Interview not til Weds - written submission was due today - have just sent it.

Bag seems fine, jeans less so - in the wash at the mo, hopefully they'll survive.

Oh god, that thread .

libertydoddle · 11/07/2016 23:36

Yes, I have the kakhi one Stokey which adds to the mechanic vibe Smile. Black is much more flattering I am sure.

peachlife · 12/07/2016 08:22

Ah yes, sorry Amber - not keeping up properly. Everything crossed jeans survive - I hate it when that stuff happens.

I won't mention 'that thread' anymore!.

Morning everyone - damp and dreary today....but apparently sunnier weather on the way for the weekend?....hope so, planning a family BBQ on Saturday....

Drywhitethanks · 12/07/2016 09:22

Ordered this top not a surprise is it? Been lusting after it for ages. Love a bit of lace me.
Also got some funky tortoise shell Steve Madden, cheapo sunnies from TKMaxx for my hols.

Mistakes? Hmm not too many this season, a few cheap ones.

Am being very last today. Sun is shining here Smile

Drywhitethanks · 12/07/2016 09:24

Peach if you're brave you need to start a thread "I've been left a considerable sum of money by an old aunt. I want to send it in a handbag not a bench which should I buy?" And watch it go NUTS! Smile

shopafrolic · 12/07/2016 10:15

Morning all. So, this is a bit weird but I reckon I should get it out there so that hopefully it helps someone else. Even if just a lurker.
My name is Shopafrolic and I am a shopaholic. Since giving birth to DS and feeling like I had lost my way style wise, this thread and new amazing friends has given me a lot of confidence back. And I started spending. Lots. On credit cards.
Not good. I have basically been shopping as though I still work and get paid a decent salary. But I don't.
We are by no means in difficulty money wise, but the guilt of my shopping meant I didn't tell DH until the debts had ramped up to £5.5k.
Last night (after deciding enough is enough) I confessed all to DH. Who has been amazing, and wonderfully supportive.
I don't want to pull the thread down, but I just wanted to say (particularly to lurkers) that not everyone spends like this. I shouldn't have spent like this - I couldn't afford to. But it is easy to get carried away by pretty things.
So now, the debt is cleared (from my personal savings), I have unsubscribed from loads of shopping emails, and I have hidden Instagram and Facebook to the back of my phone so I choose when I want to look instead of having the red dot prompting me all day long.
Fresh start for me. I hope you'll let me stick around.
Much love Voguettes.

Lots to catch up on!

blair holiday sounds fab. We were upgraded to business on the way home from st Lucia on our honeymoon. DH complained how he had worn the wrong trousers for lying down so couldn't get comfortable Hmm

amber well done on surviving the party and sleep over! Hope the jeans are ok.

peach glad you had a nice night away. We first left DD when she was 9 months and I left my mum 4 sides of A4 of instructions. When we left DS when he was 9months I didn't even bother writing any Grin

I haven't had too many fails this year as a lot of stuff went back. Though two things I was disappointed with were a jersey dress and t'shirt from Hobbs on brand alley. The dress clings a bit to the mum tum making me look pregnant and the t'shirt is just ok. If it had been free returns I would probably have sent them back even though keeping them obviously costs more than the return postage

peachlife · 12/07/2016 10:24

shopafrolic - hug - a big one. For your top notch DH too.

Really kind of you to open up - you might just save someone else similar pain....that someone else might be me!. I will think twice, I really should...I have given up work too now for the time being.

Nothing like a fresh start shop. Hope you are feeling ok. Flowers. xx

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/07/2016 10:33

shop Flowers well done on your brave post. It is easy to get Caught up in spending. Online makes it so easy to just add things to your basket and all those sales and offers emails are so appealing. I also unsubscribed from a few websites as I was getting drawn in buying things I didn't need. I've made a list of everything that I've bought this year and how much it cost. I was quite surprised at how much I'd spent. Maybe we can just indulge in fantasy shopping! Everyone likes looking at nice things, we just need to keep our credit cards hidden!

libertydoddle · 12/07/2016 10:52

Oh shop, I am sorry. Huge hugs for you. I recently had a chat with DH about spending too. We have agreed to have proper chats about finances regularly. I had huge overdraft which I have now cancelled. Again, we don't have money problems but I was turning a blind eye to how much I was spending. Well done on taking control of it. FlowersFlowers

Drywhitethanks · 12/07/2016 10:53

Shop ive got to know you over my 4 years on this thread and you have become a wonderful friend who makes me laugh, gets me drunk and gives me excellent advice. I'm so sorry to hear this. It's so brave of you to put it out there and face up to it at home too. You must NEVER leave this thread because you are part of the MNV foundations. You will get through thus you''ve got through worse. You're an incredibly chic woman and always will be. Big hugs from your friend.xxxxx

shopafrolic · 12/07/2016 11:10

Thank you all. You're making me weep. Just feels good to be honest and start afresh.

