elizabethreallyismissing I hit marks yesterday and tried on that khaki dress

It's one of those items that manages to be too big and too clingy at the same time. A pity. It would be v nice if it worked.

Bought this on cos instead. Will be lovely over my white jeans Smile

Tried on a fair bit in marks, best item was this dress but it was huge on the hips and I was too lazy to go get the smaller size plus the dressing room stank

JackandDiane · 26/06/2016 11:27

cos is just the ODDEST clothes - kind of prison camp chic

I can't work out if it's the Cos clothes that are odd or just the way they put them on the mopey models with Amish hair. I don't have enough imagination to think work out how they might look if a smiling person with good posture and without awful trousers was wearing them. I've never seen a real person who looks like those models.

I do love in a field though.

taybert · 26/06/2016 11:31

LIVE
Though I guess it follows that I also love in a field.

Elizabethreallyismissing · 26/06/2016 11:38

Thank you Wilting! I sort of got that impression from the reviews!
I did a Boden sale order yesterday instead so we'll see how that goes!

JohnCheese · 26/06/2016 12:13

I know re Cos, total prisoner cell block H or even One Flew Over but when you find something, it's generally spot on. Had a dress on from a few years ago from Cos. Beautiful young thing followed me to find out where from. Doncha just love that.

Had a hankering for espadrilles since I missed the Zara ones. Bought these stripey look away blue haters blue. Like 'em a lot.

JohnCheese · 26/06/2016 12:14

Strike out fail

SunsetBeetch · 26/06/2016 13:01

I like the silver top Giddy. Could I ask what the material feels like? I might just be weird, but I find metallic clothes to be a bit...sticky(?) and clingy sometimes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/06/2016 15:23

Really like that silver top.

I saw the khaki Autograph dress irl life yesterday. I didn't like it - thought it looked and felt slimy, if that even makes sense!

Tried these on but they were hideous.

Hate those cold shoulder tops.

JackandDiane · 26/06/2016 15:24

i think the top will look terrible on me
Looked nice on the woman on the train yearns

Also tried on this in Mint Velvet. Nice enough, but not nice on me.

wiltingfast · 26/06/2016 15:31

God I buy piles of stuff in cos. PILES Grin what can I say, it looks chic on me Grin

niminypiminy · 26/06/2016 17:12

Waiting for my silver trainers to arrive from Cos - replacing a pair from Schuh that I wore until they wore out.

I um-ed and ah-ed a bit over them - in the three years since I started wearing them they've gone (like blue nail polish) a bit mum boot. But ended up pressing the fuck it button since they were half price.

CointreauVersial · 26/06/2016 18:04

Blue nail varnish a bit "mum boot"? Who knew?

Well, I shall bring down the general tone of this thread by announcing that I was in Peacocks today (killing time while DH browsed ethernet cables in Maplins next door....zzzz). I bought this lace top. Although I shall have to stay away from any naked flames it's actually quite nice for £14 - it has a good weight to it, and looks fine either on or off the shoulders. I reckon I am the Anti-Cos. Feel free to scoff.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/06/2016 18:33

Sings...'I am the anti-Cos. I am an anarchist.'

hippiedays · 26/06/2016 18:42

I'd say half my wardrobe is from Cos. I buy mostly tops as at 5ft 2", I find many of their dresses and tops too long but when I manage to find them, I love them.

Hopefully · 26/06/2016 18:50

De lurking to give three cheers for the shared dislike of cold shoulder tops. Tried on a dress version the other day and looked a total tit.

OTOH I am very pleased with these skinny jeans/trousers (in the mid grey). Good for £14.99.

I am on the lookout for a casual slouchy tshirt dress to wear with a slim hip belt. I basically want this hush dress in a dark green/brown/aubergine/charcoal, if anyone sees anything similar. Tried an H&M one but the waist was too high - I'm quite long bodied. Also don't actually own a slim hip belt, so this outfit is currently entirel hypothetical.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 26/06/2016 18:51

Another huge Cos fan here. Some of my favourite things ever are from there. Loads of pure cotton / silk / wool and not ridiculous prices. Can always find something I like in there. And I'm not skinny and dour like those models either (CV will vouch for that)! Think you have to look beyond the way they style things on the website as a pp said.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/06/2016 18:52

I do quite like some Cos stuff, but you have to sift through a great deal of weirdness to find the good stuff (and most of it too long for me).

Hopefully · 26/06/2016 18:53

Cos is awful on me - I need stuff that goes in at the waist after my ginormous shoulders, otherwise I look like a walking brick, and everything from there seems to be boxy.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 26/06/2016 18:58

Oh and their denim stuff is especially fab...
Am wearing these today and also own this top which is lovely in rl.

Saurus72 · 26/06/2016 19:29

I love Cos, but yes, I agree that for every 20 things I try on, I will find 2-3 that work. But they are so utterly perfect, it's worth it. I've mouth these two dresses this Summer, and worn them to death (I don't wear them buttoned up to the top though):

mouth? FFS. BOUGHT

CointreauVersial · 26/06/2016 19:41

I can vouch for the utter stylishness of GiddyGiddyGoat.

I probably should give Cos another chance. The few times I've ventured in, I've tried on a load of stuff and not liked anything; I've clearly not "sifted" adequately. The one Cos item I did own went on eBay a few months ago because it made me look like a tank.

Hopefully - I do like that Hush dress, but can't think of a similar one on the High Street. H&M would have been my suggestion.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/06/2016 19:59

I have a Cos jumper (several years old) which is one of my v favourite, most worn items. Sadly I've never seen anything similar again. It's a cotton mesh fabric, black, great fit, perfect length. If they did it again I'd buy multiples of it.
