Merry Christmas, beloved Crepeys Xmas Grin

MI you are an example to us all. Nevertheless I am having cake in bed before I do anything else.

very well done on the driving, addle, glad it was worth it (I know that whimpering, white-knuckled feeling). How is DH?

Here I have resisted rowing with DM although she was pointlessly spiteful to DD yesterday. Here's to Christmas truces everywhere [santa]

Rosebag · 25/12/2015 09:20

I have just opened my SS and been gifted a bar of divine salted almond chocolate which I shall eat all my greedy self. Yum...thank you whoever you are.

magi Flowers sorry youre missing DS.

stropps here's to an extended truce. Love to you xx

tilly I do hope DM calms down has forgotten what ever it was that has unsettled her and that you can enjoy the day.

Well done, addle Driving in the dark to an unfamiliar place is a big deal Star

mrsS that's a stress cold, I'm in no doubt. Be well and have a medicinal whisky, you poor thing.

herbs i have some ideas for you re theatre and will pm them to you later on today. How sweet about DSs singing.

And to all you other lovelies...MERRY CHRISTMAS. Going to make up the paxo now....

wordassociationfootball · 25/12/2015 09:25

I too am a middle-aged parasite at pils, Stropps. Hope the truce holds.

Magi your post yesterday made me a bit damp in the eyes and your drunk one a day or two ago (Inc wsnk badgers) made me laugh.

We are having a lovely time and caught up with the friend I met DH through last night. She is hilarious and it was fun times for all.

Merry Christmas you lot. Good luck to all cooks!!!!!!!

Hello lovely Secret Santa, thank you so much for my divine soap, and for heeding all flagrant hints hitherto-fore left lying. I shall smell marvellous today!
Xx Crem

CointreauVersial · 25/12/2015 11:18

Grin Auriga!

Happy Christmas, crepeys! I am having a brief respite on the sofa with a third glass of Buck's Fizz before I need to get on with things. DCs woke us with cups of tea at a very civilised 8am; we've had breakfast and the DCs have opened their gifts (all hits, I think). No ladyjogging of any sort has been done. Off to DSis's in a bit.

And a very big thank you to my Secret Santa for the super-indulgent Clarins gift! Mwah!

I have yet to open my SS! How restrained!

Have reached that perfect time of Christmas Day, when enough booze has been consumed to Mae everything rosy and fuzzy, the dinner is nearly done, without too many obvious disasters, and DS loves all his presents but particularly the Kano, a kid of early coding kit.

Spoke too soon - just out too much lea and Perrins in the gravy.

magimedi · 25/12/2015 15:13

Am so tempted to tell you to pee in the gravy, herbs Grin

And I've only had a pint so far - in pub on way back from visit to aged rello in Portsmouth.

Rack of lamb, rossties & veg & Wine coming later. Waiting for DS to finish work so we can skype.

magimedi · 25/12/2015 15:13

For purposes of dilution of 'Pee & Lerrins' Grin

bigTillyMint · 25/12/2015 15:31

Thank you SS for my crepeys Christmas present! A lovely scarf.

Just back from the pub - had a festive few beers with friends, teens, granny's and all! Turkey is still in the oven and we are watching Arthur Christmas in your pants on Netflix. No rows yetXmas Smile

motherinferior · 25/12/2015 18:48

We are back from my parents'. I survived with the help of fizz, DO cooked an excellent lunch and I only had moment of bursting into tears in the loo...

