Come and chat about fashion, make up and anything glittery and frivolous. We'll take your bad hair day seriously and you never have to apologise for a new bag Grin

And if you happen to know where I can find comfortable but stylish trainers in kakhi or dark brown you are particularly welcome (Blatant abuse of thread setting up privileges) Wink

Fantastic Linus, be lovely to see you again.

Dream pettys definitely come up small and they're quite narrow. I didn't size up with mine and they're too tight. I've given up trying to wear them in Sad

Love the silver slipons SoYo - very similar to Vans

Karcheer that's a lovely dress - a good alternative to plain black. When is the funeral?

Lara I love the style and colour of the SM dress especially the sleeves. Have you tried it on?

I prefer my trainers to be box fresh but am not very good as keeping them that way! The white wedge on my Dune flatforms is looking decidedly grubby already unfortunately.

justasecond · 11/04/2016 21:15

its only monday and I'm knackered already. Dcs back at school and I'm back at work.
Lara very nice dress the sleeves and neckline stop it looking too much. Its a pretty colour but would terrible with my colouring.
Look forward to meeting you Linus it will be my first mu!
Great shopping soyo I like the silver slip ons too.
Hope you feel better soon queenc sounds awful.
Blair Happy Anniversary!
I prefer the worn in look for trainers but stan smiths look better white.
Karcheer thats a lovely dress. Hope and your dh are doing ok.
forgot to say love the reiss blazer dry a good find.
dream as others have said the pettys come up narrow but I think they are tts.
Off to watch Marcella.

Drywhitethanks · 11/04/2016 22:07

YEY Linus that's great news, can't wait to see you again. Think I get in early this time leaving at some ungodly hour

Mara guess how I like my trainers?....... I attack my SS with CIF regularly, come up a treat.

My poor camel coat is looking exhausted...time to send it to the cleaners. Loving the warmer weather.

libertydoddle · 11/04/2016 22:39

Linus so pleased you are coming!!! Can't wait to see you again.

Lara love the shape of the dress. You could definitely wear it. I agree with QueenC though that it looks tricky to wear.

SoyYo great dresses especially the White Company one. I bought a lace navy dress from Boden last year and wore it a lot on holidays. I love those Clark's trainers.

Larastheme · 11/04/2016 22:43

Thanks for the feedback, I've tried the dress on, but sadly didnt take any photos for proper verdict, it looks very sporty and fresh, I was wearing chanel slingbacks, and loved how the whole thing looked, and I did try a stella M trainers horrible overpriced plasticky thing and looked great, not very short can wear it in a couple of weeks time, but not for warmer weather like holiday in med for example, , its a Lot of money for casual dress, and would only buy if a code comes along, I've only bought two items so far jacket and track pants , Shock and nothing else has caught my eyes, except this dress and the marant wrap dress,

Dreamqueen · 12/04/2016 06:46

I've ordered the Pettys in 4 & 5 to try on. they're free delivery & returns & reduced to £79 at the moment. I hope they fit.

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 08:30

Thank you for the replies and vote of confidence on the silver slipons Flowers glad my trainer search is over Smile as I cannot get excited about plimsole shoes but I did need 1 pair in my wardrobe!

libertydoddle · 12/04/2016 08:36

dreamqueen I love my Petty boots. I find them really comfortable and versatile. That's a great price for them.

Morning!

SoyYo I forgot to say yesterday that I also like the silver trainers.

lara any news on your search for a black tie event dress?

I am wearing my trainers again today, this time with my man repeller jeans and I really like the look. The jeans are a bit too big in the waist though so I will have to find a belt or braces that will keep them up.

I am actually going to go to a special cobbler tomorrow who has a vast array of Colonil products, to see if he has a special protective spray for trainers.

Thanks for the MU enthousiasm! It will have been two years since my last MU and 1.5 years since my last visit to London. Shock

Better start compiling a shopping list per shopping area.....

AmberNectarine · 12/04/2016 10:29

Is the MU a daytime one? If so I may not be able to make it - DH has arranged some sort of family picnic with his 55 cousins!

Drywhitethanks · 12/04/2016 10:39

2years LinusShock
After Cif apply a shoe cream to keep leather supple.
Amber that's a shame but how big is your DH's family !!!

QueenC · 12/04/2016 10:56

Mu is daytime/evening. I think I get in about 10.30, quick shop and then ready to meet at 12. Train back is about 8 but Londoners carry on partying into the night. Will be so great to see you again linus and meet you justa. I guess at some point I should get somewhere booked. Everyone happy with the usual or got any other ideas?

Ive taken today off sick as still not completely right. The cold has settled but getting v bad stomach cramps every time I eat.

AmberNectarine · 12/04/2016 11:15

55 probably an exaggeration but he's Irish in origin so there are a fair few!

I will try and get out of it...

KittyHello · 12/04/2016 14:27

Am looking forward to the MU, will be great to meet those of you who I didn't meet at the one and only time I've attended. Justa I've only been to one before so I'm pretty much a MU newbie.Wink

Lara dress sounds and looks great

Queen hope you start to feel better soon

Dream glad you managed to get hold of some Pettys, that's a great price and I have to say they are a favourite of mine, I have tan suede and I wear them a lot.

