Stropps - go you Grin

Not a big one for NY so quite glad to be escaping it.....

MontserratCaballe · 31/12/2015 08:01

Safe journey, BD. Sorry for hideous start time.

Love the dress Smile

Stropps, hope you can walk today after your exertions yesterday evening.

MIL arriving at lunch time. I am being dispatched to buy her a Christmas present. I may have to hide in a coffee shop for a while. Though not until she has left, sadly. Time for me to commune with my marking methinks.

Have a good day everyone.

NUFC69 · 31/12/2015 09:29

Bon voyage, BD. Have a safe journey.

I am just waiting for DS's DC to arrive for the morning. It's a pleasant day so I think a brisk walk/scoot at the coast won't go amiss.

motherinferior · 31/12/2015 09:33

I have conducted my last Ladyjog of the year and have suggested to those of my fellow-inmates as are free that we go to the seaside.

Crepeys it is time to stop swingeing ourselves with self-reproach and applaud that which we have done in 2015. And resolve to live in 2016.

So I am going to start. I have managed to keep in employment, done new work (the teaching), run on Christmas Day and NYE, achieved a workable level of rapprochement with my mother and written two and a half drafts of a novel in 10 (ten, X) months. And I am proud of that, dammit.

CointreauVersial · 31/12/2015 09:37

This is the earliest I've been up for days. Blush DD1's gym class (which runs throughout the school hols) is usually at 5pm, but they've helpfully rescheduled for 10am. I shall dump her outside and have 90 minutes to run around Tesco. Then a day of cooking, cleaning and general visitor prep beckons.

DH has gone for a run. I haven't ladyjogged for about two months now, shame on me.

Collymollypuff · 31/12/2015 09:53

I have survived. Wink

And so have my dc.

bigTillyMint · 31/12/2015 10:08

I am feeling rather sluggish and even fatter than usual after a week of eating and drinking and no exercise.

Are you there yet BD?

If I try to review my achievements I just cry.Sad It's good I haven't murdered anyone though....

Sun is shining and we are going walking for as much of the day as the weather allows. We are booked into favourite fish restaurant for supper tonight. Eating...always eating. I'm with tilly on the fat and sluggish bench except Tilly isn't fat....

herbaceous · 31/12/2015 10:40

Is there room on the fat and sluggish bench for my massive arse? I feel vast and unwieldy. Hopefully this will be assuaged somewhat by imminent trip to Valentine's Mansion (unexpectedly lovely park in Ilford) where we will blow some cobwebs away.

Sacked off the Kew lights last night in favour of a long-overdue bit of 'In' with DP. 'In' means nice companionable sit on the settee watching a film, rather than anything rude. I forgot that in fact I could have gone out to meet a friend who's over from Chicago, but it was raining, and when I did remember I CBA.

Off out later to spend my Liberty coin! How exciting! Can't divine from the website what bargains can be had in the sale (other than absurdly expensive scarves and bags) so am full of antip---ation.

Heartily approve of MI's 'big ourselves up' idea. Perhaps we could also do it for each other?

Big up me: passed my PGCE with flying colours, started a new career, had my hair cut short, had fantastically successful 50th birthday party, and continued new life policy of saying sincere compliments and thanks when I think of them.

Another crepey: Stropps. Ditto on the retraining front, had breakthrough of thinking re DD, has had semi-breakthrough in training DH not to be useless.

motherinferior · 31/12/2015 10:43

We STILL haven't left the house because DD2 has been dawdling on her phone AngryAngry. Then she wept and whined and said she was sorry and didn't know she was doing anything wrong when I got impatient with her.Angry

motherinferior · 31/12/2015 10:45

I would also like to big up Rose who wrote a play GrinGrinGrinand WAF who attracted an agent.

Rose, stop crying and start preening ThanksThanksThanks

bigTillyMint · 31/12/2015 11:08

Errrr, I'm with Molly on the survivors bench as my achievement Smile

CointreauVersial · 31/12/2015 14:29

Well, talking of achievements, may I present my expertly tiled splashback. Just for you, Rudy. (Actually, don't look too closely - I need to go over the grouting again).

Now debating whether to take the tiles right across. Not today, obviously. Cleaning and cooking, cleaning and cooking....

All I Want For Crepemas Is Youth
bigTillyMint · 31/12/2015 14:34

Looks great CV!

We are home. Journey ended with DD's not-looked-at revision notes blowing all across the road as we got out of the car, and then her screaming at me because the deliveryman hadn't left a note saying where her Northie has been delivered to and I didn't want to go round all the neighbours to find it for herHmm

hattymattie · 31/12/2015 16:03

Rose - you are lovely and not at all useless. We have also been walking, except DS who apparently has a bad leg so he has tidied the house - I have to say it's beautiful.

It's a bit awkward here as DD1 has BF staying who is actually not BF anymore but just good friend - except now I think she is getting irritated by him and ignoring him and horseplaying with DS instead. Basically BF is too nice - DH and I are finding this very difficult as her coldness towards him is palpable. Also feel there are so many bastards out there she at least shouldn't be unkind.

Anyway they are all out this evening and I have refused invitation in favour of sitting cosily with DH, drinking champagne and oh, we have agreed to watch the original Star Wars with DS. I'm a real old grump at New Year so happy to cuddle up and have a family meal tomorrow when the waifs and strays turn up.

Nice splash back CV.

herbaceous · 31/12/2015 16:26

I am in Liberty, and in a right old quandary about how to spend my coin! Options include outrageously blingy Oscar de la Renta ring, Marc Jacobs purse, Liberty print Nikes, or slightly mad Vivienne Westwood top that isn't as flattering as I'd hoped? Or make up!

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/12/2015 16:36

I am giving you sterling advice on FB, Herbs. Get the ring.

OP posts:
herbaceous · 31/12/2015 16:42

I think the ring has it. I'm going to also buy some gold Isabel Marant earrings too. Just because.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/12/2015 16:46

Go for it. We need to see a picture too. Had I known you were in Liberty I'd have come up and egged you on.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 31/12/2015 17:13

We have been to MargateSmile.

herbaceous · 31/12/2015 17:22

Ring with bling.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/12/2015 18:36

I agree with MI - and if we don't blow our own trumpets, then no-one else will do it for us. Molly and BTM, you have done more than survive.

I have a fab new job, that nobody thought I would get, and sort of know what I am doing now, nearly two months in. My evil bitch of a previous boss has fucked off to another country so no longer my problem, but someone else's. Someone serious has expressed interest in turning my first novel into a short TV series, not holding my breath, but will see what happens. And I have done a good job of entertaining you of late with my fabulous, fat, fifty year old foxiness!
