I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Les Senteurs have Sotto la luna but no Tauervilles.

Wanted to share this sample shop in Poland - My Slumberhouse Pear+olive sample is almost gone and I found them when I was looking for suppliers. Obviously they sell FBs too but samples are sometimes difficult to source.

Have been wearing Coco EDP and mohair.

This thread is making me very happy - you all are so knowledgeable and wearing intriguing things!

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2016 19:49

Oh and I was shocked to read about the repercussions of the Swiss franc and S&S having to close down Sad

FrustratedFrugal · 25/01/2016 20:12

Wearing some Loretta from Tauer to bed.

cressetmama · 25/01/2016 20:26

There used to be a Polish chemist-perfumer-scent student developer on Now Smell This blog (my preferred lurk before MN) called Lucas... maybe it's his . Nice to be gathering a good crowd here, welcome back old friends, and waving at everyone.

Pinched back some of DS's (my) Miller Harris travel set. The Terre D'Iris today. They do last beautifully for citrus based scent. A quick splash this morning before the plasterers arrived, plus dog walking, and Pilates, and there's still a fragrant whiff from my wrists.

What would I love without scent? I'd be the size of a house from cooking I think...

YetAnotherNC · 25/01/2016 21:39

Papillon Salome - whoah!!!!!!! Love? Hate? Headspin?! Wearing this to bed. Think I love it but would be embarrassed to wear in public. Seriously animal...

MrsCocoa · 25/01/2016 22:01

Sounds like my dilemma with the 'knickery' Theo Fennell Scent Yet.

Love Fleur de Sel Cointreau: one of the few occasions I've moved up from sample to FB. I like my florals savoury! Aromatic but comforting.

SecondSunrise · 26/01/2016 10:02

My Luckyscent order arrived yesterday from America. Impressed with the speed of delivery but the samples are teeny! I drenched myself in about a third of a vial of Ume by Keiko Mecheri...expecting spiced plums and osmanthus , but I struggled to smell anything at all. Very disappointing. I found KM's Attar de Roses to have excellent longevity so am surprised at this. Pretty disgraceful when you think the bottles go for nearly £100 and their sole purpose is to actually smell of stuff!

So I changed to Tauer's Une Rose Vermeille. MMMMMM. Raspberries and candied roses, with a hit of soapy lavender. Very very good. Has made me interested to explore more of the Tauer line. If anyone finds somewhere to buy decent size vials for a sensible amount I'd like to know.

SOTD Lubin Korrigan. Interesting scent, a bit boozey, a bit coconutty and caramelly but not sickly, a bit woody. Nice, but I think I need to apply more.

MissBattleaxe · 26/01/2016 11:21

I'm glad you've discovered Tauer SecondSunrise. I love Carillon Pour Un Ange and have a full bottle. I also love Noontide Petals, Incense Rose, L'Air du Desert Marocain and Orange Star. I am finding them so hard to get now because of postal restrictions. I recommend the Discovery set or sample tin if you can get one though.

Frugal- thanks for the tip about Sotto la Luna Tuberose. Last week it wasn't on Les Senteurs, just Gardenia, but this week Tuberose is there. However when I went to add a sample to my basket, it said it won't be available for 14 days.

I have to say I did not like Sotto La Luna Gardenia at all. It's the first Tauer I have pulled a face at, and Andy is so lovely to his fans!

CointreauVersial · 26/01/2016 13:14

I buy my Tauer samples/decants from Surrender to Chance. It's US-based, but they often have promos which bring the costs down. And you can choose any size. Here.

MissBattleaxe · 26/01/2016 13:15

Ooh thanks Cointreau. Any problems with customs or shipping?

cressetmama · 26/01/2016 13:32

For some reason I have always used The Perfumed Court, which is like Surrender to Chance. Have never had problems with customs or shipping. They take between two and three weeks for delivery.

MissBattleaxe · 26/01/2016 14:00

Right, that's my next little money pit then. Off I go. Thank you!

CointreauVersial · 26/01/2016 17:36

No, MrsB, never had any customs charges. Everything comes beautifully wrapped, too, in little gift boxes with a couple of sweets tucked inside.

Sign up for their newsletters and they send you discount codes.

The flat-rate postage just means I pack more items into my order!! Blush

EuropeanSpoon · 26/01/2016 18:07

I'm currently wearing Fille en aiguilles and I LOVE it. Can't stop sniffing myself!
I wore a different Serge Lutens sample yesterday (Fille de Berlin or summat) and it was quite funereal but I wasn't over enamoured.

