Akcherly , I now recall dd's 180 degree turnaround took place after significant input from yours truly on the day before Christmas Eve and for which I am awarding myself a blardy big medal. Coz I done good and have upgraded my skills as best I could.

Sorry, I realise I am blathering.

MrsS, book that hotel and that colleague. I have already informed dh that unless he makes a bit more effort in all areas, I will be working late. A lot.

Collymollypuff · 30/12/2015 20:07

Oh, BD, you are still here and not yet gorn to Gozo, great! My PFB who causes great angst is not deliriously enjoying his course, altho he is having a truly fab time socially. He should definitely speak to his tutor, shouldn't he? Not sure what they can do, but it's worth putting the ball in their court, innit?

Stropps, you do deserve a medal, of course! Those Xmas gifts from dd were amazing. Thanks

Rosebag · 30/12/2015 20:20

Me too...a male colleague. Tee hee......DH hates it. The he starts suggesting we go out and stuff. You'll see, it does work. Now to get you a red hello rabbi dress. Crepeys, links for MrsS please...

Rosebag · 30/12/2015 20:26

hello rabbi

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2015 20:27

Molly is he not enjoying it or struggling and likely to fail? I have had to learn the difference between these 2 possibilitiesWink

Yes well done Stropps on the present front!

I have heartburn and the festivities are not yet overHmm

Stropperella · 30/12/2015 20:27

I am congratulating myself on surviving Christmas without any elderly relatives declaring themselves massively insulted and no one threatening anything terrible. Whereas others may have done their excessive drinking in the lead-up to the 25th, I am getting mine in tonight. Have had 2 glasses of red and am now enjoying a v nice pint of West Indian Porter. And I will regret all of this when I am in a gigantic sweat and anxiety attack at 3am. But for now, I am enjoying myself. As evidenced by my random witterings.

Tomorrow, dd is off to a NY party in a neighbouring town and will stay over. Dh is playing a gig in a neighbouring county and will not be back until approx 3am, and ds and I are invited to a waifs and strays open house up the road for those parents who are left at home with dcs and haven't got a baby-sitter. Ds is having one of his bffs for a sleepover after we have seen the NY in. I will therefore be having a restrained 1 or 2 glasses of fizz and coming home with the 2 boys at about 12.15am. Tonight is my one night for over-indulgence

Stropperella · 30/12/2015 20:28

Rose, I need that dress

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2015 20:44

Stropps, WTF is West Indian porter?

DS is getting a bit anxious about tomorrow night - he said he is inviting 2 mates, but DD said sone of her mates are coming round for pre - party drinks and not leaving till 10... Methinks he has something more planned. DH and I are off round to friends.

Lalsy · 30/12/2015 20:47

On way back after splendidly chilled and enjoyable mini break with friends. Even the dc get nostalgic together.

Kondoing - think vital to just take the bits that work for you. shoeboxes worked in deep drawers. I have only done a bit, but what has been done has stayed done so I will keep going, slowly.

Stropps, bloody big medal and similarly sized glass f wine for you young lady!

BeachysFlipFlops · 30/12/2015 20:51

We had an impromptu nibbly bits and gluwein out with a neighbour, taking dad too. He's now happily snoring on the sofa and I'll pop him in bed about 915pm.....

I do think Christmas brings out the worst in couples. I have had about a week of everyone telling me how 'wonderful' dh is and how 'lucky' I am to have such a 'helpful' Dh Confused. Does me in, every year!! It makes me want to blurt out all the stuff I have to deal with the other 350 days of the year.....

I'm not sure I'm up to a red dress and a colleague. All the men in my office are about 23!

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2015 20:54

Love the red dress, but it would definitely look waaay better on DD than me! And I can't imagine getting off with any of my colleagues!

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/12/2015 20:58

I would look like one of the fat slags in that dress - it would accentuate my fat beautifully!

You could be a cougar, Beachy. Grin

addle · 30/12/2015 20:58

Stropps - enjoy your porter - you've done amazingly well this year and your DD's presents show she's properly thought about you.

Beachy - similar re colleagues. and they are lovely but end or start every sentence with 'Awesome'

Just had the 'there's no food in the house/did you save me any carbonara' from DD who previously insisted that she would a) be out b) hated carbonara. the house is groaning with food but there happens not to be any bread because we've been away for 3 days. pah

mrs s - get the dress!

Stropperella · 30/12/2015 21:02

Oh crap, dd has just asked me to play Just Dance on the xbox. I was not expecting her to be this sociable and am likely to injure myself during the dancing process. Was much less dangerous watching ds's scientific magic show. Pls wish me luck, as I will undoubtedly lose valuable parenting points if I do not dance.

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2015 21:08

Maybe it is some kind of rum punch?Envy
Good luck with Just Dance - I couldn't do it sober!

We have Dirty Harry on and FIL is showing DD his old gun licenceHmm

Stropperella · 30/12/2015 21:20
Stropperella · 30/12/2015 21:36

Update: totes wiped the floor with dd during a Rihanna number.

Collymollypuff · 30/12/2015 21:36

Impressive, Stropps! Grin

BTM, ds would say: "IT'S FINE!"

Which means everything is far from fine, and his mum should go into paroxysms of guilt and anxiety.

And it means I have to get the torture implements out to try to extract any further info I can.

Stropperella · 30/12/2015 21:38

Am having more Porter and dd is totes cheating by practising the next dance. Pls replay this all to me when she is being a +++loon next week.

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2015 21:41

Stropps it sounds like a great night!

CointreauVersial · 30/12/2015 22:30

Strops - I love a bit of Just Dance. We have the whole series. Always amusing when DH joins in, lured by an Elvis track.

BTM - hmm....so you are going out tomorrow evening and leaving your DCs to invite "friends round"? Brave..... DS is off to a party in the back of beyond, but has organised a taxi home, as it was made clear we weren't planning to collect him.

BD - bon voyage (if you haven't left already).

That Kondo thing....I am definitely in the market for this, and might invest in the book. I am getting a bit better about letting go of stuff (have been eBaying for the last six months and have a pile ready for a Spring car boot sale), but I could do better.

I'm having a culinary crisis about tomorrow night - DH declared he'd like beef & ale pie, which is slightly outside my comfort zone, but I went with it (why??!) and promptly burned the beef. Angry After scouring t'internet for tips I did a swift pan switcheroo, and shoved some peeled spuds into the pot to soak up the burnt taste and a slosh of balsamic vinegar to disguise it. It's still in the oven; the jury is still out as to whether it will actually be edible. It might be chicken traybake after all.

But on a positive note, my mosaic backsplash looks aMAZing and took about ten minutes to do.

CointreauVersial · 30/12/2015 22:32

Backsplash?? Splashback?? Confused

Cremo · 30/12/2015 22:33

I have stayed at Hotel Chopin. It is rather smoked salmon coloured and rickety. We had a view of the roof of the wacky wax museum from our garret window. I liked it.
I'd suggest the hotel Du Champs De Mars or the Parc St Severin
As you were.

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2015 22:35

CV you're a woman after my own heart - doing the splashback yourself with a similarly useless DH to mine
I sincerely hope DS is not attempting a party at ours. We don't mind a few mates round though. And we are only going to be 5mins walk away. Not worried. At all!

Stropperella · 31/12/2015 00:38

The fun bit only lasted 40 mins, but it was indeed fun.
