When blogging turns as commercial as dmbl40's then it is her job. Just because it isn't a traditional job or particularly worthy or virtuous, it is still a job. To say a lot of the very successful bloggers don't have jobs is nonsense. They are just modern marketing roles.

vindscreenviper · 01/01/2016 12:57

Are they the bone ones Brenda?

I love bum40. I never buy anything she likes as my style is different but I think she is ok. Heart in right place etc. So what if she doesn't have a job. Lucky her I say!

MsBojangles · 01/01/2016 13:23

Aww I rather like Kat, she seems like someone I'd want to be mates with in real life Blush

She had a difficult relationship with her mother from what I can gather so that's bound to affect how she's grieving, not that she should be judged for it anyway.

Methenyouplus4 · 01/01/2016 13:26

I'm not bothered about a blogger's employment status. There are times with blogs I enjoyed years ago (love taza, cupcakes and cashmere) where although it's nice that the blogs provide a main income for the blogger now (a nice reward for all their time and effort), the blogs do loose something in this process. I guess it's no different to when you love a band/ coffee shop-whatever- and suddenly everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.

With reference to bum40, I can totally see why you would want to be around friends after a bereavement and certainly why you might want to numb things with a drink or two (or more). Plus i don't know anything of their relationship so couldn't even judge if she said she was in different to the passing. That said, I still think refering to a child as 'aspie' is awful. In terms of the blog, personally i'd like to see more of her experimenting with the things she buys rather than endless links. And less of the high end (but that might suit some, while for me I spend on my mobile they mortgage what she spends on a bag).

Methenyouplus4 · 01/01/2016 13:28

That should have said I spend on my monthly mortgage what she does on a bag. Again, that's just personal preference.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2016 13:29

Agree that Bum Lady looks as if she'd be fun on a night out etc. I like her, I just don't like her blog very much these days. I'd far rather see pics of her trying just a few items on in different ways, and agree that the endless links are just bloody boring.

MsBojangles · 01/01/2016 13:33

I agree that the endless links are tedious but that's how bloggers make the majority of their money - if you click on one of their links and buy something they get money.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2016 13:50

I get that, MrsB, but it means that the bloggers have been compromised and the blogs are therefore less interesting than they might originally have been. And it's hypocritical when the links are all M&S but the things that the bloggers are actually wearing are not. Wearing It Today is very guilty of this, amongst others already mentioned.

BrendaandEddie · 01/01/2016 14:29

I never buy off any link. I'm a spiteful old cah Grin

MsBojangles · 01/01/2016 14:34

We know Brenda, that's part of your charm Grin

NattyGolfJerkin · 01/01/2016 14:34

Apparently those links create 30 day cookies if you click on them. So even if you don't buy directly from that click but do buy from that same online store within 30 days of using the affiliate link, the blogger still gets a cut for 'introducing'. Clear your cookies if you care about that stuff.

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/01/2016 14:50

Kat does seem nice but she also revealed too much about her relationship with her mother online. I do sometimes wonder if she realises that stuff is readable by many people on the internet.

I stopped doing any blogging when I went back to work.

BrendaandEddie · 01/01/2016 14:51

Christ. I will.

I love Kat Got The Cream blog but preferred it when she shopped and styled her charity shop bargains. Now she gets given so many clothes, sofas, holidays etc it has lost its innocence and that's a shame.

BrendaandEddie · 01/01/2016 15:03

I don't click. I just look the item up in a sep window.

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 01/01/2016 15:08

Oh god Kat got the cream is awful. So smug. And the freebies. Shock

NattyGolfJerkin · 01/01/2016 15:10

Katcream is fucking hilariously smug.

NattyGolfJerkin · 01/01/2016 15:14

Endless Cath Kidston & Boden outfits interspersed with free breakfasts/lunches with 'the mister' and free weekend mini breaks provided 'for review purposes' where the review is only ever glowing and never a genuine critique. Just label stuff #ad or #sponsored you shameless, wet, nincompoop.

RufusTheReindeer · 01/01/2016 15:25

I enjoy reading DMBL40

I ike her style...if i hadnt gained so much weight its the type of style i would be wearing

And i like the fact she links to cheaper, similar items

Although a "different ways i have styled these ???? Would be good"

AlwaysBeYourself · 01/01/2016 15:27

The blog bashing is out in force! Nasty !

YesOfCourseAlways · 01/01/2016 15:36

Brenda's blog threads always descend into bitchfests for some reason Hmm