Shop you are my friend in real life because you're wonderful and it has jack all to do with your material possessions. So glad you told dh. I knew he would support you. Back later. xxxx

Stokey · 12/07/2016 11:35

Great post Shop Flowers, you are amazing. I think it is so hard to transition from working & earning to being a SAHM, and it feels depressing not being able to spend as freely as you once could. I can totally empathise. Well done for coming clean with DH.

I've just finished my first work in nearly two years - a very boring financial article about Brexit - and am already planning what to buy with the money, & Dh is spending like a nutter to compensate for being at home Hmm. Will try to reign it in.

Thanks for the SE feedback Blair, I have quite narrow feet and the leopardskin strap was a bit loose. I looked at my Gigis and they are actually US6.5, so I've split the difference and gone for 7. Fingers crossed.

KittyHello · 12/07/2016 12:01

Lovely open post Shop Flowers glad you've now got it under control and that your dh is being very understanding, as it's so easy to do. xx

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/07/2016 13:48

Flowers shop, that was really brave of you to tell DH and get it sorted and then write it here. I hope you feel better - don't get upset! No one would ever want you to leave the thread, so don't you dare :)

Dreamqueen · 12/07/2016 14:14

Shop you are very brave and inspiring in your post, and what a great husband you have. I think we've all been in a position where shopping gets out of hand & need to reign it in.

After having my sister staying for a month & a lovely family holiday, I dropped her at the airport this morning. I've sank back into reality. No more Bond St shopping & selfridges lunches until she comes next year is my new mantra. I've put on 5lbs that I need to shift. If I can shift 15lbs, I have a whole wardrobe of mostly unworn clothes.

Anyway, I'm going to settle down with a cup of tea & catch up properly with whats been happening on here in the last month.

I

peachlife · 12/07/2016 14:46

drywhite - I have re-read your post a number of times and am still Confused. So I'm tempted to start the thread simply to clarify what on earth I get back!.

I want to send money from an old Aunt in a handbag? - not a Bench?. This is truly bemusing but I am chuckling already....I have no idea how I would respond to said query.....except to suggest on line banking!.

HappyGirlNow · 12/07/2016 14:48

shop what a brave post and I also wish to stop spending so much. The money isn't a problem but I often spend for the sake of it I think for a quick buzz, when I think of the money I've spent on stuff that I've worn once or never I could cry - I could probably have a small property abroad for that! Anyhow, you'll see the contradiction as you read the rest of this post as I've gone a big bit sales crazy! But I am now intending to tighten the belt and save money towards things that will make a real difference in our lives like a property abroad. I love fashion but I intend to buy much less going forward and really use the vast amount I already have. You're not alone xx

dreamqueen Cake to go with tea and hope you aren't too sad that your sister has gone.

Well done on article stokey!. Hope DH doing ok. Hope my brain creaks into gear in September to reconvene studies.

Baby massively tired, why not baby go to sleep instead of crying eyes out?. Why typed in yoda'esqe voice style?. Not know either of these things.

peachlife · 12/07/2016 14:55

happy - oo enjoyed nosing at your shopping!. Particularly love those French Connection jumpsuits. Sounds like you are going on holiday soon to enjoy them.

Glad working for yourself is going well thus far Smile

libertydoddle · 12/07/2016 15:39

I am wearing sandals.
And a light jacket.
I don't have an umbrella with me.
It is raining like the UK has a monsoon season....
How will I get home??? Sad
And I'm guessing the bloody shed will flood again....

libertydoddle · 12/07/2016 15:41

peach babies are blooming contrary creatures....a walk in the fresh air was the only thing that worked when my DD was that age and crying with tiredness. Flowers for you.

peachlife · 12/07/2016 15:57

This peach baby is certainly contrary - I should have gone for that walk liberty you are quite right....went for a bottle and cuddle instead....it worked until I put her in the cot.....argh!.

My nerves are jangling.

Monsoon?. Whereabouts are you?. A bit drizzley here but was planning a bike ride to restore zen after mini peach is in bed. Won't be going if monsoon ensues!.

Would send you my umbrella if I could - do hope you don't get too soggy.

libertydoddle · 12/07/2016 16:03

I'm in north west London peach. According to the forecast it's only supposed to be drizzling here too. Smile bike ride sounds like a good idea for frazzled nerves.
