One of my favourite interviews on Graham Norton is with Adele a few years ago where she tells the story of how she flashed loads of people when her poncho got caught by a gust of wind and she was naked underneath.

QueenCardi · 20/11/2015 21:26

Hey everyone, thank you for the good lucks and everything. I had a great day, everyone seems really nice. A very kind friend looked after ds for me as he wasn't well enough to be at school. I wore the navy Jaegar dress with navy tights and navy ballet flats. I think the brogues (justa they were from clarks) will be returned. My outfit felt perfect as it was smart but comfortable.
So I still have a winter shoe hole in my work wardobe despite saying I wasn't buying anything else till spring.
shop sounds like a fab day. Is this something you're doing for free to get some experience? Do you think this is what you'd like to do?
happy Geneva sounds fab although disappointing about the refurb.

QueenCardi · 20/11/2015 21:30

Saw this star shirt on Instagram and thought I'd link as I remember someone els saying they loved stars. 30% off at Jack wills too.

VivaVegas · 20/11/2015 21:47

Glad your day went well Queen, new starts are always daunting, more so if you've been out of the workplace for a number of years. Love the star shirt, very tempted.
Boden part lace black top is lovely on so a keeper. Thanks to Amber mentioning wearing the silver shoes with her black leather skirt I tried it on with mine (which I haven't worn this season) and it looks good with that as well as skinnies so a couple more outfit options.

Drywhitethanks · 20/11/2015 21:54

Queen so glad today went well. I've enjoyed building a work wardrobe for the last 3 1/2 years.

justasecond · 20/11/2015 22:01

I enjoyed the Adele at bbc thing too, such a lovely voice.
Thanks for all the boot suggestions some of the whistles ones look good but heels too high I am thinking a low 5 or 6cm ish block heel.
Maybe this is the start of a new career for you shop? Friends always ask to go shopping with me to help them choose stuff but I am actually useless with other people I just sort of know what suits my body shape and I just zone in on those things.
Sounds like you had a good start queenc
The Outnet Grenson brogues arrived today and went straight back an hour later. Truly awful, what was I thinking!

Drywhitethanks · 20/11/2015 23:16

Anyone got a Aigle Cuckmerry coat? What's the sizing like?

Stokey · 21/11/2015 09:20

Morning all - did anyone get snow? Dry? just icy rain here, bah.

Glad your first day went well QueenC, it's such a relief to get that out of the way. love that starry shirt.

I caught the end of Adele, then HIGNFY & the end of the Mercury Awards. The guy who won album of the year Benjamin Clementine was very moving speaking about Paris, and loved his song. Also had bit of nostalgic catch up on the 1990s winners, Screamadelica & Portishead especially.

Bit late Happy but loved your buys, and particularly love the word "swither" Grin. Reminds me of my student days in Scotland.

I've been lurking on the Christmas thread, that place is dangerous. Still if anyone still has shopping to do, Argos put out a 3 for 2 offer yesterday on toys & Amazon has lowered loads of its prices to match. And think they will refund the difference if you have already bought something that is now reduced. Got the Dds playmobil advent calendars which I hope they'll love. Also 50% of sleepwear at GAP today so am getting their Christmas PJs.

What's everyone wearing in the cold? I think I'll be in pleather leggings, green checked flannel shirt and chunky black boyfriend jumper, with the heating on!

Morning all. QueenC so glad it went well and that you were comfortable with your outfit choice.
I did really enjoy the wardrobe edit but not sure if that's just because she's a friend. Her style is totally different to mine though so I guess the real test will be taking her shopping to see if I can get the right things for her style and body shape (pear). It was fun but I'm still not sure how you could actually promote yourself doing it when there are other qualified people out there to choose from. I'm just Shop and love clothes......
Freezing cold here. So looking forward to tonight Smile

DD has just lost her first tooth. I am all weepy. How ridiculous is that!!

HappyGirlNow · 21/11/2015 12:04

Ha stokey I didn't know 'swither' was only Scottish Grin Where were you at uni?

