Stropps, the advice on here is so good and sensible, please take it. I do agree about trying to get DD's inheritance put back if possible, 23 sounds a much better age. And, yes, you must think of DS and yourself. Your new job sounds fantastic, so try to sleep tonight so you feel better tomorrow. ThanksWine

MI, sorry to hear that you're under the cosh, too. Be kind to yourself and enjoy your literary day. I am always Envy when I hear what you're doing, etc, and feel my life has been rather empty - don't let your feelings get you down.

bigTillyMint · 12/01/2016 13:12

MI, sending you happy vibes.

Stropps, excellent advice from everyone. I love BD's idea of a letter. I often text DD when I have to say something she might kick off about - then I can phrase it more carefully and add little emojiis so that she gets the point, without an overly emotional reaction/argument.

Herbs, excellent! Charge your usual rate?

motherinferior · 12/01/2016 13:58

Minimum £250 a day, I’d say, Herbs.

BeachysFlipFlops · 12/01/2016 14:10

Omg, just heard Jerry Hall is engaged to Rupert Murdoch Shock

I had always rather liked her.

motherinferior · 12/01/2016 14:32

But Beachy, how can you stand in the way of love???? Wink

bigTillyMint · 12/01/2016 15:22

I bet she just couldn't wait to get into his pantsGrin

Auriga · 12/01/2016 15:24

No advice Stropps. Wishing you a better sleep tonight.

hattymattie · 12/01/2016 15:52

Jerry Hall's got plenty of cash hasn't she? Why on earth would she want to marry Rupert Murdoch? He's ancient isn't he?

motherinferior · 12/01/2016 16:14

You are SO cynical, all of you. You just don’t understand LURVE. I think it’s so romantic.

Cremo · 12/01/2016 16:17

Arm candy for him, access to elite circle in US & OZ for her. Doubt her mean payoff from Mick is keeping her in the manner so to speak.Wink

Cremo · 12/01/2016 16:18

Grin or , ahem , love at first sight as MI says.

hattymattie · 12/01/2016 16:48

That must have cheered you up MI Wink

motherinferior · 12/01/2016 16:57

As many threads about Kate Middleton have pointed out, you can’t help who you fall in love with. Cupid’s little –golden—darts fall where they may.

(She was doing panto in Richmond the Christmas before last...)

CointreauVersial · 12/01/2016 17:39

Kate Middleton was doing panto?? ShockGrin

You crepeys move too fast - it has taken me three goes to catch up with the thread and still leave time to post....and I have to be out of the door in ten to take DD2 to a roller disco, then off to school for an info session about the new English/Maths GCSEs DD1 will be doing.

I'm chuckling about the "Waitrose car park" comment....then Strops saying, erm, well, actually I DID have a stressful moment in a Waitrose car park. Grin

Also, what a lovely load of cheery suggestions offered to MI - I might have to print out some of these and pin them up somewhere. Tidy a drawer - I could do with that a few times over. I don't know if it's SAD or something else, but last night I conked out on the sofa at 8.30pm. DH woke me up; I concluded I didn't have anything which really needed doing, so I went to bed. Before the DCs! This hasn't happened in living memory.

Strops - stay strong, have a good rest at DM's this evening. I think the letter is a brilliant idea.

bigTillyMint · 12/01/2016 17:42

CV, I frequently go to bed before the DCBlush

hattymattie · 12/01/2016 17:54

CV - I often nod off on the sofa - it's a good test of how engaging any particular TV programme is. Frequently I miss the end of something and DH won't tell me what happened.

I have drawers that haven't been tidied for... several years Blush. I'd have to be really depressed to go into my sock drawer.

CointreauVersial · 12/01/2016 18:58

But I'm a 1am girl. Known to survive long periods on five hours a night....

bigTillyMint · 12/01/2016 20:07

I have no trouble falling asleep but often wake up too early.

I have Kondoed 3 drawers in my bedroom and I love it!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 12/01/2016 20:37

I often stay up very late.. I NEVER wake up too early!

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/01/2016 22:00

Kate Middleton was doing panto? Oh no she wasn't! (That has to be the only response to that line.)

In S & B news, I have a new pair of Hotter shoes and a nice pair of Footgloves from the M & S sale. I am clearly all about the glamour...

Blackduck · 13/01/2016 06:57

Stropps hope you got a good nights sleep!

bigTillyMint · 13/01/2016 07:00

MrsS, NoooooooooShock!!!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/01/2016 08:31

The shoes are not too bad, although DH said the Hotter ones look like something The Queen would wear to go to the corner shop to get her paper. The footglove ones are just ballet flats in black suede. Reduced from £45 to £15.

Cremo · 13/01/2016 10:00

You are pushing the style boundaries of this thread Mrs S. Love it! I have thrown out The Boden catalogue, having decided there is not one thing I would wear.Grin

GGG, I'm like you. Could stay up til v late, but have always struggled with the mornings. I always thought it was to do with conditioning by my jobs, which always have involved working past 9pm. The killer for me is getting back into work for 9am. However, I could fall asleep on a washing line these days.Hmm

I have new lenses in my specs. But Crepeys, I cannae see anything, so I'm going to have to go back to the optician. He tested my eyes twice to make sure the new lenses were correct, but the mid distance is but a fog. And the lenses cost a million pounds of course as they are varifocals. Damn damn and damn.

motherinferior · 13/01/2016 10:01

Given that I myself am sporting a pair of Next slipper booties (purple suede), Sainsbury’s jeggings and a merino kurta tunic from East (which I thought was OK till Herbs worried me about its fogeyness) I cannot cast nasturtiums.

Am still slightly sunk in gloom but performed another Ladyjog this morning.
