WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Jan to half term, WEEK TWO

Welcome to week 2 everyone (or week 1 for some who didn't start last week)

For those of you who don't remember the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, this is week 2.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • NEW RULE, HAND CREAM!
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Ok, I've done pretty well apart from drinking last night but I am feeling highly motivated and I have kept it up for six days now (excepting the drinking on Sat) so welcome all members old and new.

I have been reading loads of womens mags this weekend btw and ALL the looking younger/feeling better advice is as above, I AM pleased!

If you've been doing well, here's a gold star

And if you haven't been doing so well, here's a badge for you

Can i share my top - if rather expensive - skin care tip?

Dermalogica daily microfoliant . It works even on sensitive skin and is really easy to use - just rub it all over your face in the shower. I have seen such a difference in the brightness of my skin since using it, and it makes you feel like you have done something goo every time you use it.

arfishy · 09/01/2007 10:52

Rightio, end of the day for me.

Rockmelon for breakfast
Light crackerbread with light philly for snack (or morning tea as they sweetly call it here)
2 slices wholemeal bread with one poached egg for lunch
A handful of DD's vegetable crisps in the afternoon & 3 rice cakes.
2 Tortillas with a smear of avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper and some skinless roasted chicken breast for dinner

3L of water, no booze, sunscreen/avocado oil/clarins body lotion including hands and nails. Will do hooves at bedtime.

Went to the gym again and despite being a)bored catatonic after 5 minutes and b) close to collapse with flashing red lights warning me about my heart rate I did another 200 calories worth of stepping, biking and rowing. I finally realised that the calorie meter goes faster if you are sweating. Damn them and their cheat-proof systems.

arfishy · 09/01/2007 10:58

Looks good Prufrock, verrrry good. I think it might have to be mine, after all, this year I have achieved 50% more visits to the gym than last year already!

How much?

prufrock · 09/01/2007 12:17

I pay about £28 think in my local salon, but you can get it cheaper on't'internet. And it lasts for ages.

Well, I'm having a rather slow start to this. Have incorporated hand cream, body cream, sun cream and heel cream into my routine but am falling down miserably on everything else.

D- must try harder.

winnie · 09/01/2007 14:11

It is all going well for me. I got up at 6.30 and exercised today

Onwards and upwards everyone

Monkeytrousers · 09/01/2007 17:14

Tip - look on ebay for dermalogica stuff

I'm doing okay.

Porrage and cranberries for breakfast - cup of green tea

Olive roll with quorn amd tomatoes (and a bag of crisps - curse DP!) Lots of dnadilion tea

Just had a bowl of home made tikka masala, no rice though - I have to eat dinner early as I just feel uncomfortable all night otherwise.

I found I was feeling a bit brighter today. I have been going cold turkey coming off ad's and after a bit of a dodgy week seem to have emerged from the cycle of self loathing and comfort eating, thank the lord!

My biggest rule is going to be to stop eating when I am comfortably full, not stuffed like a pepper!

My main

WideWebWitch · 09/01/2007 18:09

A middling day for me

Granola for breakfast
prob managed 2l water
no exercise as I was in meetings all morning and through lunch
smoked salmon sandwich for lunch
hazelnut and sultana bar
an apple
and we're having sausages, sweet potato mash and peas for supper

no cream as we all woke at 7.20am and have to leave at 7.50 and no sunscreen.

And I slept REALLY badly last night, was awake and couldn't sleep at 4.30am and finally collapsed on the sofa about 5am. So intend to be in bed by 9pm tonight.

No booze though, so apart from Saturday when I drank wine (hmmm, quite a bit of it) this is day 8 of not drinking. There are redundancy rumours at work and it's VERY tempting to drink tonight but I will resist and have an early night instead.

so hard not to automatically reach for the vino, isn't it?

had crap day - both dd and ds under weather and very hard work, so have just had a cheese toastie and Ripple bar for tea. Healthy - NOT! Kids had sausage and mash and peas that they just stared at

off to yoga tonight though, that'll sort me out!

unknownrebelbang · 09/01/2007 19:22

I stayed up too late last night, and discovered a choc orange which I thought DH had already eaten....

