WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Jan to half term, WEEK TWO

Welcome to week 2 everyone (or week 1 for some who didn't start last week)

For those of you who don't remember the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, this is week 2.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • NEW RULE, HAND CREAM!
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Ok, I've done pretty well apart from drinking last night but I am feeling highly motivated and I have kept it up for six days now (excepting the drinking on Sat) so welcome all members old and new.

I have been reading loads of womens mags this weekend btw and ALL the looking younger/feeling better advice is as above, I AM pleased!

If you've been doing well, here's a gold star

And if you haven't been doing so well, here's a badge for you

what happened to the lots of shagging rule?

I have so much sun damage, I am just going to give in and wait until my face is one large sunspot. I do wear spF daily but this sun is quite an adversary

I am alarmingly heavy atm, 11st 4. I need to get to 10st 11 to feel happy.

winnie · 08/01/2007 08:09

goodmorning everyone

I am feeling pleased with myself as I have lost 4lbs this week (although I do have a habit of doing this and then bowing out before the six weeks is up - so there is a challenge).

The pampering & protecting skin, limiting alcohol & coffee consumption is going very well so this week I shall concentrate on drinking more water and walking

Good luck everyone

My badge looks great

Morning all!

Day 1 for me and I went to the GYM!!! For the first time in a year. Along with the rest of Sydney. The guy at the desk was overrun by people coming in with the old-fashioned passes that have clearly been phased out months ago. I felt like such a fraud.

Anyway, starting from breakfast:

Apple & Banana for breakfast
Chicken with small amount of pasta, sweetcorn peas & carrots for lunch. Left half 'am consciously eating and realising when I am full'
Grapes and mango when I got home from work
2 slices wholemeal bread and a poached egg for dinner

No wine, two cups of tea, 3L water.

I did sunscreen, full body moisturise, avocado oil on face Avocado Oil and a bit of exfoliation.

At the gym I did stepping and cycling and in fat-burning mode used up 200 calories.

The evening is stretching and is looooooong without a glass of wine. I will resist though. It's nicer as a treat.

Is it bedtime yet?

yoyo · 08/01/2007 10:08

So today's the day I embrace this properly (which means no nibbles or alcohol or a cube of choc with my coffee).

Off to a good start with breakfast and walked children to school. Am about to hoover the house from top-to-bottom and then back to school to collect DS.

All unguents duly applied and am aiming for an early night tonight too.

Off for some water now.

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2007 18:03

Quickly:

granola
blueberries
raspberries
apple
lentils with capers
apple
2 pieces wholemeal toast with marmite
lots of water
30 mins walking at lunchtime WITH sunscreen
not great on the sleep last night as we went to bed at midnight and didn't wake up til 7am, so only 7 hours
but NO crap, despite cakes etc hanging about at work
and no booze last night or this

my skirt is looser already, it's good

glad you liked the badge batters! And you Snafu Well done Arfy, wow, the gym hey?

Suze, 11 4 is not terrible but sympathy on battle with the sun

Wow winnie, 4lbs is great! yoyo, how did you do?

I thought of you all as a ambled around Milton Keynes in the rain at lunchtime and it doesn't actually hurt to walk anymore so that's a relief.

And tonight we're having prawns with noodles. Bte, this month's Olive magazine has a nice feel good suppers booklet with it. It's small enough to go in a handbag and there are some nice low fat, low GI, superfood recipes in it.

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2007 18:05

Btw, not bte.

iota · 08/01/2007 18:07

hmmm well I did some walking on the school run......

and that's about it

haven't eaten any crap though and only had wine on Fri and Sat

dinny · 08/01/2007 18:11

right, I'm joining you, WWW, as suddenly feel I am ageing rapidly!

what are the rules on caffeine consumption? zilch?

I have been alcohol-free since 28th December and am LOVING it, skin is amazingly lovely.

also, when you apply foot cream, do you put socks on after? God, what a profound question!

yoyo · 08/01/2007 19:46

Doing very well today but the day is never really a problem for me it is the night when I flop after finally getting the children to bed.

I am going to have a long soak now then slap on the creams! The Dr Weil face serum is fantastic - my skin is lovely and soft and the redness (inherited) is so much better.

Think I have ticked all the boxes today - just need to get past the witching hour and ER without a glass of red.

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2007 20:13

Yes, I do put socks on after my foot cream.
And you can have coffee. Although I read at the weekend that coffee and insulin blah blah but I don't care, I can't give that up as well as everything else.

