Come and chat about fashion, make up and anything glittery and frivolous. We'll take your bad hair day seriously and you never have to apologise for a new bag Grin

And if you happen to know where I can find comfortable but stylish trainers in kakhi or dark brown you are particularly welcome (Blatant abuse of thread setting up privileges) Wink

Love the blue shoes that were too ladylike for you Amber. Your 90's inspired ootd sounded very retro but I expect you looked fab!

I had some nike hightops in the mid 90's that I wore with leggings and a huge baggy jumper - not a good look when you're 5ft and preggers. I know this because I found an old photo the other day Blush might need to destroy the evidence

QueenC · 10/04/2016 20:33

Bring it to the mu fedup. We should all bring photos of our fashion successes and fails.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/04/2016 21:10

That would be hilarious! I shudder to think of some of the things I wore as a teenager.

Amber those were the ones! I'm not sure any of the colours would be right though... the navy is lovely but would cut off my ankle. I also like these. Love your buys, you'll look great, esp with some 90s trainers!

Fedup yes, I think they'll be my main holiday shoes. I need to reassess my packing list and planned outfits spreadsheet in case I need to buy anything else. Less than 3 weeks to go!

Karcheer · 10/04/2016 21:11

Hi All,

Sorry I've been AWOL.

I went to Westfield today, got this dress for the funeral. Will probably swap the pink ribbon belt for black. Was very hard buying something when the shops were full of bright spring things!

Also got some green trousers from uniqlo.

AmberNectarine · 10/04/2016 21:36

I tried the grey and thought they were gorgeous but they just don't fit my style.

As you can tell, I'm loving the 90s revival. I spent my early teens in a crop top with an adidas sweatshirt tied round my waist. It feels like coming home!

Can you imagine if the 00s come back? We'll all be in hipster jeans and handkerchief hem tops. I seem to remember wearing a fishnet vest a lot when I was c. 17. The horror.

AmberNectarine · 10/04/2016 21:38

That's a pretty dress Karcheer, shame it's for such a sad occasion. Thanks

QueenC · 10/04/2016 22:08

Lovely dress karcheer. How you all doing?

My main memories of 90s fashion are of grunge. 501s, grey tees, men's shirts, long skirts, docs. Certainly in the early 90s whilst at uni. I can't really remember what I wore in the late 90s but my look was influenced by getting my first job a stone throw away from the Kings road and needing to look smarter to go out in Fulham bars and into central London. For going out I used to wear blouses and black trousers or a very short black skirt. I do remember a couple of long tight tube skirts with my ellesse trainers. Late 90s I met dh-first snog was black vest top and flared khaki cargo pants. 1st date was black trousers, blue shell top and denim jacket.

Dreamqueen · 11/04/2016 10:25

Quick question for thos eof you who haev SE Pettys, do they come up big/small fitting please?
there is a pair in the Asos sale but I've got no idea of the fit.

maradesbois · 11/04/2016 12:13

Morning,

Am just back from few days away with family, great time but think I'm coming down with similar thing to you QueenC, fuzzy head and heavy limbs. Wish I could do like my grandma used to and 'take to my bed' for a few days at the first sign of a cold with tea, toast and marmalade brought to her on a tray but alas not to be! Lib sounds like you need a bit of putting yourself first too, massage and exercise class sound like a good plan.

Blair happy anniversary!

justa love the jeans, I can't do cropped flare but think it looks fab on those who can.

Marsha welcome back! Lovely beach pic, hol sounds lovely and relaxing.

Dry love your blazer, looks perfect for you.

Linus yay for the trainers Smile. Know what you mean about keeping them clean, I try and keep mine looking box fresh as long as possible. Am in Peter Jones buying essentials and tempted to nip to office to buy the same white stans as last year as old ones look a bit dirty even though I think worn in looks better than brand new for most things generally. What does Vogue think about this crucially important issue? Trainers shiny new or a bit battered?

QueenC · 11/04/2016 12:40

mara I prefer a bit battered. But not too much. There's a fine line.
Still feeling shit. The cough/sore throat has gone but yesterday as well as puking I had horrific cramps and diarrhoea. And today I have a stinking cold. Oh joy. Luckily today is my day off but not sure whether I'll be back to work tomorrow as I'm still not eating properly and when I do I need to be near a loo. On the plus side I'm back down to my preholiday weight Grin

AmberNectarine · 11/04/2016 13:38

I put my Stans in the washing machine and they came up a treat mara - I live mine shiny too.

libertydoddle · 11/04/2016 14:02

Depends on the trainer IMO. Converse look good a bit battered. I think Stans look better with the box fresh vibe to them.

