I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Switched to the incredibly juicy Pear + Olive from slumberhouse. DH abroad, so I can wear whatever I like to bed.

MrsCocoa · 19/01/2016 22:51

Further TK Maxx possibilities would be exciting MissB. Well done for your pre-Xmas restraint. Saw a bottle of Caligna in there for £12 today.

Still thinking a lot about Bowie, I read on Basenotes that his fragrance was Minotaure so it must be true. Bizarrely though, read over the weekend that he did a wallpaper range in collaboration with Laura Ashley - and one design featured the minotaur.

MissBattleaxe · 19/01/2016 23:20

L'Eau D'Hiver and Apres L'Ondee are made for each other.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 20/01/2016 08:47

God I loved smelling Minotaur on boys.

In the 90s I worked with a lovely lovely guy who gave me a wee "brick" thing that was scented with Minotaur and I gave him my mini empty bottle of Obsession.

When we infrequently email now he always says "I've still got my bottle have you still got the Minotaur brick?" Grin

Ormonde Jayne's Tiare is SOTD .Its less of the Tiare but more of a green chypre of oak moss, vetiver and flowers. Its reminiscent of Cristalle ( which I dislike due to its harshness) but a more refined version.I can smell the Tiare much more in the woody drydown. Its deliciously intriguing and a complete departure from my norm.
I wonder whether Tiare will have the monster longevity of the Frangipani and Woman.I can still smell them on my arm from yesterday ( and after a bath). The fragrances appear to be initially subtle and initially underwhelming. But the Frangipani is one of the best long-lasting lime and Linden Blossom perfumes I've ever tried.

YetAnotherNC · 20/01/2016 11:30

Scent of the day, Miller Harris La Fumee. Lovely incense, smoky, soft and warm.

YetAnotherNC · 20/01/2016 11:31

Has anyone else tried Papillon Anubis? What do you think? Seems very strong, but it fascinates me.

MissBattleaxe · 20/01/2016 14:50

I adore Anubis, and Salome and Tobacco Rose and Angelique! Try them all!

FrustratedFrugal · 20/01/2016 14:57

3rd day with Infusion de Vetiver. Fantastic office perfume.

cressetmama · 20/01/2016 15:50

Arome du jour is builder's dust! Two gents are taking off the old render in readiness for re-plastering our exterior which is falling off in chunks. Scent... ha, I'm waiting for them to leave before going in the shower. They arrived so early, before 8.00 am. At least I shall know tomorrow.

MissBattleaxe · 20/01/2016 15:55

I love the Infusions range! The Fleur D'Orange is beautiful. I have the whole set in mini form. Gorgeous range.

thebestfurchinchilla · 20/01/2016 22:06

What happened to L.I.L.L.Y by Stella McCartney? I lived it and now its gone from shops!!!

thebestfurchinchilla · 20/01/2016 22:07

Loved

MrsCocoa · 20/01/2016 22:17

Anyone else having technical problems posting? Third attempt:

Yet - snap!

Cresset - you set me off wondering whether there is some avant garde offering from a niche house called Cement? A quick search didn't uncover a fragrance, but did find this thread discussing cement notes!

cressetmama · 21/01/2016 08:53

That's really interesting MrsC. I rather like several of the suggestions discussed, especially French Lover of which I had a Les Senteurs sample. I think there may be one spritz left in the vial so may save that for tomorrow.

I was ready for them today, so am listening to the Kango and scented with Cruel Intentions (Kilian) which is more about the name than the juice. I am not sure I recognise the dominant note in it, but it's quite low key, dry and mineral.

SecondSunrise · 21/01/2016 09:43

MissBattleaxe - I nearly added a tester of Angelique to my recent samples...can you describe it at all?

I ordered 7 samples from LuckyScent which says it has shipped today. I've picked a mix of heady tropical florals (Isabey Fleur Nocturne and Keiko Mecheri Isles Lointaines), Keiko's spicy plum Ume, Tauer's jammy Rose Vermeilles, spicy Diptyque Volutes and boozy caramel Lubin Korrigan. I also added Dirty Honey following the discussion on here (plus what a great name). I have seen some mention that it resembles Seville a l'aube which I already have a sample of so I'm hoping it's sufficiently different to that.

SOTD is Acqua di Parma Mondorlo di Sicilia, and I got told I smell delicious! Hurrah!

MissBattleaxe · 21/01/2016 11:55

Here's a review of it Second Sunrise. I have a full bottle and I adore it.

iscentyouaday.com/2014/06/28/papillion-perfumes-angelique-instant-love/

getoffthattabletnow · 21/01/2016 12:22

Frangipani is SOTD.But its too pretty and Summery for me today .Songes - my favourite tropical winter floral is warm and rich enough to counterbalance the grey icy foggy day.So I changed.
I'm tempted to try a sample pack of the Papillon Perfume's.Given that I like pretty florals by and large.Would they be too much?Isabey perfumes are also ones I've been meaning to test for a while.

YetAnotherNC · 21/01/2016 12:23

FB of Anubis just arrived in the post. Totally gorgeous. I feel like a mysterious Egyptian priestess, even if I am wearing old uggs and a cardigan!

MissBattleaxe · 21/01/2016 12:48

I wouldn't call Papillon pretty florals but I would definitely try them. Anubis is a heavy hitter, Salome is vintage style pure sex, Tobacco Rose is at it sounds and is utterly divine and Angelique is a kind of orris, mimosa, violetty, dream. It's very hard to describe but stunning.

YetAnotherNC · 21/01/2016 12:59

I can't get enough of Anubis, but yes it is a heavy hitter, and I worry a little that I'll blast everyone with a scent cloud when I go to collect the little people from school! Maybe not an everyday scent, but I'm enjoying it at the moment.

SecondSunrise · 21/01/2016 16:08

They sound fantastic! £18 for all 4. Hmm, they'll have to wait until another month after my splurge at LuckyScent. Generous 2ml spray testers though which is good.

MissBattleaxe · 21/01/2016 16:57

Papillon is very long lasting too, so two or three squirts of Tobacco Rose lasts about 14 hours on me.

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2016 17:45

Sunrise - Volutes is one of my faves. You've ordered an interesting selection!

The Papillon sample set is well worth it. I need to revisit them all, I think. I don't have Salome, as it hadn't launched when I bought my samples.

SOTD is Jour D'Hermes. There's a particular theme to many Hermes fragrances which just seems to make them very wearable - no idea what it is, but this one is bright, crisp, smooth and very elegant.

EuropeanSpoon · 21/01/2016 18:21

Hello! I'm wearing cuir de russie today. Tried apres l'ondee last week and I don't like it...also tried Nahema, which I've coveted for years, and I HATE it! Mitsouko and L'heure Bleu are my true loves after all.

What Serge Lutens do you perfumistas love? I recently discovered Gris Clair and it's so good...tempted by Gingembre?
