Crem, eg Specsavers give you two weeks with varifocals (if you haven't had them before) but in any case if any optician has sold you glasses that you can't see with, then you should get your money back, or replacements, I think.

Rosebag · 13/01/2016 13:13

Hey, I rate Sainsbos jeggings...I have them in red and black Smile I haven't given in to Hotter, yet but I do love my Gabor boots. When did comfort suddenly trump style?

cremo that's bad about the specs.... Are you sure the optician knows what he's doing?

I am fuming with Amazon whom I actually love, but they seem to have lost a new portable electric piano I have ordered. The pedal and the stand arrived bang on time. I have had online chat with a polite person at their end who assures me it's due today, (already a day late), has refunded me three quid, and said they'll use a different carrier in future, but now the tracking says can't guarantee even today. Keeps saying some problem re my address and the parcel keep being shunted from one distribution centre to another in Herts. They've subcontracted out to Yodel....'nuff said.

I am going a bit mad about it because, some offshoot members of the choir I used to teach asked me to resurrect the small folk singing group I used to run at home. I procrastinated for ages having totally lost confidence. But I finally bit the bullet, and set up one for this Saturday, with three of us teaching, (me, dS2 and a friend from the theatre who can sight read whatever you put in front of her. I sent out music and...get this...also sound files for all three parts, duly recorded on my trusty iPhone buy me and DS. And now I won't have enough bloody pianos. Angry if someone doesn't pull their finger out.... Oh the aggravation !

How is stropps ?

Auriga · 13/01/2016 13:18

Crem if you haven't had varifocals before, you have to get used to a new way of looking, ie pointing your nose (not just your eyes) at what you want to see. Took me a couple of weeks to adjust. Could that have something to do with it?

Cremo · 13/01/2016 13:22

I'm thinking about Stropps too. Smile

Rose that is infuriating re piano. Yodel insisted my address did not exist, for weeks. In the end I had to talk the driver through each turn as he was driving. They were so abrupt and rude that I made a formal complaint. To no avail. I am willing the piano to arrive for you.

Am off back to the optician on Friday. Tbh I just want my old lenses back. He is a v reputable guy , Lalsy. Old family firm, etc etc. Trouble lies with my tablets I think, as they can affect vision and therefore test may be needed again.Sad

motherinferior · 13/01/2016 13:25

And now…Largest Cat has been sleeping for the past MONTH, apparently, in the shed at house two down from us. Bloke got so pissed off with him he took LC to the animal shelter, who rang the neighbour he used to belong to (as microchip contact – we must update that!) and then sent him home. Bloke . v pissed off. Clearly hates cats. Short of a ‘cat net’ to keep them in garden, what do we do?

Cannot help feeling bloke’s cat-hatred is a bit of a lost cause in this road anyway. There are millions of the buggers.

Cremo · 13/01/2016 13:25

Auriga, I've always had varifocals, so am used to the disconnection thing between eyes. The specs are fine when looking up, but when I look down at the iPad to write this, it is completely blurred thro left lens. The right one seems ok.
Boring issue I realise.

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2016 13:41

MI, how was your cat getting into his shed?

Cremo, sorry to hear about your glasses/vision problems. I have an appointment booked to check my sight. Currently I balance my reading glasses on the end of my nose and look over them when not reading, teacher-stylieGrin

magimedi · 13/01/2016 13:42

Another long term varifocal wearer here.

Sounds as if someone has made a big mistake, Cremo. What a pain.

Am just about to pack ready for trip tomorrow. Most excited!

motherinferior · 13/01/2016 14:03

Yep, Cremo, speaking as someone who writes about eye health it sounds like what we in the field call A Mistake Grin

BTM, by this point in the conversation I was feeling so berated all I could do was apologise cravenly and try to get it all over with and shut the door. Also I can’t see how the cat’s been sleeping there for ‘the past month’ because the bugger’s been in my office for half that time. Immobile.

herbaceous · 13/01/2016 15:33

Talking of eyes, I'm with DS at the regular Moorfields clinic. Along with every other visually challenged child in the country. It seems, and their extended family. Occasionally a doctor will come out to call the next patient, but can't be heard above the din.

Disturbed that I cast frumpy nasturtiums upon your garb, MI. After all, I too have coveted hotter shoes.

motherinferior · 13/01/2016 15:44

I’m just revamping a piece on computer games for blind people. Fascinating.

herbaceous · 13/01/2016 16:02

If you want caravans revamping let me know. I'm going to be at a loose end until end of Jan. By when hopefully work will have rustled up a course for me to teach.

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2016 16:04
Confused

Magi - happy trip - how lovelySmile

CointreauVersial · 13/01/2016 16:39

I have a pair of Hotter shoes. Blush They are truly horrid; I bought them in the sales last year, thinking I'd wear them in the dark mainly at work, then forgot about them. By the time I dug them out and realised how vile they really were it was too late to return them.

I have a Damart bodywarmer too (but that is furry and lovely).

CointreauVersial · 13/01/2016 16:40

Ooh yes, have a fab holiday, Magi. You lucky thing, you.....

Lalsy · 13/01/2016 18:00

Magi, I have missed where you are going, but have a lovely time!

Cremo · 13/01/2016 18:37

Bon voyage Magi wherever you may be going.Wine

hattymattie · 13/01/2016 19:06

Magi - I also missed where you're going but have a great time.

motherinferior · 13/01/2016 19:26

She's going to France, IIRC, to see PFGD!

magimedi · 13/01/2016 19:27

I am off to the Alps - where DS, DDIL & PFGC live & work.

Heaps of snow & more to come.

Thermals packed.

Just for a few days, back early next week.

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2016 19:59

I hope there is loads of snow, Magi - we are off there skiing in a month!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/01/2016 20:43

Molly - DH was delighted to hear that Resonance has another listener! I don't mind some of it in small doses, but some of it is just awful.

Has anyone heard from Stropps?

OP posts:
GiddyGiddyGoat · 13/01/2016 20:57

Hope you are ok Stropps and that your absence is due to being at your DM's / being immersed in new job. Hang on in there lovely. X

Cremo · 13/01/2016 21:16

Big dump at Deux Alpes caused an avalanche today. Snow report for Trois Valees ( chamonix-mont-blanks )is supposed to be Excellent. So says nephew age 11 who knows these things.Grin
As you were.

Herbs can you really refurbish caravans?Hmm

magimedi · 13/01/2016 22:14

Hope Stropps is just having a peaceful evening & some sleep.

I will not be going skiing. I have never skiied (sp?). I never intend to ski.
