So summer is around the corner probably and we're looking forward to crops, short sleeved tops and flipflops Grin

Come and tell us all about your summer purchases, high street or high end, we love it all.

I've also had mixed experience with Boden shoes - some have been very successful and become staples, others gone straight back

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2016 15:21

Love these gold Rossi for someone, who can do gold? Blingy, Justa?

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2016 15:23

For Lara Erdem

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2016 15:24

Top version for Dry Erdem

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2016 15:28

Marni for Mara Marni

And Rossi flats for QueenC Rossi

LinusLovesBretons · 29/05/2016 16:34

Love those Rossi flats marsha! I prefer his Lorraine ones though as they don't have an ankle strap so are more forgiving on short legs.

That A.P.C. Shirt had gone straight to my wishlist* queenc

Sorry I haven't posted in a while (like marsha the thread had dissapeared from the threads I'm on) but life has been a bit hectic recently, for various reasons.

I will try to read as much as possible!

Drywhitethanks · 29/05/2016 18:37

Marsha I lo that Erdem top

QueenC · 29/05/2016 18:41

Love those shoes marsha-I think I probably already have them on my shoe love pin board.

Another Prosecco fuelled day here. It's sunny and hot too so the recipe for a hangover. Read the sunday papers although times had style missing. Not impressed. Did anyone the telegraph with the 'older' IGers. It featured WIT and DMBL40 and another couple I follow. Apparently we are more likely to buy something that we see on IG than we are if we see a celeb wearing it. I'm not sure that im influenced hugely in that way.

My question for you all is.....have you ever bought something just because you have seen it on a celeb/blog/IG?

MarshaBrady · 29/05/2016 18:58

I don't think I'm close enough to them, I don't follow any blogs or fashion IG and only do pin (so might see a few big bloggers on there).

I am much more influenced by on here of course! It feels much better to know you all, I trust the advice much more.

AmberNectarine · 29/05/2016 19:22

No, I haven't. I have bought things I've seen on blogs, but only because I liked the item and that's how it came to my attention.

Same with celebrities. I recently bought a dress I saw Kendall Jenner wearing. I didn't buy it because I want to be like KJ (it would take more than a dress!), I bought it because I liked the dress and that is how it entered my consciousness.

There is honestly no blogger whose style is that aspirational, to be honest.

AmberNectarine · 29/05/2016 19:23

That being said, when I met WIT, she did look fantastic.

AmberNectarine · 29/05/2016 19:24

I was being very honest there, in the last sentence of my first post!

shopafrolic · 29/05/2016 20:31

The Whistles shirt dress I just bought came to my attention via a blog but I had been looking at Whistles for ages to get a dress to replace my much loved Khaki one so probably would have found it anyway. So same as Amber it was because the blogger wore it and I wanted to look like them, more that they highlighted it was in stock. So yes, blogging works Mr Retailer.

shopafrolic · 29/05/2016 20:32

Just posted that and then saw that SusieSoSo has posted the same dress but I wouldn't have thought twice having seen her post (sorry Susie). Super fab dress though....... Highly recommend.

shopafrolic · 29/05/2016 20:38

In other news, just watching Michael McIntyre on catch up - so pleased to see All Saints back. Used to love their style back in the day and still love it now.

Drywhitethanks · 29/05/2016 21:15

I've bought a few things I've seen on blogs in the past with various degrees of success. Blogs for me are just like mags, if I see something I like I try it. I wouldn't buy something just because it was on a blog if I didn't really love it. Same with Celebs, I often copy a style .

shopafrolic · 29/05/2016 22:50

Sorry Viva yes I bought the Lola (and the Anna). Really fab dress, it is supposed to be loose fitting. I sized down though. The SA said to size down until you get to the lowest size where the pleat still lies flat down the back. It is a really easy dress to wear and I love the pockets.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 30/05/2016 08:31

Hello

Marsha I thought you hadn't posted for a while - good to see you back!

Shop I like that dress and did you buy the one with the tie waist thing (awful description, sorry). I know the one you mean and think it would really suit you

I've got a similar Whistles shirt dress but last season I think - it is midi length not knee length. V useful though.

I agree about Boden shoes - I think they are cut quite narrow. Shame as they are usually leather lined and leather sole, so good quality for the price. Funnily enough I haven't had that problem with the Lille ghillie ones though - I just sized up and they've been fine.

Dry when you said after four hours your feet were in agony, that seemed like good going for me - how long can you normally spend in heels without pain?? I last about an hour!

That's interesting about the blogs. I thought the Telegraph article was worth reading. I did note that WIT used it as a chance to plug wardrobe icons Grin

I read a lot of blogs and I do buy stuff I've seen on them - I guess I would say also that it is because I like it rather than because said blogger is wearing it...but then I also think we are much more influenced by marketing than we realise. A lot of it is subliminal (not necessarily talking about blogs now) and we are much less free agents than we think!

Amber I actually bought something after seeing it on your blog - a Hobbs dress in kind of blue leopard print, knee length with big pockets. I still wear it regularly.

QueenC · 30/05/2016 09:17

bernice I chuckled at the wit/wardrobeicons thing too. It will also be a massive boost in numbers/traffic for all of them (especially as I don't understand how wardrobe icons makes money).
I'm with amber that I don't find any blog very aspirational but like dry I use them like magazines. I do like IG though to just see the pictures rather than having to read all the words. But yes, if i like/buy/check out a link from something on a blog its because I like it and would buy it anyway rather than wanting to look like the blogger. And like shop it's likely that I would have eventually come across the said item myself with the amount of Internet browsing I do!

Dreamqueen · 30/05/2016 11:12

Asos have 20% off everything today. Ive ordered this espadrilles and these brogues

Dreamqueen · 30/05/2016 11:13

these not this! I hate autocorrect especially when it's wrong.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/05/2016 11:21

Wardrobe icons makes money through affiliate links - they want people to click through and buy via the links on their site, that way they get a cut from the retailer. They only ever seem to promote the same few brands on their weekly magazine thing - M&S, J crew, Accessorize plus designers. They do seem to have acquired a proofreader (I tend to binge read the Icons Update a few weeks at a time, so noticed) BUT I've also noticed instances of text practically ripped from retailers websites. (Just had a hunch that some bits weren't written in their usual style)
Examples: From issue 72:
"Treated in a tannery independently assessed by The Leather Working Group, you know the leather in this Livia Firth for M&S bag has been responsibly made."
From M&S website:
"The leather in this bag has been treated in a tannery that's independently assessed by The Leather Working Group, so you know it's been responsibly made."
Hmm
And from the same feature:
"This ARTISAN piece includes intricate hand-embellishment and is part of Monsoon’s commitment to sustain hand-craft and livelihoods in India."
From the Monsoon website:
"This ARTISAN piece includes intricate hand-embellishment. This technique gives our garments a unique look, and helps to sustain a traditional craft carried out by skilled artisans across India."

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/05/2016 11:25

And with that rant over... I hope everyone has a lovely BH Monday Smile

Dream I'm going to have to sit on my hands with that asos code!

Getting my Zara jacket later, as we're going to meet my mum and siblings and other halves for a pub lunch. Can't wait to give them presents from Japan Grin just a shame it's not such nice weather today.

OOTD is skinnies, stans, new Ted Baker jacket and an old top from Zara.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 30/05/2016 11:36

was at my friends wedding yesterday, that's my events quota for the year then Grin realised last minute that dp and i were in matching colours but it was too late so we had to go with it #couplegoals Grin

AmberNectarine · 30/05/2016 12:09

Bernice I still have that Hobbs dress. I wear it to work when I can't be arsed with my bodycon numbers!