Stropperella · 25/12/2015 18:52

Everyone up by 7.30am this morning, even dd. Hmm First round of presents at home all v jolly, then off to Granny's only a bit late. Granny triumphed again with lunch, dd ate her own bodyweight in everything, having given up being vegetarian for Christmas. (I would roll my eyes, but I'm so used to this kind of thing, I'll just shrug instead - she ate a massive steak last night.)
Currently loafing in front of the telly at dm's and contemplating investigating the cheeseboard. I think it's highly likely that db and Co will be descending on us tomorrow and I will have to do some serious tidying up tomorrow morning and magic up some food. Truce still holding, but am expecting it all to go horribly wrong by the end of tomorrow, latest.
Thank you, Secret Santa! Soz for pic on its side Grin

Stropperella · 25/12/2015 18:53

Ooh, pic not its side after all. Smile

bigTillyMint · 25/12/2015 19:06

Love the socks! And glad there's no shenanigans so far.

Having a chilled Christmas Day - teens have been great so far and DS declared the dinner was delicious and helped me carve the rest of the turkey up for the freezer and a pie to take to DM's tomorrow. Still to have our Christmas pud!

Well held together, MI.

MrsS, are you still there - waiting for your DM's best pronouncements so far!

hattymattie · 25/12/2015 20:04

So glad things are going well Stropps.

Now relaxed in front of Call the Midwife. Meal went really well and I didn't drink too much so feel chilled. DD1 really helpful, DD2 not so much!

It will be so nice to not have to get up tomorrow for any deadline except coffee with friends late morning. I'm going to stay in bed and read my book.

gonegrey56 · 25/12/2015 20:15

Merry Christmas to all, and I hope the truces have held, and an enjoyable day has passed for everyone. Thank you to whoever sent the lovely Secret Santa sparkly lights, now festooned around my kitchen.
A good day here, brisk, wet and very muddy walk this morning, and I managed to not overcook the turkey for once (my usual trick). Elderly relatives all content and snoozing in front of fire, dd back from Paris (scene at Eurostar meeting point at St Pancras on Wednesday night was just like something from Love Actually), and she indulged us with glorious singing this afternoon (choral scholar at Uni) which was a treat and made me so tearful. Even usually grumpy dh is mellow, long may it last...

Blackduck · 25/12/2015 21:24

Got through it. And now long tough convos about care homes...

Lovely pressies and my SS went above and beyond!

Blackduck · 25/12/2015 21:25

I loves strops sock picture :)

Rosebag · 25/12/2015 21:48

Xmas Grin at stripey socks!

I have watched Call the Midwife and am now continuing to sit fatly in front of Downton. Two cups of mulled wine followed by two glasses of prosecco is very unusual for a non drinker like me. Was pleased with my Xmas dinner as I usually am, but every year I seem to sweat more in the effort to produce it. And staggering through the cleaning up. Although that might have been the drink.

Tomorrow we are having lunch with DSis and family at a local bistro. More eating....

Merry Xmas to all xxx

CointreauVersial · 25/12/2015 22:29

Watching Downton with a bigger belly than Anna the Housemaid. Lovely lunch c/o BIL, a monster pile of gifts; contentment reigns.

Strops - Secret Santa gave you a Jack Russell??! ShockWink

herbaceous · 25/12/2015 22:58

Lovely day here. Very restrained present opening from the Young Master, as he was gratifyingly entranced by the Kano DP bought him - a basic build-it-yourself computer that teaches how to code. He spent two hours playing with that, ignoring the pile of other pressies under the tree.

Then, sloe gin Royales, frankly delicious roast beef, and lovely cake. Then falling asleep now settee. Then über cab to a friends house and back. Then a festive episode of Luther. Nothing says Christmas better than random acts of cannibalistic killings in the shoreditch area.

Thank you to my not-so-secret Santa! Lovely hand cream and delicious looking chocolates of a pleasingly French nature. Should add nicely to my obesity crisis.

Glad to hear all crepeys have had pleasing yuletides.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/12/2015 23:37

Shoot me now. Am being forced to watch a Chas & Dave Christmas Special from the 1980s.

BANG! BANG!!

Just for Mrs S.

Herbs My gravy tasted boring so I put some Pee & lerrins in it & it was amazing! Many thanks!

All over now for another year! Hooray!

Bon soir - a demain!