Like the idea of a wardrobe edit shop , like the idea of an organised wardrobe with space! But reality is I have far too many beautiful clothes and accessories that I wouldn't part with... But I am going to try and buy less in 2016 and wear more of what I have especially stuff that STILL has tags on

Well, I had a couple of wines last night and got it in my head that the Gucci disco might sell out for Christmas (ridiculous I know!) and ordered it in black (on DH's behalf Wink ) straight off the Gucci site... I'll hand it to DH and he can wrap it and put it away for Christmas...

I had looked on other sites but couldn't really see it discounted.. Same price on net-a-porter and no Gucci bags at all on farfetch..

QueenCardi · 21/11/2015 12:41

Ha ha happy that's the sort of panic I would have. Dh infuriates me as ive sent him links/wishlists but as yet he's ordered nothing. He just doesn't get the concept of things selling out.

HappyGirlNow · 21/11/2015 12:45

Oh yes queen it was full on panic as my heart's set on it now Grin

shopafrolic · 21/11/2015 12:58

Happy Smile
Lib so soon?!!! That's early isn't it?
Wobbly teeth freak me out. I'm not going to cope well Confused

AmberNectarine · 21/11/2015 13:00

DH has definitely ordered me some stuff as a big box arrived from Harvey Nichols yesterday! Good man.

QueenCardi · 21/11/2015 13:22

Well done mrnectarine.
shop wobbly teeth freak me out too but just don't let on as they purposefully wobble them in front of you.

Stokey · 21/11/2015 13:23

I was at Edinburgh Happy, such a stunning city and a great place to be a student.

Dd1 lost her first (and second) at half term Lib, it did make her suddenly seem quite grown up. Try not to drink too much wine before being tooth fairy, I got DH to do it! But yes the wobbly tooth made me feel a bit sick, ugh.

libertydoddle · 21/11/2015 13:34

Good move happy!

Exciting amber Wink

shop it is early. Feels like she is growing up too fast. The adult tooth is there already, it has been growing up behind the baby tooth for about 2 months. One of her cousins had the same thing at the same age. SIL has told us to expect more adult teeth coming through at all angles around the baby teeth.

libertydoddle · 21/11/2015 13:35

Good tip about tooth fairy duties stokey!!

HappyGirlNow · 21/11/2015 14:27

I work in Edinburgh stokey and it is very beautiful indeed... I can imagine it was great fun as a student.. I was a student in Glasgow which I absolutely love but is a bit, ahem, 'earthier' Wink

FedupNagging · 21/11/2015 14:30

Glad your first day went so well Queen and yours sounded fun too Shop - it sounds like something you'd be really good at.

Lib my dc's could never leave a loose tooth alone - constant wobbling until it came out. The tooth fairy was very diligent in this house initially but by the time we got to ds3 'he' got rather lax especially when he worked out how much it had cost him at £1 a tooth!!

Went out for a meal last night and wore the HL skinnies with a black silk shirt and statement silver necklace and dune heels.

We have an unexpected night in tonight as friends are unwell so outfit will be pj's.

How fab are these boots

And these

HappyGirlNow · 21/11/2015 14:31

Out for dinner tonight at a lovely restaurant in Edinburgh and currently sporting 3 GIANT and disgusting cold sores Sad Just went to my wardrobe and threw the first thing I came to on the bed to wear tonight.. Let's face it, nothing is going to distract from my herpes... In a slight huff....

HappyGirlNow · 21/11/2015 14:32

Like the grey boots fed

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/11/2015 15:31

Hi all

So glad it went well yesterday QueenC. Outfit sounded perfect, shame about the brogues though.

shop I'm sure it's not just because she's a friend, I think you'd be really good at doing something like that. I guess business depends heavily on word of mouth though. Hope you enjoy Faithless :)

Happy oh no! Hope you still enjoy the evening.

We have a couple of friends coming over tonight for a raclette dinner but I'm not feeling great (and DH is getting a bit impatient with it now :(). I currently have a swollen lymph node in my groin. It's basically in my hip so really hurts to move, walk and drive. So I'm a complete bundle of fun at the moment.
On the plus side my Strathberry bag arrived and it's lovely, so small and cute.
