WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Jan to half term, WEEK TWO

WideWebWitch · 07/01/2007 22:59

Welcome to week 2 everyone (or week 1 for some who didn't start last week)

For those of you who don't remember the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, this is week 2.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • NEW RULE, HAND CREAM!
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Ok, I've done pretty well apart from drinking last night but I am feeling highly motivated and I have kept it up for six days now (excepting the drinking on Sat) so welcome all members old and new.

I have been reading loads of womens mags this weekend btw and ALL the looking younger/feeling better advice is as above, I AM pleased!

If you've been doing well, here's a gold star

And if you haven't been doing so well, here's a badge for you

Good day for me

granola
grapes
apple
salmon, crab, prawn and spinach roll (400 cal)
another apple
prob not as much water as usual but prob managed 1.5 litres
and tonight dh wants a takeaway so I have ordered half tandoori chicken and won't have anything else
walked for half an hour at lunchtime WITH sunscreen on
have cream on my heels now and have taken my make up off
no body cream, but never mind, may do tomorrow
no handcream either
and I have a glass of Pouilly Fume in front of me. Sod it, haven't started the nasty tablets yet (may leave it a few weeks) so I can drink at the weekend. And we have Desperate Housewives to watch so I am very happy

Well done on the walking Dino and good news about the skin Snafu - I have ONE spot but other than that my skin's lookign better too. Batters, but it's good for happiness so it's ok! Arfy, you are being good, well done.

Having a good day. Food very healthy, loads of fruit for snacks, not enough water (about to rectify), fair bit of walking, body scrub and loads of oil this morning. Actually feel terrible - no energy at all.

swedishmum · 12/01/2007 22:19

The water's definitely starting to work. Skin much better. Mind you, it could be the lack of alcohol...
Have had my hair cut for the first time in over 3 years and bought new clothes. Lost a good few pounds recently. I'm really taking this on board as a life change. Even applied for 1st job in years last week (offered it but turned it down) so overall feeling good!

winnie · 13/01/2007 08:54

I am ok.
I'm feeling better physically despite the blip mid week. Skin is brighter. My water intake is still not enough (prob 1ltre a day) and exercise isn't enough but am consuming loads of fruit and veg and creaming and using sunscreen. Alcohol intake is very low but back in the office and coffee intake has gone back up (must take herbal tea in) I am thinking about getting hair cut & going to cinema this weekend for happiness sake
Bought myself new clothes for work yesterday (However the full length mirrors in the changing room reinforced my need to do this... I have a long way to go
) May buy myself a full length mirror I think it may be the best dieting aid

good luck everyone

SnafuOutOfHiding · 13/01/2007 10:13

So far this morning - two cups of green tea and am just about to have plain (organic) yoghurt with honey and blueberries.

Didn't drink a thing last night except water and ate healthful seaweed and raw fish.

It is quite an education being stone-cold sober in the centre of London on a Friday night... I really like not drinking, actually

WideWebWitch · 13/01/2007 11:10

Snafu, I'm coming to that conclusion too. I didn't drink that much last night but I still feel fuzzy compared to how I have been feeling. I do like being stone cold sober during the week. And going to bed reasonably early wih a book has been lovely too.

Granola and an apple so far for me today.
Have tandoori chicken, 3 chapatis and some potatoes and beans last night. Crap nights sleep because I woke at 3am and didn't manage to go back to sleep til 4 but at least dd didn't wake until 7.40am, lovely, so I reckon I had 6 hours odd

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 13/01/2007 11:11

HAD tandoori etc last night, not Have, dur

CAMy · 13/01/2007 11:11

I had fresh pineapple for breakfast, half a glass of orange juice and my ground Italian coffee. Yesterday afternoon I did half an hour aerobics. Today will be harder as dh at home and dd is having a friend to play after Saturday morning school, so will have to do a substantial lunch.

Will go for a walk to look at the sea later though.