Larastheme · 11/04/2016 14:06

Bit battered for me,

Linus would love to see you wearing the marant trainers with Stella blazer,or is it too far out of your comfort zone? I think it would really suit you,

queen hope you feel better,

Welcome back marsha

blair happy 1st anniversary

I can't get any of the topshop links, shame as I have no idea what you all are talking about,!

is this dress wrong for me?, I hardly wear fitted dresses, but I love the sleeves, and the colour, and can see myself wearing it casually with trainers,or with high heels, Feedback is very much appreciated Smile

KittyHello · 11/04/2016 14:08

Dreamqueen I have wide feet so feel that Pettys come up small, it's taken about 2 years to break them in.

Mara I'm firmly in the Golden Goose camp re: trainers, worn in and battered for me.

Hope those of you feeling poorly and exhausted manage to feel better soon Flowers

Lovely dress Karcheer

LinusLovesBretons · 11/04/2016 16:25

That is a lovely dress karcheer! It is to wear on a sad occasion but I hope it might make you feel a littlebit better.

mara thanks again for the Bryce tip-off. I wore them today with some skinnies and my trusty coatigan and I loved the look.

I have to play around with how to wear them a bit but the Stella blazer could definitely work. Maybe with some boyfriend jeans to dress it down a bit?

Not sure the whole Phoebe Philo dressy trousers with trainers look is for me but I might try that as well.

I have already googled how to keep your trainers white. Grin

I do agree that some styles look better a bit worn but I think these probably won't.

I tried some Philippe Model ones a couple of weeks ago and whilst DH liked them he was a bit baffled about paying £££ for a 'worn' pair of trainers.

lara that dress is a gorgeous colour and the high neckline and sleeves make it less bodycon that the usual bodycon style.

Sending lots of healthy vibes to everyone who's feeling poorly.

I am going to book my flights for the 14th MU tonight. Is it an evening thing this time or an afternoon thing?

SoyYo · 11/04/2016 18:15

Phew! Its taken me a while to catch up with all your news and fab links. I was in north Norfolk at weekend and had a wonder in Norwich which was still lovely in the pouring rain, was out with DH and he's such an enabler with my shopping! Will link to new purchases later but suffice to say the weekend ended on an even spendier note as we ordered a new kitchen for our beach flat so just as well I don't want further fashion buys this spring I feel wardrobe needs complete Grin (for now anyway!)
Blair yes to travelling and staying away = knackering I'm getting on a bit and very pleased I haven't had to do any in the last few weeks but I know May will be manic again...
Nice 90's memories everyone, I feel ancient compared to you though as by then I had DC and vaguely remember 501 levis (still have them) not a lot else! Blush
Yesterday was a perfect day to watch lifeguards and fishermen on the beach, not the Med but lovely long walks by the sea

MN Vogue Vol. 69
Karcheer · 11/04/2016 19:01

linus I've missed which Stella blazer you have, but yesterday I wore my Stella blazer, boyfriend jeans and my marant trainers, I really liked the look on me.

SoyYo · 11/04/2016 19:01

navybluelace from Boden sale, this is a keeper, surprisingly comfortable and nicely made and can be dressed down easily with flat sandals for summer evenings.
The lace is like cutout lace rather than traditional lace, and super flattering

SoyYo · 11/04/2016 19:04

Also went into White Company to return a huge order, but walked away with yet another lace dress also flattering and easily dressed down for summer, such an easy colour and on me it is just a bit longer than the model so just covers knees nicely

SoyYo · 11/04/2016 19:10

subtly blingy pendant DH "spotted" in Swarovski and insisted on buying for me. really nice addition to my necklace collection.

SoyYo · 11/04/2016 19:20

arghh last post which I lost and redoing now.
I am not a trainer person (Blair I feel your pain) have now returned countless trainers as I need a pair for holidays, walks this summer.
I bought these are so far so comfortable, but as I am not very "trainer confident" would appreciate your thoughts
silverslipons mascarading as trainers my idea is to wear them with white jeans, dresses, etc

SoyYo · 11/04/2016 19:24

QueenC love the blue top you got on hols!
FedUp I need a colour and haircut (curls going wilde here) Pronto!
Mara That Algarve beach is just dreamy...
Karcheer Like the dress Flowers
Lara I also like that dress, specially the colour, if you can get away with bodycon do it!! (trust me one day you will not be able to!)
Dry Congrats on a successful blazer hunt (it is lovely!)
Right...will shut up now and try not to go AWOL too often...

Dreamqueen · 11/04/2016 20:03

Thanks Kitty the thought of a long breaking in period has put me off ordering them. I have a pair of similar All Saints ones which were comfy from the first day of wearing.

LinusLovesBretons · 11/04/2016 20:14

My flights to London and my hotel have been booked! Yay!

the MU is on 14th May, right?

QueenC · 11/04/2016 20:20

soyo love your buys-love lace and bling. I also like those slipons.
lara I really like the sleeves of the dress but I'm not sure about it. Have you tried it on? When would you wear it? It would need to warm to be bare legged but if it was too warm then the dress would be too hot?