I have five o'clock au Gingembre and Daim Blond to try next!

I saw someone mention Penhaligons Elisabethan Rose up thread - I think it's being discontinued so if you love it stock up now!
It's been on my to try list for ages Sad

MissBattleaxe · 26/01/2016 18:49

Yes La Fille de Berlin is very cold and austere, though some people love it. I found it quite chilling and icy and not in a good way.

cressetmama · 26/01/2016 20:15

La Fille de Berlin didn't do it for me either, but I passed my sample on to one of the MN perfumistas and it was an FB for her, instantly! I really have only liked Chergui and Femininite du Bois from SL.

SoTD was Iris Ukiyoe, over a grapefruit hand lotion. Love the Iris Ooky, but it sadly lasts minutes, and then there are odd tantalising whiffs you have to concentrate on to get. I don't think I shall replace it and I have but one spritz left, but there are moments when its fleeting loveliness is sheer perfection. It's like cherry blossom, sharp and spring like, but like most JC Ellena scents, he's engineered it to be sheer and evanescent. It would be so interesting if he were to do a full on number. I really wonder how it would smell.

FrustratedFrugal · 26/01/2016 20:41

I love Iris Ukioye in hot weather - I feel I'm wafting about in a private, air-conditioned cloud.

Today, awful weather, dirty wet snow and drenching rain. Coco EDP at work, Pear+Olive at home. For a few fleeting opening seconds, it is a photorealistic ripe pear.

cressetmama · 27/01/2016 08:37

I have a decant of Angelique sous la Pluie, and that alone makes it a suitable choice for today. I just can't think where it is!

It's been awful here yesterday afternoon/overnight and this morning, as the storm that dumped snow over the US East coast drops its load on Cornwall. It is not helping my mood that, as we have no render on the weather side of the house, rainwater is streaming in above the kitchen window. I have a neat line of I litre IKEA tubs balanced on the sill collecting drips and they need emptying after four hours where the leaks are worst. The plasterer is doing a quick indoor job this morning but is scheduled to re-appear when the worst of the rain has gone through after midday. Fingers crossed!

cressetmama · 27/01/2016 08:37

*the name alone

getoffthattabletnow · 27/01/2016 09:59

Cressetmama I received a sample of La fille de Berlin from someone on this thread and I immediately adored it.I find its a pure warm red rose and not at all austere or cold.I do have skin that amps up any sweetness though.
Songes is SOTD.Love the warm tropical EDP on a miserable cold wet day.The wind is whistling through our old house on a hill and it feels chilly even though the outside temp. Is mild.
Commiserations Cressetmama .Building work is always stressful and this weather is so Dire I didn't want to get out of bed this morning. But 4 kids and 7.45 school bus means must.

MissBattleaxe · 27/01/2016 10:22

SOTD is Yardley April Violets. I have seen people slate Yardley for being "old lady" ( I hate that term!), but in my eyes, you can't beat a classic soliflore floral.

cressetmama · 27/01/2016 11:08

Did you name-change, GetOff? I think my mama tag may be wearing a little thin as DS approaches A level!

Cannot find the Angelique decant but it might all have been used last summer thinking about it. I can feel an imminent decant extravagance threatening; it's rather like knowing a storm is on the way and that there's a high risk of getting carried away.

MrsCocoa · 27/01/2016 12:25

Ah! Speaking of Yardley, have we done cheap but good suggestions here yet? If not, January feels the right time to trade notes!

cressetmama · 27/01/2016 13:20

That's a good idea MrsC! Comme des Garcons isn't cheap but their Serpentine cologne is a very-much-more-accessible near-dupe for Maison Martin Margiela Untitled. Someone regularly on here likes that, but CBA to trawl through six pages to name check.

Some of the men's Roger & Gallet used to be lovely (sadly L'Oreal have deleted most of the best); of the women's, I like the Osmanthus best.

FrustratedFrugal · 27/01/2016 17:33

Budget gems? This rollerball gem is my drugstore favorite. And I like Deseo from J Lo. And I Lidl perfumes are well-made copies.

I'm revisiting my full bottles. Wearing Bottega Veneta EDP today - a softer leather than I remembered, with a suede feel, totally work-appropriate.