SnafuOutOfHiding · 13/01/2007 11:25

And you know, I saved so much money by not drinking. Free green tea in the restaurant. No over-priced wine or g&t in a pub. And - best of all - no shelling out £15 for a taxi home from the station. I drove home!

Right, I'm going tos hower and go for a walk. With sunscreen on, even though it's almost raining...

winnie · 13/01/2007 11:57

www, following your suggestion I have (mostly) been going to bed early with a book too and it has been lovely.

WideWebWitch · 13/01/2007 18:29

Oh yes, again I am an example to you all!

body lotion, TICK
foot cream, TICK
hand cream, TICK
Sunscreen, TICK
walked for 30 minutes, TICK (very pleased that I made myself do this on a Sat)
Slept plenty, TICK, went back to bed 12-3pm
happy, TICK
Not eaten any crap, TICK

BUT I am going to drink tonight, have bought Cava and Chablis.

still not really kicked my arse into gear on this.

my house has been swarming with tradesmen for the last couple of weeks and more to come next week ( having the kitchen ripped out and redone)

We had a nice family walk today though - probably burnt off about a quarter of the calories that I consumed last night in a yummy but fattening take-away curry.

I have both a glass of water and a glass of wine on the go at the mo

SnafuOutOfHiding · 13/01/2007 19:19

Can I mention flossing?

I know, I know, tmi perhaps but if you lot are anything like me you probably don't do it regularly enough and it is Quite Important, for one's all-round health as well as just nice clean teeth. (Not sure it adds much to the happiness quotient, though...)

No booze tonight, although will be eaten calorie-laden curry. But have had so much fruit today I reckon I deserve a break

motherinferior · 13/01/2007 19:26

Just nipping in to say I really, really want a drink and I so must not, as January is hard enough for me without booze... please keep me on this path!

WideWebWitch · 13/01/2007 19:55

Weeeeeeeeell MI, I am advocating not drinking at all in the week (which I have stuck to 100%) and drinking on Friday and/or Saturday. I will fail, I think, if I deny myself completely.

Drank far too much wine last night, feel shite. 3 pieces of toast today so far. AND I ate 2 pieces of hot buttered toast last night.

Never mind, will start again today.
I don't floss, have put off going to the dentist for years, must go at some point. What's teepee?

Well, I stayed on the wagon. Although I note Waitrose sells frozen cranberries. I cannot help wondering about how these would be, whizzed up with vodka...?

On the other hand I am anticipating a large lunch including roast somethingorother (DP's doing it) and chocolate pudding.

Btw, Batters, I am going to suggest a toast to Maude when we all make it to meet soon.

WideWebWitch · 14/01/2007 12:21

Oi, this 'meet' you speak of, am I invited?

God, pizza , sounds lovely.

I've had a rubbish day:

3 pieces of toast with olive spread and marmite
Puy lentils with capers but more than I'd normally have
an apple
some grapes
6 Roses chocolates that I didn't know we had but dd knew about "They're here mummy!"
no walking
not enough water
used sunscreen when we went out to get a paper but big deal
having veg biryani for supper
and will have an early night, definitely
No cream other than face moisturiser

Will start another thread tonight though for week 3 and we can all be shiny and new and virtuous on that.

motherinferior · 14/01/2007 17:41

WWW, that isn't quite in the roast lamb, sausage and chocolate pudding and ice cream class (just to give a very random example of what perchance might have been consumed in the Inferiority Complex today)...

Am finding self quite consumed with thoughts of exciting fruits to add to vodka and/or fizzy wine I have to say.

iota · 14/01/2007 17:41

It's been a good day for me today

a good night's sleep and lie in to 9am
melon and yoghurt for breakfast
a long uphill walk to Ivinghoe Beacon
lunch at Wagamamas - and I left lots of the noodles
roast pork tonight though, so maybe not so good then

iota · 14/01/2007 17:44

forgot

sunscreen tick

big glass of water on the go as I type
