Feeling a bit sick of winter clothes? Looking forward to Spring Summer? Dry (and not-so-dry) January is over. Come and join us for fashion links and more. It's friendly here. Smile

Oh I didn't take it as such, don't worry Stokey!

I would rather know if someone got something for free. This especially applies to beauty. With clothes, I know what I like and I make my own decisions - whether a blogger gets a free bag won't make me any more or less likely to buy it. It might bring it to my consciousness, but if I don't like the look of it, I won't buy it.

Beauty products are a different kettle of fish because there's no meaningful way of 'trying them on' before you hand over your cash, in most instances, hence why a lot of us buy on the recommendation of bloggers/journos. It is disingenuous to rave about a £40 face cream if you've a. Tried it once/never tried it and b. Without declaring you're paid to do so. I don't believe Davina McCall really does her own colour with nice n easy in her bathroom, hence I take those ads with a shovel load of salt. I want the same disclosure for blogs so I can apply the same logic.

HELP!
My tan R and B Chelsea boits have suffered in the snow. I was caught unaware the other day and after drying them out and a very good Polish by DH manic shie polisher they still have a mark and the leather has a ridge. Anything I ccan do? Sad

They're no ruined, will inevitably get a worn in feel, but Im still Sad about it.

Oh no Dry. I am feeling this nearly as badly as if it were mine!!!!

Larastheme · 08/03/2016 20:25

Sad dry,

AmberNectarine · 08/03/2016 21:32

It's like when DH got creme brûlée on my Choos, dry. So upsetting.

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2016 09:55

I'm at Westfield for work, it's higher end than I thought it would be for a mall.

(I just posted that on the wrong thread, it was hardly worth typing once let alone twice)

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2016 09:57

The music is an abomination - feeling hit over the head with the noise

shopafrolic · 09/03/2016 10:09

Ha! Marsha - go for a neck rub - the massage angel people are amazing there.
I spilt chilli on my suede Crisi boots last night whilst cooking - I actually said out loud "shit I've done a Marsha" Grin Thank God for Collonil though and the boots being black.
I am wearing my new breton with my black R&B skinnies and Pistols today. Sent the CdG one back as the red was too orangey and it just didn't look as good as I'd hoped.

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2016 12:06

Haha no worse feeling Grin

I bought a couple of striped tops in uniqlo on my travels. Thick cotton, quite useful.

Larastheme · 09/03/2016 13:21

I'm getting this for the AB FAB movie premier , darling

marsha just what high end stores did you see? All I remember is M&S and Lego store, im sure there are more Grin but no ,never again unless I'm taking the dcs to kidzania, in that case, I need to prepare my entry and exit route,

libertydoddle · 09/03/2016 13:31

You need to enter and exit via The Village Lara. They have Prada, Burberry, LV, Miu Miu (I think). I love Westfield but only ever go mid week and just look in the Village while buying elsewhere

AmberNectarine · 09/03/2016 13:36

Yeah I just go to the village (and American apparel and Topshop). I like the searcys champagne bar.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 09/03/2016 14:43

Hi everyone

I've been feeling a bit down and tired and thought I had lost my shopping mojo. I need to buy lots of boring things for my holiday so that's been putting me off :(

Then Matches sent me the £100 off £300 code that Marsha got. Grin I mentioned a while back I want to get a DVF wrap dress - so please help me decide:
Pink floral - probably the best colour for me
Navy floral
Blue polka dot - I'm not a spotty person really!
Hot pink and orange
Classic chain link print - probably the most classic and versatile but it's black
I prefer the Julian because of the 3/4 sleeves but the main thing is the colour/print. Help!

I also need advice on shoes but I'll do a separate post sometime...

Marsha what are you going to use your code for?

Dry I sympathise :( it's sweet of your DH to try and rescue them for you. (With the food accidents, do you all cook in shoes? I never do! But my slippers are probably disgusting lol)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 09/03/2016 15:06

Ah just noticed the chain print one is sold out! Noooo.

libertydoddle · 09/03/2016 15:58

I always wear slippers in the house Blair so I am bemused at the shoe cooking accidents too Grin. Slippers do get disgusting, I replace fairly often. My favourite print for you is the hot pink and orange one with the pink floral in second place.

Uniqlo order has arrived, will do a proper update later.

AmberNectarine · 09/03/2016 16:37

I like the navy floral best. Mine is the Julian style. I had the Jeanne but didn't like so it went to eBay.

maradesbois · 09/03/2016 17:34

Hello,

Blair hope all ok. Would say pink or blue floral for you, not keen on full length sleeve. Also like the chain link but think maybe a bit old for you plus black as you say. I have a black & white dvf dress that I hardly wear because of the colour.

Dry Sad. Are you still in jail? We are watching The Night Manager, think you would like.

Have had a lovely cathartic afternoon drinking coffee with some classmates and talking about everyone we find annoying. I haven't shopped for ages, really want to go into town on Saturday. Actually would really love to jump on the Eurostar, do APC and Marant plus a few others, nice lunch, maybe and exhibition then home. Anyone fancy joining? Grin

Fascinated by the beauty blogger stuff. Personally I don't read any of them as don't buy expensive skincare but found what works for me from the dermo plus the odd bit of botox. Stokey completely understand what you're saying from journalistic pov re ethics, code of conduct etc

shopafrolic · 09/03/2016 17:36

Am I the only one on here who doesn't own a DVF dress? Not really my style I guess. Navy floral or pink and orange for you. I love the chain print - but not really your style I guess?

shopafrolic · 09/03/2016 17:37

Mara I am LOVING the Night Manager - super sexy production, that property!

QueenC · 09/03/2016 17:38

blair the pink floral is my favourite but not sure really for you. I can't imagine you in pink for some reason. Can you order a couple to try?

MarshaBrady · 09/03/2016 17:43

I don't Shop, not really my style either. It wouldn't suit me.

Blair not sure yet! Going to check out your links when I get home

Lara yes the village part, high end stuff, I noticed HK malls do the same (even higher level)

Drywhitethanks · 09/03/2016 18:23

Mara after Shop and a collegue recommended The Night Manager I've downloaded all 3 episodes, goodness knows how I'll git it all in. And yup, still in jail.
Blair I'll chrpeck your links later.

Ahem shop you actually do own a DvF dress..... Hmm

Sorry again for going AWOL but we've had some flu here at casa Linus and I have completely lost my shopping mojo so have only been following the thread occasionally. Blush

Will try and do better once I feel like myself again, promise.

LinusLovesBretons · 09/03/2016 18:26

Oh and I love The Night Manager. Will try and convince DH to watch the third episode on Iplayer tonight.

Karcheer · 09/03/2016 18:28

The night manager is great, he is a potential new bond.
I love slippers...
I've only one dvf, I find the wrap dresses don't work on me, I don't know if it's due to being short, or big boobed :/
