I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Snap Cuir de Russie - on my wrist as well.
I have lots of Lutens samples - they are a bit marmite - I probably like Ambre Sultan best.

Serge Lutens: Loved Borneo, Chergui, Santale Majuscule, Sarrassins, Daim Blond

Didn't love: Louve (choco cherry liqueurs), Clair de Musc (EXACTLY like Impulse Hint of Musk) And LOATHED Muscs Koublai Khan (sp?). It smelled like a dirty old man who smokes 80 roll ups a day.

I also love Cuir de Russie. I have Lutens Fille en Aiguilles, and love that too. It's very warm, piny, like walking over pine needles in a hot forest by the sea, but weirdly very wearable in winter rather than summer. Don't like Chergui, too soapy/musty or something, just not as 'clean' a scent as Fille en Aiguilles. But Mitsouko has the same soapy/musty thing for me, so perhaps you'd like Chergui?

I'm not joining the Cuir de Russie fan club! All I get is Imperial Leather soap.

My fave Lutens fragrances are Feminite du Bois, Gris Clair, Ambre Sultan, 5 O'clock Au Gingembre, and Chergui - but there are loads I have never tried.

Tell us about Gris Clair European? Is it lavender-based?

Irish Perfumistas, where do you buy your samples from? I am afraid to try the American sites even though they are amazing, because of the shipping cost and then never mind if you get caught for customs Shipping on 4160 Tuesdays doubled the cost of the order when I checked it today. Money is tight, I can justify a €30 treat, ie the price of a sample set but not €60!

Any suggestions for a replacement for L'Occitane Eau D'Iparie? Not looking for a dupe but definitely feel the lack of a funeral mass perfume...

I found Gris Clair very cold, and I usually like lavender.

SOTD Papillon Angelique because of this thread yesterday. Its gorgeous.

I love Gris Clair, it's not cold on me, it's sort of edible but not foody.
Wearing Chanel 19 Poudre today, it's pleasant enough.

Def lavender but something else too. It reminds me of some other thing I liked years ago, maybe Let It Rock?

I have to confess that really like Imperial Leather soap, have one in the bathroom right now, and I also love soapy/dirty masculines. But there is something pretty geriatric about Cuir de Russie, must be the aldehyde-leather vibe, but the idea of the perfume is almost 100 years old! As leather perfumes go, CdR is definitely an old lady leather. I have some CdR on my sleeve and layered with wafts of oudh it smells divine - camel dung is probably the missing element for me

Getting brave with the office scents, Frugal . And I like Imperial Leather, just not as much as other things, but for a Boots or supermarket buy, it gets my vote most times.

SoTD (for the builders, natch) was Sense and Sensibility. Hated it when I first sprayed it on, but 12 hours later it has calmed down to sweet, but not cloying. Maybe a little generic. Probably wouldn't pick it deliberately, but this morning was a lucky dip.

How have I missed this thread? SOTD is Musc Nomade by Annick Goutal - got a small bottle from Amazon for £10. I love it - it seems to get stronger as the day goes on, and I am still getting whiffs of it now. It seems quite a "green" musk, and makes me think of how your skin smells after a day on the beach.

Thanks for that mini review Mrs Schadenfreude. I saw that on Amazon and was wondering whether to get it. It sounds lovely.

European I haven't smelt Eau D'Iparie. But if you are after a literally 'churchy' incense note you could try Passage D'Enfer (so long as you can cope with the name given your description of when you'd wear)? Overall it's quite airy, light and cool.

I have almost used up by bottle of another L'Occitane perfume from the same period which has also been discontinued (Ambre). It's been a real winter staple and I'll really miss it.

It's Coco weather here. I've finally learned to spray it from a foot away - mellow, cozy, sweet, flashbacks to my childhood.

Hi everyone, I was on this thread a few years ago. Just rediscovered you all. I have just got Teint d Neige for my birthday, I have coveted this for a while and finally have a bottle. I love it! It's so powdery and sweet but not in a too gourmandy a way, like the marshmallowy softness of giant fluffy marshmallows.

I am wearing Portrait of a lady today, I like to wear it with purple for some reason, it always makes me feel grown up.

Also I think I am going to take the plunge and buy a bottle of Odalisque, even though I haven't tested it. I actually went to the Parfums de Nicolai shop in Fulham Road, making a special trip, only to find it closed, despite being advertised as open at that time. I hung around for about an hour and still no staff showed up. I have been irked with them ever since and often thought about ringing to complain but haven't bothered. Any thoughts? I just find the reviews fascinating for this one and I love a white floral? Anyone tried it, which other scent would it most closely resemble? I am hoping it will be mysterious in the Chanel Cristalle is, but without the icyness.

Ostara is Sotd .A warm yellow Narcissus enriched with Amber,vanilla,beeswax,honey and a little decay.I love the hint of spring Lilacs,Hyacinths and Wisteria in the heart.Reminds me of the Nahema structure,whereas the Rose is replaced by the Narcissus in Ostara.
European have you tried James Heeley's Cardinal?Its heavily redolent of a Catholic mass.
Love the sound of Musc Nomade.I've been debating buying the little bottle for a while.I find Cuir de Russie really hard to wear .Heavy Aldehydes and pungeant leather are not my thing .Rather predictably I love the touch of feminine leather in Drole de Rose and Iris Prima - both rather powdery delicate florals.
