Ds was hiding under it is so voluminous. Have so much weight still to lose, lots of my summer stuff doesn't fit but no point worrying about until back home. Also loving using my anya hindmarch straw bag from last summer. Some Sophie Anderson on Outnet with extra 30% off if anyone interested.

Would love to come to late Aug mu but may well be away again that weekend so can't commit. Bernice would love to meet you though.

Flamingo welcome!

maradesbois · 13/07/2016 15:48

Amber yes, fingers crossed for you, interview outfit seemed spot on so am sure that helped your confidence. May need to come to you in the near future for some tips on how to perform well...

Everyonelovessparkles · 13/07/2016 15:48

Nice dress blair, glad you are pleased with your necklace.

kitty have you tried ballet flats? I revert to these on iffy days. I have the Clarks carousel in nude, I find them hard wearing and comfortable. In fact I am wearing them today Grin

mara hope you are having a nice holiday. It sounds promising about the st tropez. I used to use the summer body by garnier but haven't bothered for the last couple of years I can just about manage a shower and hair wash these days with the DC, so fake tan seemed a bit ambitious but maybe it's one for next year.

AmberNectarine · 13/07/2016 15:53

I fly in from Sicily at 6pm on 27 Aug. If it was an evening one I could jump straight on the train from Gatwick and meet you lot, but would be a bit late for lunch!

Thanks for good wishes all - will be a couple of weeks wait, but I wasn't actually looking to leave my current role so I'm quite ambivalent about it all. Would be fab if I get it but not big deal if not!

libertydoddle · 13/07/2016 16:41

27th might be tricky for me Shop, will check out with DH - it's his birthday weekend and I think he was planning to book us a night away somewhere.

KittyHello · 13/07/2016 17:11

Thank you for the summer rain dilemma footwear suggestions. Flowers

Everyone I have some ballet flats but forget to wear them. Must dig them out.

I'll need to speak to dh about Aug MU, we're back from hols but was hoping to perhaps sneak in a weekend away before school kicks off again. Will get back to you soon Shop

Forgot to say BlairI could see you in a colourful Zarita, that dress type suits you.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/07/2016 17:12

I am going to be in France on the 27th :(

Happy glad you like it too! I've been fiddling with mine all day. I always do with necklaces.

My best summer purchase has been my Finery shirt dress, I've worn it on holiday, to a barbecue in Japan, to a wedding reception the other night, and will wear it to a family birthday do later this month. I love it.

Stokey · 13/07/2016 17:18

I think that may be tricky for me too Shop as DM is over from Oz & should probably spend weekends with her! My preference would be for a weekday night between 21st August-5 September, I'm not fussy at all...

Dh is well enough to be left for a bit. Going to the cinema tonight to watch Ab Fab, I may wear the jumpsuit, feels suitably Eddie.

We have a Golf Bernice. They're great little cars and keep their value.

Have a fab holiday Mara

Job outfit sounded great Amber

MarshaBrady · 13/07/2016 19:57

Big wave to Bernice yes it would be lovely to see you x

Welcome Flamingo am sure it will be ace. I was looking at a Marant jumpsuit today thinking about this thread, made me chuckle.

Stokey let us know if Ab Fab is good (do they actually not look any older?!), I keep seeing ads for it on insta

Mara your holiday looks lovely. I can't wait for the heat next week.

And phew I have my first interview lined up, have been feeling tense over it all, but this takes the pressure off massively. Just to know I can get interviews means I can relax a bit, and even consider a break.

Dreamqueen · 13/07/2016 20:03

Well the non shopping lasted all of 24 hours. ive ordered some hol sandals from office for store delivery.

hope interview went ok Amber

Have had a few gins so might not be making sense.
Have read what I've missed on thread but my menopausal brain can't retain it long enough to comment.
August MU sounds fab, I'll try to last longer next time.
