Not sure what I will be doing NYE. Will be in Ireland so depending on babysitting arrangements will either be with some family in my brother's house or else local pub. Will be fun either way

I'm out at a friend's 'round the world' fancy dress NYE ended very badly when I got to USA last time, still mortified. I'm representing Greece, thought I'd look glam in an ancient Greek Godess dress from Ebay. Arrived. A hideous nylon nightie I'll have to work on it ....DH is USA cowboy DD India beautiful cobalt blue sari, damn

No party here for NYE. Not a big fan. We got some bad news years back on NYE so I haven't really celebrated much since. Hope some of you are glamming it up so I can live it through you.

I did that one year Drywas fun until boyfriend of the time snogged my bestie. Sensing a pattern here? NYE never goes well for me

Tbh I prefer christmas, NYE is over rated....always imagined it would be evening dresses and balloons falling from the ceiling/fireworks.....fun but never like that

i don't think i'm doing anything for NYE, we'll probably just watch some films and have some nibbles. i haven't been out on NYE since the year i ended up with a black eye because of over excited first time outers and my glasses got broken beyond repair.

I'm not a NYE fan either. Lots of them in my twenties just seemed to end walking home for miles in heels in the cold and never being able to get a taxi!

Ah, any excuse to party chez Nectarine! DH and I will be checking into an overpriced hotel, drinking a bottle of fizz, getting our glad rags on and heading out for cocktails and karaoke until approx one minute past midnight at which point I will get a bit amorous, drag him home and promptly pass out if previous years are anything to go by!

Today I have all the glamour of an opticians appointment!

I have ordered xylophone crackers and printed off baby pictures of all the teenagers that will be attending will pin them up around the kitchen if teens accept invitations they shpukd fully expect to be picked on en masse

So our visit ended in us leaving early. My life is waaay too hectic to do christmas drama so i woke up early, packed before everyone was up and we left after breakfast.

Anyway back to chat..! Dh's presents were, as usual, totally bang on. He got me 2 CDs (they are the presents that make me the happiest!), some l'occitaine goodies (love them!), beats wireless headphones (great idea and very thoughtful for my gym sessions). I wasnt expecting any of that but then he also got me a watch, a coat and scarf.

Dry those crackers look fun; we played good old fashioned bingo with all the teens on christmas day and after a lot of eye rolling they loved it, all wanting to have a go calling - we tried to teach them all the 'bingo lingo' unsurprisingly 'anyway up 69' caused the most hilarity

We always spend NYE with close friends unless one of us is away and we have become very selective about where we go and what we do having been to a couple of dire parties over the years This year however, some other close friends are hosting a party so we're headed there.

Aargh just lost a long catch-up post.

Can't get too cross, am in ba lounge at Heathrow sipping champ. Not often I travel in style so making the most of it, dh's abundant air miles slightly compensate for his endless absences.

Off to slightly sunnier climes for the new year break. Not bothered about celebrating NYE itself but we get together with same group of old friends every year for good times.

Dry your party sounds ace. Reminds me of village where I grew up, parents and their friends used to have great 'dos' we were happy to go to throughout our teens and beyond. Definitely need a pic of your costume.

lib good call on the coat, I fully agree with the general consensus . Still remember Blair's coat from a past mu in similar shade.

Marsha your day with dh on own sounded great. Did you go to Marant or buy the thing you were considering? Btw if the nude flats I had a pair (different brand but similar) that I wore to death. V good buy.

Fedup earrings were a lovely gift choice from your dh, lovely that he put lots of thought into it.

Blingy glad that MrB did you proud as usual. Burberry in my v good books as they messed up my order for dh's Christmas gift but sorted it out while dsis and I waited with apology and champagne. Fab store manager, if only all cs were like that!

Sounds great Mara. Hope you have a lovely time. Packing here for a week in Ireland, so much harder than packing for Thailand especially as there are 60 mile an hour winds where my folks live. Think I have overpacked but CBA trying to whittle it down.
