Happy Hallowe'en to those who celebrate it. (I heard on the radio this morning that it is now officially bigger than Christmas in the US). DS, DDiL and the DC are off to a Hallowe'en Lunch. DSis has just booked for the four of us to have a couple of days in Derbyshire later in November to do our annual Christmas present swop.

Sorry to hear that DD is still being difficult, MrsS, and no jeans sounds like a good sanction. Yesterday sounds lovely, MI.

motherinferior · 31/10/2015 11:47

I have just dyed my hair. Very badly. Think it's time to book a vastly expensive professional do. My regular dye has been discontinued.AngrySad

motherinferior · 31/10/2015 11:56

Oh god it's AWFUL. don't quite know what to do...

MontserratCaballe · 31/10/2015 12:07

Darling, how awful is it - just getting used to it needed or can't live with it? If the latter, get on blower now to get a salon appointment to sort it ASAP. Many places open on Sunday now and just having the appt will make you feel calmer.

I am sure you can rock any colour but if you hate it and want it gone, get the salon to do it. Trying to sort it yourself could make it worse. Chin up.

motherinferior · 31/10/2015 12:17

Badly done and looks fake. Am booking appt now - can't go tomorrow but my parents won't noticeSmile and I desperately need a cut anyway!

NUFC69 · 31/10/2015 12:21

Oh dear, MI, have some Wine and try not to think about it. I am sure it's not as bad as you think, but that's not the point, if you're unhappy about it, you will never feel comfortable.

motherinferior · 31/10/2015 12:35

Have booked haircut, and found delightful cap my sister knitted for meGrinGrin. Have also washed it repeatedly with very hot water like you're supposed not to. I do realise that in the scale of things this is not exactly major.

wordassociationfootball · 31/10/2015 12:42

Done a solid 7.30-12.30 in my lof(t)fice, being fantastically ignored. Have taken my earplugs out so I can hear DH coming up with my omelette. Wouldn't do to be caught on MN Smile Hugely heartened by the blue sky and sunshine, loving my work and looking forward to carving the requested bat in a pumpkin some time after 2, although hoping I might be able to squeeze a further hour of goodwill out of everyone.

Crem your halloween sounds fun. Sorry to hear about DD Mrs S. Crem's idea a good 'un.

Welcome back BTM. Your clothes haul sounds really good to me.

wordassociationfootball · 31/10/2015 12:44

Oh bum, MI. Hair disasters are a fecker.

Cremo · 31/10/2015 13:03

Shite mi , I've done it meself. Hairdresser was lovely though, and magicked it better. She cut it first to see if that improved things on its own ( it didn't as it was brassy-vile) and then coloured it with lots of argon oil conditioner.
Hat idea is jolly good and clearly a fashion statement.

Rosebag · 31/10/2015 14:11

Sympathies to monty and waf dealing with school admissions. Well we wanted parental choice didn't we. And what do we get? A migraine and a stomach ulcer and a load of grief. Glad to be out of all that. Flowers

MrsS how annoying. That's the trouble with teens. They just won't bloody play ball. Even for new jeans.... Wine

I have to admit to not being a Halloween fan ( bah humbug, sorry) nevertheless I have found Dd some dark purple lippy and she, thank heavens has agreed to change into her costume at the theatre instead of me racing back and forth like a mad woman. I am now about to take her for her call, having forced her to practise for her French CA next week.

DS is well chuffed to have received two offers this week from Newcastle and Exeter. Still waiting nervously to hear what Brum offers.

DDad is still in hospital. They have ballsed up on his treatment so prob in til mon at the earliest. DH has gone away for the weekend. Harrumph

Ps waf "embuggerance* is a fantastic word Grin

herbaceous · 31/10/2015 14:13

I am something of a Halloween grinch, and see trick or treating as basically begging/extortion. Yet I will be trailing around the neighbourhood at dusk, with DS dressed as a zombie. Before that I shall be carving a pumpkin into Darth Vader.

At some stage I have to properly plan my lesson for Monday. Eeeeeeep....

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2015 14:56

Well done WAF!

M8 the bar sounds a great idea. Maybe you will even get used to the colour?

Rose that's great news for your DS!

I have had another tricky convo with DM who is being very negative as well as confused. So I took it out on the garden and hacked at a load of stuff - lovely out in the sun!

DH has gone off 5o watch the rugby with his mates and DS has a mate round to watch at home and DD has bf round so I am having a quirky coffee in my fave people - watching cafeSmile

hattymattie · 31/10/2015 14:58

Rose - well done to DS on the university offers. Fingers crossed for Brum (that was the one he wanted wasn't it?).

MI - I was going to say, wash a lot in the hope it tones down. Otherwise, agree with the others - you probably think it is worse than it is but it is worth getting it sorted by a salon (speaks from bitter experience).

Mrs S - hope things are going OK, despite recalcitrant daughter.

Here, have not seen DD2 since her party last night but she says she's been to her maths class and will be back in an hour so I can only hope. I have carved the pumpkin with DS and he has his friend round. Later they will toast marshmallows etc. Friend is very French so that is all very new and exciting for him. We have sweets in for random trick or treaters although this is very variable - some years we get lots and some none at all Confused.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/10/2015 15:13

There is ambulance outside which I hope is taking neighbour away...

hattymattie · 31/10/2015 15:25

Poor old sod but an enormous relief for you - keep us posted Mrs S.

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2015 15:40

Oh God, MNing on my phone without my glasses - should be MI the hat sounds a great idea and a quiet coffee, though quirky is probably more like it!

Fingers tightly crossed, MrsS!

Lalsy · 31/10/2015 15:44

Ooooh MrsS, hope so.

Fantastic news on uni offers Rose. So nice to have something sort of in the bag and know you've not been on a different planet from everyone else all along (or was that just dd? Smile)

Cremo · 31/10/2015 16:00

Oh that's brilliant Rose. Hope it's a big confidence boost for ds. Hope that Birmingnam don't make you wait, too long. Twas Feb here when Dd heard her first offer.Biscuit

Am compiling soundtrack on Spotify at request of dsis for h'ween partay. Some dire songs out there, worse than Christmas honestly.

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2015 17:21

OMG! I am so shocked. DD is in the kitchen with her bf. Door shut. I had noticed it had gone quiet, but....

DS rang down to request pizza for him and mate, so I made a bit of noise on my way in and...

They are both sitting at the table workingShockShockShock

I think I like him even more now Smile

BeachysFlipFlops · 31/10/2015 17:38

Lots of planning, sorting for Halloween party here for ds...... Numerous 14 year old in various stages of fancy dress. So far we have four boys here, they have NO music, no IDEA really on anything and I foresee a disaster..... Still dd1 will be back shortly from coffee with a friend to sort them out, I hope.

Feeling quite flat and down at the moment - not looking forward to work on Monday at all. I get the impression something's up, but I won't know for sure until I get there.I think I need my blood pressure checking again.

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2015 17:42

A party chez toi, Beachy? You are such a good mum - hosting a load of 14yo's! Hope they are as quiet and sensible as my DS and his mates! Thankfully they are going to a party elsewhereWink

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2015 17:43

Beachy are you on meds for BP?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 31/10/2015 17:46

What is it you have a bad feeling about Beachy? Dreading work is sooo horrible - and it seems far too many of us have to got through this at least at the moment. And yes, you are truly a Good Mum to be hosting Halloween parties for teenage boys...

Do you think the reason there are so many work woes I'd because we are all getting older and so less prepared to put up with shit/jump to change at the bosses whims?
