Self portrait dresses are lovely but not for the faint hearted - mine is so short and shows quite a lot of cleavage! Not one for the office party, ahem.

HappyGirlNow · 22/11/2015 17:34

Glad you are happy with your new work stuff queen - wardrobe stress is just what you don't need...

I work in financial service, not customer facing, and they've introduced 'dress down' unless meeting external customers.... Not sure I like it! Some people do still go in smart but it does make you lazy.. I've developed a uniform of casual stuff that I don't care about to wear.. And I've carefully packed away 90% of my beautiful work clothes..

HappyGirlNow · 22/11/2015 17:34

Thanks amber this one is a little tamer than your's sounds but it may still be too much for me when I've got it on Grin

AmberNectarine · 22/11/2015 17:40

This is mine. Slightly less subtle!

MarshaBrady · 22/11/2015 17:48

Lining sounds useful, even if short!

My work is very casual so I wear all my usual wardrobe. New acne skinnies, Marant stuff - it's all fine. I am smarter for meetings. However I have developed a uniform approach. It's a Vogue stance. And also I just don't feel right in dresses in meetings. I feel I have the balance right these days, it feels good. Although I could always say yes to more stuff.

HappyGirlNow · 22/11/2015 17:49

Ha yes just a tad amber !! Grin Love it! If only I was younger with much better legs..

Off out for a Chinese meal shortly (that'll sort this stubborn hangover out!) - thinking polo neck knitted dress I got from Next in olive or black, tights and shoe boots... Hmm... And a giant scarf for the cold....

QueenCardi · 22/11/2015 18:05

Glad you all approve Smile
Lovely dress happy. I know what you mean about being lazy. I could get away with wearing very casual stuff but I just wouldn't feel professional. It's nice to have that option on days though when you just can't be bothered to dress up.
amber he only has 3 as he doesn't wear a suit every day, only for private consultations and meetings, the rest of the time he's just in shirt and trousers.
marsha love those IM boots

FedupNagging · 22/11/2015 19:01

That looks like a pretty good haul for work Queen

I have just handed over my xmas wish list - all easily obtainable and nothing very extravagant as I fully intend to hit the sales!

Tomorrow I am out xmas shopping but need to find a silk camisole to wear under the mint velvet blouse which is very sheer. I thought if I could find a silver grey it would be perfect.

This is ok

This in grey is a possibility but maybe too much lace

libertydoddle · 22/11/2015 19:08

I bought that Jigsaw cami in teal today fedup but I will probably wear it with lace showing. I have a couple of plain nude camis from M&S that work well under sheer tops. They cost about £12 I think.

Karcheer · 22/11/2015 19:12

Oh ladies, I'm so sorry I've been AWOL for so long. I've been keeping to my capsule wardrobe for autumn and haven't purchased a stitch as I've been busy knee deep in builders :/
But I've a big issue! I need your help.
I through all my winter clothes away pretty much and I've few nice evening things as my previous evening wardrobe was entirely black.
Anyway... Dh has booked us a long w/e away in New York in December, so lots of walking/sight seeing but also dinner with a senior colleague of dh and his wife, theatre etc etc.

I need big help. A little capsule wardrobe would be perfect. I hate to ask for help as I've not been around... But I know how you all like a little shopping project...
4 nights and days, probably need new flight wear too. Even my jeans have holes in them :( my lovely pink trainers are mud brown now :( I need help :(
Budget flexible...

AmberNectarine · 22/11/2015 20:05

Ah yes, I forgot about his line of work QC. I still think 10 is excessive!

Need to start on the Xmas wrapping tonight.

libertydoddle · 22/11/2015 20:34

Welcome back karcheer

Have a look at my Blue Autumn board on pin. I bought some dark green Nike's recently that I love and would be great for a city break. Also Jigsaw have lovely knitwear in autumn colours and skinny cords in good colours. Some uniqlo thermals for layers/ warmth.

For travel I saw a lovely beige cashmere poncho (with matching eye mask!) In Pure Cashmere today. Sorry no links, am on phone and haven't worked out links luddite

Longislandicetee · 22/11/2015 20:51

QueenC, those are good buys. Love the jigsaw jumper and ballet flats the most. Toast ones aren't to my personal taste but I can see definitely the Teal one suits your colouring. Phew! Didn't want to have to drive down 3 hours tomorrow to frog march you back to JL with Lib!

Am in bed already as today has officially sucked and am exhausted from it. All I have done is been frustrated with the kids and yelled. It's not been my finest parenting day. The house is also cold as none of the boilers appear to be working properly. I think dh has done a runner as I am so hacked off!

libertydoddle · 22/11/2015 21:32

Early bed for me too. Hope you sleep well blingy - more Flowers

For those of you decorating - check out Suzy Watson Designs. Went into the shop in Marlow today and now want to redecorate entirely with stuff from there. Gorgeous bedding, beautiful wallpaper, paint and tiles, lovely furniture.... DD was in raptures in the sample child's bedroom. Wants her room EXACTLY like it.

Karcheer · 22/11/2015 21:40

liberty I love Suzy Watson in Marlow! I've a lovely throw and sauce boater! did you go into India Jane and oka too?

libertydoddle · 22/11/2015 21:51

I exhausted DD's patience in Suzy Watson! India Jane had gorgeous Christmas decorations in the window. Will go there next time. Is oka on the main street?

shopafrolic · 22/11/2015 22:00

I used to work in Marlow. Loved it.