Today:

No booze.
Walking - 30 mins exercise bike instead.
Lots of water.
Eat healthily - ish.
Be happy - I try!

I WILL be in bed by 10 - if only to watch Shameless, so at least no late night snacks.

Dinosaur · 09/01/2007 20:49

Right, my constipation has been replaced by the skits now .

Anyway - a good day for me - no bread, no alcohol, lots of fruit and veg, lots of water. Not much exercise though and DH has gone out so there's not even that option . Going to have nice exfoliating shower shortly.

Why is my face so zitty? I look like a blinking teenager (well, in that respect only).

WideWebWitch · 09/01/2007 20:58

I have an enormous spot on the end of my nose, I think it's a reaction.

OP posts:
Dinosaur · 09/01/2007 20:59

All that badness has to come out somewhere, as my mum used to say...

Emzickle · 09/01/2007 22:38

right - well ive only just seen this, but after reading the first post in this thread i feel rather smug.

i am norm in bed by 10.30 / 11.. i wear cun cream ALL year already, i drink 10 pints of water a day and i go for two walks a day of two miles each, ... yay... so in about 6 weeks, i should look like a ten year old yea?

sunnywong · 09/01/2007 23:12

I'm still fat, what's the deal with that?

marthamoo · 09/01/2007 23:13

I've done two days. It sucks. I had to go to bed at about 9pm last night as I was so tired and grumpy and kept picking fights with dh.

winnie · 10/01/2007 07:58

Despite not being able to get out of bed this morning I am feeling much better just over a week into this. My skin is clearer and I have enough energy to do things in the evening (rather than simply collapse). The increase in fruit and veg is filling me up so I am not snacking on crap and I am feeling more positive. My jeans are feeling a bit baggy around my backside so that has to be a good sign.

Still need to drink more water & be more focused about exercise.

I've been doing everything, eating super healthy, just been to the gym for an hour etc etc etc, well I've still been drinking 4nights out of 7, but why WHY WHY do I still have a ring of flabbly blubber around my mid section? WHY??? WHEN will it recede or is this it for the rest of my life, hmmmmm?

Zog · 10/01/2007 10:17

Went out and bought granola and had it for breakfast - not bad!

My major downfall foodwise is the time between 4 and 7 where I just pick on rubbish and the kids' leftovers. Apart from willpower (I don't have any), can anyone suggest anything good that I could snack on instead?

Also, my nose and the are round my nose is quite red and I remember catching part of one of these transform yourself type programmes where they gave the cause of it and what you could do about it. Does anyone know?

Zog · 10/01/2007 10:17

sorry, the area round my nose

mrsmalumbas · 10/01/2007 12:14

Ok ladies well the grey hair has now gone courtesy of Clairol - can't stretch to lowlights at the moment. Can't decide if I look younger or like cruella de ville.

Doing well on the various unguents, but not so good on the alcohol - several beers last night due to a visit from an old friend, but DH and I back on the wagon tonight. Also taking copious amounts of vitamins including cod liver and flax seed oil for the old Omega whatsits.

Have ordered some new walking shoes from Cotton Traders (cheap and cheerful) to help me motivate myself for country walks - wellies are okay for short strolls but I can't really build up a head of steam in them!

Have also dug out my Pilates DVD but not yet actually done it - still, you've got to start somewhere!

mrsmalumbas · 10/01/2007 12:16

Zog - how about nuts e.g almonds, cashews - good for vit E? carrot sticks and hoummous? rice crackers? fruit? homemade veg soup (I make big vats of it and keep in the fridge). I also find this my downfall and tend to eat huge slices of buttered toast but I do find if I can manage to eat something healthy first it lessens the urge.

Dinosaur · 10/01/2007 12:28

sunnywong - "ring of flabby blubber" - have you been spying on me???

Mine wobbles when I run upstairs, blugh.