Just had noodles, prawns, peppers, green beans and peas for supper. I used some olive oil and sesame oil when cooking it but that's ok I reckon. Hard day at work and I'm back to looking crap. Oh well. Onwards!

Sticker for me for last week. Will try harder

mrsmalumbas · 08/01/2007 20:51

Hi - can I join in pretty please? I'm 40 this year and feel more like 50. Too fat. Too tired. Too dry!! My shins are like paper, ditto my hands.

Have given up booze for at least the whole of Jan along with DH and my basic diet is good, lots of fruit and veg, wholegrains etc but I am still snacking on too many sweet things which I think sap my energy but I am a bit of a bored/emotional eater. Need to work on why. I do feel at least a bit less bloated than I did a week ago but am not drinking nearly enough water and am not getting any exercise. I find it hard to know what to do - I live in the country so in theory could go for lots of walks but at the monent it is too wet and muddy and dark by the time I could go. Can't afford the gym. Home exercise videos maybe??

My resolution for tomorrow is to go for a walk!

A question for you all - I am going a bit grey, about 15% grey I reckon, I think it gives me a sort of vaguely tired look as the grey hairs are less shiny and bouncy than the natural brown ones. So do I dye it and resign myself to a lifetime of chemical use, or let it go gracefully?

Thanks for listening! Onward and upward!

CAMy · 08/01/2007 20:52

I had some alcohol yesterday but did do half-an-hour workout. Today no alcohol and a little walking. Food: only fruit and one cup of Italian real coffee for breakfast;salad with prawns at lunch and water, water to drink. Supper: roast chicken cooked by dh with potatoes but lots of carrots and green bits.

Tonight: water.

Am also wearing the badge for last week.

iota · 08/01/2007 21:12

mrs malumbas - have lowlights rather than a full all over dye - it blends in a lots of the grey and regrowth isn't such a problem

prufrock · 08/01/2007 21:54

Hang on - so lots of sex rule is replaced with "use handcream" Dh is going to be very upset.

Managed to do yoga again on Sunday night - so that means 4x45 minute sessions last week.

Today.

Muesli, skimmed milk for breakfast
Pitta stuffed with lettuce, cucumber and taramasalata for lunch
Only ate a small one of the chicken patties I made for kids tea (and they were only chicken, apple, flour, egg and breadcrumbs)
Lots of strawberries
Sea bass (roasted with tiny bit of oil) and green salad for dinner
Lots of water/orange juice.

Took dog for 30 minute walk but actually jogged soem of it (was getting late to pick up ds)
Will now go upstairs and have shower with body scrub followed by lots of creaming, and a camomile tea.

(But I've put on 3 lbs since Tuesday how can that be!)

WideWebWitch · 08/01/2007 21:59

lol Prufrock. um, yes, sorry, I read the rules last night when I posted and thought hmm, that sex rule might be putting people off and I can't exactly order people about about their sex lives can I, it's not the same as saying "DRINK WATER!" or something.

So, er, have lots of sex if it makes you happy.

Mrs M, dye it. Grey hair is VERY ageing imo. And can't you walk in the daytime at all?

swedishmum · 08/01/2007 22:01

I've been keeping off wheat - I do feel better - and found myself drooling over the lovely loaves at Tesco today. Hate myself though because I stole some skin off the roast chicken. Can't do anything about it now. Had no sleep as all 4 kids have a stomach bug, dh abroad, and dd2 has 11 plus tomorrow. Thank goodness for caffeine!

unknownrebelbang · 08/01/2007 22:05

No booze.
Walking - 30 mins exercise bike instead.
Lots of water.
NEW RULE, HAND CREAM! this one's easy, lol.
Go to bed early, by 10.30pm - maybe 11.
Eat healthily - ish.
Be happy - I try!

Dinosaur · 08/01/2007 22:08

No alcohol last night or tonight.

Remembered heel cream last night but forgot body cream.

Have been eating fruit and veg and drinking lots of water, and cannot understand why terribly constipated (sorry, tmi) .

Walked into City from Bethnal Green tube this morning.

No alcohol for me either - lots of dandilion tea. Also BOUGHT A NEW BRA IN THE M&S SALE AND FEEL LIKE A NEW WOMAN!

(Did you know they have stopped measuring for cup sizes as people have complained about their boobs being touched?? How mad is that??!!)