Today I'm channelling the double denim look à la Linus and no I'm not a single white female Grin I'm wearing tan trainers with mine.

FedupNagging · 12/04/2016 15:53

Stans have arrived - will try on later and report back.

Dream pm

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 20:23

Good evening! I'm so flattered you liked my buys Flowers
I'm all over the place in that I get bored easily so don't stick to a style which is why I'm a bit meh about having HOC consultation and then ending up feeling "hemmed in" by a colour palette. But thinking it might be fun to find out!

Anyway trainers not my forte so really appreciated feedback on silver Clarks and ultimately the deciding factor is they are super comfortable and I like their silvery vibeWink. Thank you again!

The only other area im not comfortable with is handbags, in that I balk at paying £££ for one and not remotely excited by IT bags (sorry!) but anyway I popped into TKK Max looking for French soap and came away with handbags too! Spotted some I really liked at bargain prices but mostly because I really liked the feel of the leather and styles...i think I may have ended up with a designer one by accident rather than design. Anyone heard of Paul Costelloe bags?
www.paulcostelloebags.com/?product=the-musas-2 in bright Cobalt Blue and I thought they were lying about the RRP but not according to the webpage...payed £44.99!
The French Marseilles and finelly milled Scottish lavender soaps are marvellous too! Blush

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 20:42

I think I was lucky to spot it in the Norwich shop and I really like its got no labels other than a tiny badge and the cobalt blue colour is lovely, cant see it in the TkMaxx website and don't really like any of their other P.Costelloe bags but this one is just lovely for the summer, also found a rather nice cross body tan leather Kew bag (super bargain too) but cannot link as not in their website either.
shop if you visit Norwich with DH never mind Jarrolds head straight for their TK Maxx! I never go there unless looking for aforementioned soaps but might make it a more regular jaunt in future..

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 20:46

I also popped in H&M as everyone raves about it on MN but hated everything in it and the smell of the place, I don't think I have patience to look for the "hidden gem" amongst the jumble rails...am I the only woman who feels like that? Couldn't wait to get out of the place! Confused

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 20:55

Dry interesting Ciff tip! Will try as leather Clarks will definitely need something to keep them sparkling and assume one cannot chuck leather trainers in washing machine.. Or can I?
And do you use on leather or soles only?? Hmm

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 21:01

Doh sorry Dry I just saw you did explain to Linus sorry! Still interested in how to keep leather trainers clean/looking good so grateful for any other tips!

FedupNagging · 12/04/2016 21:21

Lovely bag SoYo and I love the colour. I quite often see that brand in our local TK but didn't realise the original prices were £200 ish.

Am loving the new stans so definitely keeping. I think that's it for flats/pumps/trainers now, I really don't need any more looks wistfully at the silver superga's that havn't quite made it into my wardrobe

AmberNectarine · 12/04/2016 21:43

I love TK Maxx - my Herve Leger dress (which will get its inaugural wear on Friday for DH's birthday - having shoe dilemma) was sub £200! Have been ogling them in Selfridges at £1500+

Am watching Muse at the o2. Really not my bag but DH loves them. Wear the Topshop spray on trousers, grey Topshop cropped vest and nude whistles mules. Louis Vuitton clutch and burgundy whistles biker to accessorise. Had balayage and haircut over past few days. Feel quite swishy!

SoyYo · 12/04/2016 22:17

Indeed Amber I remember you linking to that fab dress! How lucky was that??

Fedup if its any consolation I returned Silver superga to White Company because the sizes just didn't fit me right, I did like them very much and with 20% discount were only £40 so if I get any new discount vouchers I let you know, I know the Superga online shop also stocks them in half sizes which is what I probably needed but couldn't be bothered to pursue further anyway I'm very happy with slip on alternative from Clarks, no faffing around with laces! Hope that makes you feel like you're not missing out!
Yeay to cobalt blue P.Costelloe I just love its simplicity and the one I got was good soft quality leather (you know I have leather obsession with all those Muubaas). Pleased the Stans are perfect for you!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/04/2016 00:02

hello all

amber your outfit sounds awesome as always

queenC i hope you feel better soon Thanks

good shopping soyo the bag is lovely, a really nice shade of blue

i have found my perfect everyday jeans! high waisted ones from primark of all places. they fit like a dream and look good too. I have them in mid blue, black and light grey and im going to go back for the dark blue and the darker grey as well. As an added bonus, i am now wearing a size TWO sizes smaller than i was this time last year in jeans. Jeans have always been funny on me, and i've always been bigger sizes in them than skirts and dresses but i seem to be evening out a bit now but im thrilled ive dropped those two extra sizes. long way to go yet but its still amazing to me

Dreamqueen · 13/04/2016 06:55

Great bag Soyo & lovely colour.

Amber I love the sound of your outfit. Muse is not my cup of tea either.

Fedup I'm going to collect Pettys later hopefully, I'm very excited.

One Jeans sound like a bargain & I hate paying £££ for everyday jeans because then I'm frightened to do any cleaning/everyday stuff while wearing them.

I got slightly carried away with a bit of exercise & long walk yesterday so now I can hardly move..
