Bottle of champers, very nice dinner, board game.... Off to bed... Tresknackered.

Blackduck · 26/12/2015 21:39

Oh and Luther on catchup nothing like a bit of blood and guts :)
I think we have a party tomorrow night...

herbaceous · 26/12/2015 21:41

Had lovely boxing day, with walk in the park with good chums, then v fun party at more friends.

However, DMiL was admitted to hospital earlier today with confusion, mega-high blood sugar and suspected diabetes. By the time we returned from the party (about 9) doctors are saying her system is shutting down, and that all children should come and see her ASAP. God almighty. It wasn't supposed to happen this fast. No idea what to tell DS. Or how to help DP.

Cremo · 26/12/2015 21:50

Very sorry Herbs. Sad that's Awfully fast. So sad for Dh and siblings.

Blackduck · 26/12/2015 21:55

Oh god Herbs so sorry.

MontserratCaballe · 26/12/2015 21:55

Oh Herbs, how awful, I am so sorry. Thinking of you Flowers

NU, sorry you were upset by the photo. It is never nice to see a shocker, let alone have one presented as a gift. Flowers

Thank you so much for my secret Santa gift. I love the muffin tin and have my eye on the chocolate for a quiet solitary moment. At my mum's now. Home tomorrow, when I shall be applying my bum to the sofa and not moving for a while.

motherinferior · 26/12/2015 21:55

Oh Herbs.

herbs you don't have to do anything to help him except be there. This sounds very distressing. Sorry Flowers xx

magimedi · 26/12/2015 22:39

Flowers Herbs.

Rose has said it, you just have to be there & do all the practical day-to-day stuff.

So sorry your Christmas has turned so shite.

addle · 26/12/2015 22:58

How are things this morning, Herbs? Thinking of you FlowersFlowers

BeachysFlipFlops · 27/12/2015 09:18

That's bad news Herbs. I hope everyone has managed to get there. Thanks

NUFC69 · 27/12/2015 09:21

So sorry, Herbs, Rose, as ever, speaks good sense. Just be there for DP and DS and offer support and a shoulder. Thanks

We are still in bed (almost unheard of in the NU household). I am desperate for a day of doing nothing, apart from, possibly, a jigsaw puzzle. Thanks for the kind words re the photo and, yes, it's going in a drawer. The other thing DSis gave me was a PVC backpack Hmm which will also stay in the drawer.

The rain has stopped at last - fortunately no sign of flooding locally since they finished our flood defences, but the scenes from Yorkshire and Lancashire are awful.

herbaceous · 27/12/2015 09:41

DP left this morning on the train. He's still hoping the docs were being over-cautious. But fears the worst. She was so sprightly on Sunday, it's so hard to believe she's gone downhill so suddenly. I suppose the cancer might have got to a particular body-regulating bit of brain this week.

I told DS that nanny was very ill, and wasn't going to get better. His response made me so proud. He said: "But that's not fair. That will mean daddy has no mummy or daddy. But we can be his family and look after him, can't we." < sob >

Rosebag · 27/12/2015 09:51

Children can be very black and white about these things and can teach adults a thing or two, can't they? A healthy reaction from DS, herbs Flowers

motherinferior · 27/12/2015 10:02