Drywhitethanks · 22/11/2015 22:01

Happy that's asexy dress, your lucky DH!

Great haul QueenC, well worth it. If you feel your clothes for work aren't right you'll never feel confident.

Shop sounds like a fab night.

My shellac is 11 days in and at the stage I hate when your nails have grown a bit and there's a noticeable gap by the cuticle. Having them soaked off properly on Thursday instead of picking them off like I normally do

Karcheer · 22/11/2015 22:04

liberty it's only recently opened, yes on the Main Street, sort of between m&s and waitrose but on the other side of the road.
I love Marlow, definitely the nicest town near us IMO.

MarshaBrady · 22/11/2015 22:17

Shop your night out with Sleep sounds fab. Glad you both had an ace time. How's your kitchen going btw? I love how my (note my!) bathroom is emerging. Really pleased so far such a good Fired Earth loo sink and tiles. Looking forward to the end result.

Lib cute stuff.

Blingy have a good sleep. I should follow suit.

Welcome back Karcheer will think of some stuff. Will be very cold?

In Copenhagen tomorrow, very cold. Really wish I had ordered a hat and gloves already. Darn! Actually I am close to Kings Road, maybe if I have time.

maradesbois · 22/11/2015 23:42

Evening!

Marsha love the cardigan! I looked at it too and really liked it but decided against. Regret that decision a little bit now after seeing yours and weather being so cold. Was on King's Rd earlier, got ds a cashmere hat at Brora to complement scarf and gloves he already has. Dh muttered quietly about price but I explained cpw, will last for years apart from the gloves or until he loses them and so soft and lovely. Also tried on a gorgeous woolrich parka at shop at bluebird, would love it as a Christmas present.

Dsis is in town visiting. We had a lovely afternoon and have day off tomorrow to do Christmassy stuff, can't wait.

Happy lovely bag, sexy dress and fab Geneva weekend planned with your Dh. All sounds great.

Shop glad you and Sleep had a great night out. Can picture you two at a gig together, you both have a bit of cool rock chick about you.

QueenC was going to admonish you for panic buying too but you've more than justified your purchases Smile. I loved the brogues but sensible not to keep if you weren't sure. They are such a masculine look, I normally wear mine with short skirt and opaques as they don't feel right with trousers.

Lib love your tooth fairy card story. I am paranoid about ds's teeth as a friend's son needed a filling due to decay caused by eating raisins so would've panicked if he got a wobbly one but have heard not uncommon to get adult ones that young.

Blair sending you hugs and Flowers and hope the doc can sort you out soon.

Amber green cats eye glasses sound good for you. Agree with you about importance of presenting yourself properly at work, where Dh was previously some people would turn up for casual Friday in football shirts and flip flops when the idea was more casual jacket and no tie.

Karcheer hello there. Maybe just get a few new pieces rather than whole new holiday wardrobe. Wouldn't ditch your black evening stuff either, think black is so much less harsh under soft evening glow than harsh light of day.

QueenCardi · 23/11/2015 08:08

Morning. Just had a quick read. Welcome back karcheer.
Wearing new black toast top and will wear black ballet shoes when get there. Absolutely freezing this morning so walking in merrell trainers. So so stylish! I'm wondering whether my pea coat will be warm enough or whether I need to ruin the look further with the big barbour. I walk across a big open space so the temperature tends to be a couple of degrees lower and windier. Lovely way to start the day though until it rains

VivaVegas · 23/11/2015 09:20

Have a good day Queen.
Very cold and frosty here, fancying a black or navy down coat for days like this.
WFH today so no commute which is always good but rare on a Monday morning.

VivaVegas · 23/11/2015 09:33

Talking of work clothes the one gap I have in winter is a decent pair of black trousers. I have nice 7/8 for when it's warmer but could do with a full length pair, ideally straight leg so I could wear them with my loafers. Does anybody have any like this that would fit the bill?!

BerniceBobsHerHairAgain · 23/11/2015 14:46

Dropping in to say hello.

I can also imagine the rock chicks Sleep and Shop at Faithless - how funny that you met some old clubbing mates, Shop.

Viva not sure but I think Gap had something similar last winter, may be doing them again?

QueenC I love your haul, very decisive! I am envious of the Toast tops, love them. Shame the brogues didn't work for you (though I thought they looked fab with the dress) but the loafers are a good work option.

I was thinking about your style of shopping, which is very much 'buy as you need it' - something I wish I could emulate Grin

Marsha love the IM cardigan. I have a little IM purchase I am considering - will link if I do take the plunge.

Welcome back Karcheer.

Blingy you always sound like such an involved, loving parent, making things super special for your DC - sounds like you are beating yourself up a bit, we all have off days Flowers

Only one purchase to replort here - have been looking for culottes and think I may have found a pair from Mango - I liked these last year but didn't get them so pleased I found them on the outlet site. Just waiting for them to arrive.

I've also recently bought loads of lipsticks - I seem to go through phases of wanting to wear it and buying loads, then feeling it doesn't suit me and giving them all away. I've just bought Russian Red after seeing it on Linus as I have been looking for a true red for ages.

liberty hope your holiday goes well - how is the packing going?

Waves to everyone else, exhausted by writing this long post Brew
